~ Thea’s POV

The ride back to the limestone estate was a complete, agonizing blur.

I didn't remember Julian helping me up from the floor of the Obsidian Club. I didn't remember walking back out through the hushed, amber-lit corridors, or climbing into the back of the idling Maybach. My physical body was functioning on a hollow, automated autopilot. At the same time, my mind remained entirely trapped in the soundproof office, drowning in the horrific, blood-chilling echoes of my husband’s past.

  • What Daddy Left Behind   Can you come?

~ Thea’s POVThe morning sun finally broke through the dense, bruised clouds over Manhattan, casting a pale, fragile light across the charcoal sheets of the master suite.I lay perfectly still, my head resting against the solid, heavy expanse of Stellan’s bare chest. His arm was wrapped securely around my waist, anchoring me flush against his side. For the first time in what felt like a millennium, the erratic, frantic drumming of his heartbeat had completely settled into a deep, rhythmic calm. The tension that permanently corded the muscles of his back was gone.He was sleeping.I carefully propped myself up on one elbow, studying the face of the man I had married. In the quiet light of the morning, stripped of his bespoke armor and the lethal glare of the Wall Street Dragon, he looked breathtakingly vulnerable. The dark shadows beneath his eyes were stark, a physical testament to the horrific psychological war he had been fighting in the dark.I reached out, my fingertips gently bru

  • What Daddy Left Behind   I am sorry for everything.

~ Stellan’s POV"Hi Thea..."My voice was a ragged, hollow scrape against the profound silence of the master suite. I stood perfectly still in the threshold, my hands hanging numbly at my sides. Every single instinct I had honed over the last twenty years was entirely dead.I looked at my wife. She was standing in the centre of the dark bedroom, swallowed entirely by one of my oversized black t-shirts. Her dark hair was a wild, tangled mess down her back. Her beautiful face was pale, the dark purple contusion on her cheekbone stark against her skin, and her dark eyes were swollen and red from hours of violent weeping.I waited for the flinch. I waited for her eyes to completely harden with the disgust I felt every time I looked in the mirror. I waited for her to step backward, repulsed by the presence of a man who had been completely, thoroughly defiled. She didn't move away. She stood her ground, her chest heaving with a sudden, jagged breath."Julian called me," I whispered, the wor

At the same time, my mind remained entirely trapped in the soundproof office, drowning in the horrific, blood-chilling echoes of my husband’s past.As the car approached the perimeter of the estate, the media circus was still raging. The flashing strobe lights of the paparazzi cameras bounced off the tinted, bulletproof windows, illuminating the cabin in violent, erratic bursts of white.Usually, the sight of the ravenous press corps would spark a fierce, defensive anger in my chest. But as I stared blankly out the glass, I felt absolutely nothing. The syndicated headlines, the plunging stock prices, the public scandal—it was all utterly me

  • What Daddy Left Behind   Oh my Stellan~

~ Thea’s POV"W-what?!"The word tore from my throat as a shattered, ragged gasp. It wasn't a question demanding clarification; it was the violent, physical rejection of a reality too horrific to comprehend. I gripped the edge of the oxblood leather booth, my knuckles turning stark white as the soundproofed walls of the Obsidian Club’s private office seemed to aggressively close in on me.Julian didn't look away. He didn't offer me a comforting lie or a softened version of the nightmare. He stood against the heavy mahogany desk, his own eyes swimming with the dark, heavy burden of a secret he had carried for over a decade."Stacy didn't just want a young lover, Thea," Julian continued, his voice a low, gravelly rasp that scraped against the dead silence of the room. "She wanted absolute, totalitarian ownership of a human being. She wanted to play god, and Evelyn Vaughn handed her the universe on a silver platter."I couldn't breathe. The oxygen felt thick, tainted with the phantom smo

  • What Daddy Left Behind   She is with Julian

~ Stellan’s POVBzzzz. Bzzzz. My smartphone vibrated aggressively against the polished expanse of the mahogany desk, the harsh, rhythmic sound completely severing the dead silence of the executive corner office.I sat in the heavy leather chair, entirely paralysed, staring at the glowing screen.Stacy.It was the fifteenth time she had called in the last two hours. She wasn't calling to negotiate. I had already signed the irrevocable trust. I had already transferred two billion dollars of liquid capital into an account bearing the name of a child I couldn't even look at without feeling violently, physically ill. I had surrendered a king’s ransom to appease her, but Stacy didn't want my money. She wanted to twist the knife. She wanted to hear my voice break, to confirm that the invisible leash she had fastened around my neck twenty years ago was still securely in her manicured hand.Bzzzz. Bzzzz.I didn't reach for the phone. My large hands rested flat on the desk, the knuckles stark

  • What Daddy Left Behind   The Devastating Truth

~ Thea’s POVI looked down at the heavy crystal glass in my hand. The amber liquid sloshed slightly against the rim, betraying the violent trembling in my fingers.I didn't hesitate. I raised the glass to my lips and swallowed the scotch. The liquid was liquid fire, burning a harsh, unforgiving trail down my throat and settling like hot coals in my stomach. I welcomed the burn. It grounded me. It forced the exhaustion out of my bones and replaced it with an absolute, unyielding resolve.I lowered the glass, my dark eyes locking onto his."Tell me," I commanded, my voice dropping into a hollow, terrifyingly calm whisper. "Tell me exactly what broke my husband."Julian let out a ragged, defeated exhale. He turned away from me, walking over to the heavy mahogany desk. He didn't sit in the leather executive chair; he leaned against the edge of the desk, crossing his ankles, his gaze dropping to the floor as if he couldn't bear to look at me while he dragged the Dragon of Wall Street throu

  • What Daddy Left Behind   Shutting out Ethan

~ Thea’s POVI wanted the concrete sidewalk to crack open and swallow me whole. It felt awkward and at the same time so wrong. As if I was already cheating on Stellan with his boss.
