Isla~

I stood frozen at the scene before me.

Bodies littered every corner and they weren't moving.

The air was thick with the smell of gunpowder and death.

I willed myself to follow the bloody trail and Fernando was right behind me, his finger resting on a trigger.

My heart pounded viciously in my chest as I feared what might have become of him.

Dante.

I quickened my pace in hopes of reaching him faster.

And finally, I saw him.

Standing tall in the midst of the bodies stacked on each other, an eerily calm look in his eyes. The dark, dangerous aura that surrounded him, giving him an appearance of an angel of death.

He took them all himself and remained standing, ready for more.

Dante may have successfully eliminated Harry and his men but his expression was anything but triumphant.

Behind that calm demeanor was a mixture of pain and sadness. He cocked his gun again taking a step forward in preparation for one more kill.

Harry.

The latter was sitting up again a wall, hand on his chest

  • What The Don Wants   Salvation

[A/N: Hello beautiful readers! Just in case you haven't noticed, this book is slowly coming to an end as I have other works to commence. I however would like to use this opportunity to appreciate all my loyal readers, who followed this story from the very beginning till this point. Really, I appreciate y'all. You've made this writing journey a really wonderful one for me.]Isla~The cuffs bit into my wrists again as I shifted in the chair, a defiant glint in my eyes as I stared down the bastard seated across from me.Jake. Smug, composed, legs crossed like this was just a friendly reunion. And behind him, like some deranged scarecrow, stood the woman from earlier; Veronica. Her arms were folded, but her stance screamed readiness. Like if I so much as blinked wrong, she would put a bullet in me.I yanked at the cuffs once more, metal scraping metal. "You're wasting your time." I spat, my voice sharp with loathing. "Dante's not coming. You are delusional if you think he would ever

  • What The Don Wants   Don't come

Dante~"Where the fuck is she?!" I roared, my voice thundering through the hall and slamming into every gilded wall and marbled surface like a wrecking ball.Chandeliers trembled, glasses tipped over and heads turned."Where is my wife?!"I didn't wait for an answer. I couldn't. My blood was boiling, and my vision had narrowed into a tunnel of blind fury. I shoved the nearest man in a suit, knocking him to the ground like a sack of flour."She went to the funking bathroom twenty minutes ago!" I yelled, grabbing another startled guest by the collar. "Now she's gone! My wife and my child are gone!"Gasps rippled through the room, followed by the shuffling of feet and murmured confusion. Some faces turned away. Others watched with wide, uncertain eyes. No one dared to move closer. No one, except the poor bastard who thought putting a hand on my shoulder might calm me down.Big mistake.I whirled around and cracked my fist against his jaw. He dropped like a stone."Stay the fuck away from

  • What The Don Wants   Fake

Isla ~The night stretched longer than I had initially imagined.Santiago pulled Dante from one circle to the other as they indulged in various discussions that were of little to no interest to me.A couple of formal introductions here and there, forced pleasantries and smiles that I only seemed to be getting better at.Dante however looked like he was genuinely having a great time. And watching him was like a parent watching their child interact with other children of the same age. It was really...something, even though my feet were killing me in these heels. And I was already feeling the need to visit the bathroom yet again...for the umpteenth time.Another waiter offered me some glasses of champagne and before I could even get a chance to decline, Dante reached out to take a glass.I arched an eyebrow at him but alas! He couldn't see it due to the silly mask on my face. He however seemed to understand my look, letting off a shrugged."What? I'm drinking for both of you." He said,

  • What The Don Wants   Masks

Isla~I hated masks. Not just because they itched or made it hard to breathe...or, worse, messed with my makeup, but because they were the perfect metaphor for everything I had grown to despise in this new world of mine: secrecy, deception, danger dressed in elegance."Do we really have to wear these stupid things?" I grumbled, holding the ornate mask delicately between my fingers as the limo hummed smoothly beneath us.Dante didn't say anything right away. He was seated beside me in the back of the stretch limo, his posture relaxed as ever, one long leg casually draped over the other. He turned his head toward me, eyes gleaming with quiet amusement behind his unreadable expression."You want to get in, don't you?" he asked with a chuckle, reaching for his own mask;a sleek black one with gold accents that matched mine.I rolled my eyes. "Can't we just show up like normal people?""This is normal," he replied, his voice like velvet and steel all at once."Cosa nostra has its traditions

  • What The Don Wants   Aisle 6

A/N: Trying out this third person style of writing again, so please let me know what you feel about it in the comments.]The city passed in a blur.Cars honked, neon lights flickered in reds and yellows. Pedestrians crossed streets without waiting for signals. But Isla barely registered any of it as she sat stiffly in the back seat of the sedan, her fingers clenching the hem of her jacket in her lap.She had insisted on taking no bodyguards, going againstDante's directive. However, she was also convinced that it would bring less attention that way. There would be no black-clad stalker flanking her every move, no furious crowd rushing at her...and no paparazzi. But she wasn't naive. She knew the danger. The people still hated Dante, and by extension, they hated her.The driver's voice snapped her out of her thoughts."Everything alright, Madame?"Isla blinked, caught off guard by the question. She hadn't expected him to speak, much less notice her mood. She forced a tight-lipped smile

  • What The Don Wants   Hiding

Dante~The tense silence in the atmosphere lingered for too long, as calculating gazes were passed from each side of the table.I still had my eyes fixated on Isla and she must have noticed it because she was suddenly squirming in her seat.I didn't like this. It reminded me of her tendency to do really dangerous things.I opened my mouth to say something but before I could get any word out..."You fools!" My eyes darted to the man kneeling before us, as a wild grin was now spread across his face. The men were immediately on high alert, ready incase he tried to do anything stupid."Is this all you got?" He continued, his voice climbing an octave higher."Is this the level of your power?""Is this..." His eyes suddenly landed on Isla and I could have sworn, I heard her take a sharp inhale."...how you plan to fight the truth? The justice that is coming for you all?"I didn't want to believe it but from the way he looked at isla, I could see something similar to recognition in his ey
