Isla~

"I'm only a mere result of your father's treachery."

"You think of me a monster, when you've..."

Dante's words kept ringing in my head for some reason and no matter what, I couldn't seem to get them out.

I had confronted him later that night in hopes of getting some answers but he just dismissed me, saying something along the lines of:

"Look closely, the truth might just reveal itself."

I didn't know what that meant, but I'm sure as hell about to find out.

This morning, I watched him get dressed for his usual "business" meetings and an idea struck me.

I didn't really know anything of what he actually does in these meetings and I was tired of remaining on the sidelines, hidden away from everything that was going on around me.

Perhaps if I follow him, I might just get the answers I'm looking for. I might be able to see through his eyes for once.

Maybe I might finally start to understand the reason for his thirst for vengeance and power.

Or I get to be proven right about him bein

Isla~When I decided to go with Dante, I didn't imagine we would be taking a one hour flight on his private jet from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. I mean, he did warn me that we would be spending a couple days out here, so I really shouldn't be this surprised.I had been on many private flights before but none was quite like this. The kind of attention I was given by the staff onboard whenever they realized I was "Mrs Moretti" was overwhelming. It was almost like it was a pleasure for them to serve me but not because of me. They were obviously doing it to get on Dante's good side and for some reason, I didn't really mind.I just sat back, relaxing as I was being treated to the best flight experience, whilst being completely ignored by Dante.I listened to a couple of his discussions over the phone, straining my ears really hard to listen for anything that might pique my interest. I however gave up when he suddenly switched to Italian, deciding to sleep through the rest of the journey.

Dante~"Boss..." Fernando's voice rang from the other end of the phone line."I don't feel very comfortable with this. A lot could go wrong." He whined."With an occupation like ours, a lot does go wrong, Fernando." I replied, earning a sigh from him."There's no changing your mind, is there?""No.""Not when I'm this close to finding her." I said, a wave a determination washing over me.I feared that an involvement from my men might ruin my chance and I wasn't about to risk that."This is suicide, Boss." Fernando continued to lament as I prepared to hang up the call. The sudden sound of approaching footsteps from behind, alerted me of Isla's presence and I slowly turned around to meet her brown eyed gaze."I'll be in touch." I whispered into the phone, still not taking my eyes off her.Isla's eyes seemed to be burning with curiosity, a sign that she had indeed heard the conversation between me and Fernando.I rolled my eyes at that, watching her stand a few paces away from me.There

  • What The Don Wants   Party

Isla~All these while and it never occurred to me that Nancy was the name of his sister.I stared at Dante with widened eyes as our limousine cruised past the vibrant night scenery of the city. I might be mistaken, but there was a look in his eyes that I never thought I'd see. Pain? Vulnerability? I could tell he really wanted his sister back.I suddenly shook my head, snapping myself out of my train of thoughts. Why should I feel pity for the man who took my own brother from me? Why should I feel bad for my brother's killer?"Not to be mean, but you've done worse to people." I suddenly blurted out, looking him right in the eyes."You killed my brother, remember?" Dante's eyes flickered with something dark, something dangerous and unpredictable and it made my stomach drop instantly.I tried to scoot away from him but his calloused hands were suddenly grabbing my wrists, eliciting a whimper from me."You want to go ahead and see me as the villain in your story, I'm okay with that." Isla~Criminals. Every single one of them. From influential, powerful men to beautiful, seductive women, I felt like a sheep surrounded by wolves, clinging tightly to Dante. And Mr Harry, I still couldn't tell if he still recognized me from all those years. I was barely a teenager when my father would have him over for their usual "meetings". I never really thought much about it then."Welcome to the underworld." Dante whispered to me, noticing the uncomfortable expression on my face.He probably thought I was regretting my decision to come along.Alongside Mr Harry, I still recognized some other old associates of my father in this gathering and they seemed to be too engrossed in their individual show and display of dominance to notice me.But for some reason, Dante's presence didn't go unnoticed. He didn't need to flash a watch or any other expensive jewelry before they stopped to stare at him. His reputation in Las Vegas had already spoken much on his behalf. I could see the fear

[A/N : This book doesn't in anyway encourage the vices that are portrayed in it. Reader's discretion is highly advised.]Dante~She wasn't here. It's been roughly an hour of me combing through a number of Harry's girls and I still couldn't find Nancy.I couldn't understand it.I had been looking for her all year and was led here by a reliable source. I was positive I'd find her and take her home with me tonight.Isla remained on the couch beside me, squirming uncomfortably at the effect of the tension in the room.I shook my head at the dark haired female brought before me, purple circles around her eyes. It was clear she had been subjected to some kind of ill-treatment before she was brought to me.With a grunt, Harry's men were taking her away while I watched.I came here for my little sister... and no one else."Wait!" Isla suddenly called out, jerking right up to her feet.I turned to look at her, a warning look on my face. She ignored."W...Where are you taking her?" She asked,

