Chapter 22

When Serena got home, it was already past four in the evening.

The live-in housekeeper, Margaret, had arrived around noon.

Margaret was from Andaglas, about the same age as Elaine. She had a straightforward personality and worked very efficiently. On top of that, she was an excellent cook.

Elaine was very satisfied with Margaret being their housekeeper.

That evening, Margaret prepared dinner. Since Elaine had nothing else to do, she decided to help out in the kitchen and learn cooking from Margaret.

Although Elaine could cook, she only knew how to cook a few basic dishes. She had always been attended by servants, after all. She was a wealthy heiress and had married into the Vales—an appropriate match in terms of social status at the time.

Serena couldn't bear to see her mother having to do everything by herself after enduring five years of suffering in prison.

Now that she had the means, she was determined to give her mother the best life possible.