  • What The Don Wants   Unfinished business

Isla~Everything happened so fast.Dante.He held me, pressed a gun against my head and threatened to shoot. And for a moment, I was certain he was.Until he suddenly shot at the two, large men, leaving a wide-eyed Harry for the last. The fear on the latter's face mirrored mine and I couldn't help my shiver, even as Dante's grip loosened around me.He now had his gun pointed at Harry, freezing him in place. "Lock the door... quick." Dante whispered in my ears, snapping me out of my daze.I quickly dragged my legs towards the door to do as he said. And just when I clicked the locks shut, pounding sounds were suddenly coming from outside. They were no doubt Harry's men.A lot more of them.I let out a shaky breath as I stepped away from the door, fearing it may not be able to hold much longer.Dante was now busy tying Harry to a chair and when he saw the panicked look on my face, he picked up his pistol again, aiming it at the older man's head."Get rid of your men." He hissed."Tel

Isla~I stood frozen at the scene before me.Bodies littered every corner and they weren't moving. The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder and death. The dark, dangerous aura that surrounded him, giving him an appearance of an angel of death. He took them all himself and remained standing, ready for more. Isla~I stepped out of the vehicle, dressed in all black and instantly attracting attention from onlookers.Today was Matteo's funeral and I came back from Los Angeles just in time for it. I wasn't surprised by the number of people in attendance as Matteo had always been known and regarded the heir of the entire DeLuca's fortune.Father had introduced him to a number of his business partners in hopes that my elder brother would take over from him someday."Sure you want to do this." Katya murmured from behind me, eyeing the seemingly hostile crowd around me.I recognized most of them to be members of our extended family and even old friends. However they all looked at me now like I was some enemy, some traitor."I have to do this." I said, determination coursing through me.My father's lies and secrets got my brother killed and it was time I stood up to him. • What The Don Wants   Whore or Wife?

Isla~The night's event was almost over and as far as I could tell, it was a success.A success that would be attributed to Dante's timely intervention. I hated to admit it but tonight could have gone really bad, if he hadn't stepped in.Dante saved the night. But he wasn't going to hear it from me. Ever! The music slowly faded into the background as I wandered farther and farther away from the grand hall, my barefoot rubbing against the grass.I let out a sigh, finally letting myself relax for the first time tonight, finally letting my guard down.Afterall, it was just me now. At least, that was what I thought. The cool, evening breeze brushed against my skin and with it came the scent of freshly trimmed flowers from the nearby garden.I smiled at the blissful feeling, looking up at the bright, full moon above me. Bliss.Silence.But it was all suddenly interrupted by the sound of laughter from a distance. I was startled, my eyes darting around the yard in search of the source. The

  • What The Don Wants   Harmless

Dante~All through the night, I could feel how tensed she was at my presence.Good.It showed I still had that much control over her.She might be able to deceive others into believing she was really all about charity and whatever, but I knew better.Organizing an event like this in my house without telling me? It definitely looked to me like an attempt to get on my nerves. If my attention was what she was looking for, she definitely got it now. She started this and I was going to play along.Placing my hand on the small, exposed area of her lower back, I guided her towards the middle of the hall for our dance. She felt stiff. Rigid.I didn't mind however as I knew it was only a matter of time before she loosened up.Applause echoed from all around us as we finally stood face to chest, under the beautifully dim spotlight. For the first time, she dared to look into my eyes and I could see the questions and skepticism in them. I could also see the tiniest bit of fear but as always, Isla

Isla~"Are you sure about this?" Katya asked, her voice a little panicked.I smiled, looking around the beautifully decorated hall and the guests who were slowly trooping in.The usual gloomy atmosphere of the Moretti mansion was now brightened up with the sound of light-hearted laughter and music.I had never been more sure of anything."Mr and Mrs Sanders!" I greeted the elderly couple with a big smile and their faces lit up instantly."A beautiful event you have going on here, honey." Mrs Sanders remarked, reaching out to hold my hands.I felt my heart warm at her compliments, knowing I put a lot into this occasion.Dante was going to be away for a while and even if he was around, he'd probably still be busy ignoring me. So I had to get busy myself too.I sent invites to all the wealthiest, most influential people in the city. I wanted to bring them all together for the official opening of my charity foundation.A foundation to build back everything my father destroyed, give back e

  • What The Don Wants   Morning after

[Just a little reminder that although Kayla is referred to as 'young', she's not exactly underage. she is 19, which still makes her the youngest of all the characters in this book, hence Isla's protective nature.]Isla~The fresh scent of flowers and dew, coupled with the continuous chirping of morning birds made my eyelids flutter open.I was immediately greeted the rays of sun filtering through the windows and illuminating the whole room. A small groan left my lips as I shot up from the bed, finding Dante's side empty.Of course I wouldn't expect him to be here to kiss me good morning now, right? I was way smarter than that.I lazily rolled out of bed to walk to the bathroom and that was when I realized.I was naked.Fully naked.Memories of what happened last night began rushing into my head like it had all been a dream. I felt my face slowly heating up as the realization set in. The things I let him do to me, the way he touched me.I could still feel how sore I was, despite th

  • What The Don Wants   War

Dante~She was asleep.Barely.I could tell by the way her body trembled slightly, her breathing shallow, like she didn't trust herself to relax...even in my bed.Our bed.Her back was turned to me, the sheets pulled up to her shoulder. Hiding herself. Probably trying to piece together what had just happened. But I wasn't confused.No. I was clear.Crystal fucking clear. She was mine.No matter how many times she ran, no matter who she ran to, I would always bring her back.Because Isla wasn’t just some bargaining chip. She wasn’t just a wife I married for revenge or leverage. At least, not anymore. She was a fucking addiction. And it pissed me off as much as it excited me.I never imagined that ravaging her would feel that good.My jaw clenched as I sat up, dragging a hand through my hair. Every muscle in my body ached from the way I took her. Hard, unrelenting, punishing. She didn’t fight me. Not once. But that didn't mean she wanted it.She said she'd do anything.I gave her a choi

  • What The Don Wants   Anything

Isla~"Please...please, stop!" I screamed, my throat raw, the words barely cutting through the chaos around me.Jake's blood was everywhere. On the pavement. On their knuckles. On his clothes. He groaned and writhed under the brutal force of Dante's men, who continuously pummelled him for trying to help us escape their Boss. They dragged Kayla away from me, her terrified eyes locked on mine as she struggled against their grip. Still silent. Still voiceless. But her scream was in her eyes. And mine were wet with tears."Dante, please!" I cried out again, stumbling toward him, falling to my knees when I couldn't keep up with the weight in my chest. "I'll do anything! Just stop them!"He didn’t flinch. His black eyes stayed on Jake’s broken form, hands buried in his pockets as if this was all beneath him. As if it didn't matter. But it did.To me.I crawled forward, grabbing the hem of his coat, desperate now."Please, I'm begging you! Don't kill him!""I'll do anything you ask of me, I

  • What The Don Wants   Running

Isla~Today marked the end of the three days ultimatum given to me by Dante. And I was long ready.I knew what it meant for Dante to get rid of things he deemed a problem, and I didn't stick around to let him do it.While he was out last night, I took Kayla with me, grabbing a few of our stuff and driving into the night in one of Dante's Ferrari.Kayla seemed a little startled by our sudden movement but remained quiet as always.Together, we booked a suite at the far side of the city. We would complete our journey the following day, far away from Dante and his hatred.I didn't mind leaving everything behind for Kayla. She was my responsibility now.Afterall, it was my father who did this to her. He sold her into this life of mystery.Another one of his sins I had to pay for.I would never be able to live with myself if Dante had her sent away."We'll be safe here for the night." I said to her as her eyes wandered around our suite.I could feel her discomfort and unease, but she still

  • What The Don Wants   Broken things

Dante~The study still reeked of scotch. The silence that followed Isla's exit lingered like smoke, curling through the corners of the room, suffocating. I stood there, staring at the glass in my hand, watching the liquid swirl slowly before I tossed it back without a second thought. It burned less than it should have. Probably because I've had way too much of it.I leaned forward, bracing myself on the edge of the desk as the weight of our argument replayed in my head. Her words echoed louder now, stripped of the fire we both threw at each other."If she goes, then I'm going with her."I clenched my jaw.Damn her.Damn that stubborn fire in her eyes. The one that always makes her stand her ground, even when she is afraid. Even when she should be running in the opposite direction. She wasn't just defending that girl. She was defying me.And yet…A part of me knew I'd been too harsh. The words had come out sharper than I intended. The pain still clawed at me from the inside, a constant

  • What The Don Wants   Three days

Isla~Dante had stayed back in Los Angeles for whatever reason.Although I suspected it had something to do with grieving his late sister. He had clearly ordered that we head back to Vegas and avoid waiting for him.I took in a deep breath to calm my racing heart, before opening the door to his study. Apparently, that's where he had been since he came back. And he sent for me.The smell of strong liquor greeted me almost immediately and I had the urge to scrunch up my nose.Dante had his back to me but I could still see how heavy the grief rested on his shoulders. His hair was a disheveled mess as he had undoubtedly ran his fingers through it over and over again. His posture was hunched over as he looked out of his window at the scenery down below.I took a step forward, instinctively trying to be as quiet as I could be. It felt like a bad idea to startle him in this state. He however seemed to be aware of my presence already. He, however, seemed to be aware of my presence already.
