Olivia’s Pov:

I stepped out of the cab and curiously looked around at the bustling city streets.

It was my first day in a new city and I couldn't help feeling both excited and nervous. I took a deep breath and looked up at the tall buildings that surrounded me, their glass facades reflecting the early morning light. I had always dreamed of living in a big city, and now that dream was finally coming true.

I walked down the sidewalk, I could see people hurrying to work, coffee in one hand and briefcase in the other. I wondered what was going through their minds, are they happy? or are they still rushing towards their job because that's the best suitable thing to do?

The sound of car horns and chatter filled the air, and I felt a sense of energy and excitement that I had never experienced before.

I was wearing a knee-length black skirt with a white blouse tucked in, paired with simple black heels. My long brown hair was pulled back into a high ponytail and with minimal makeup. I dressed appropriately it boosted my confidence a little more.

I quickly reached the entrance of the building where I would be starting my new job.

I paused for a moment and took another deep breath, knowing in my heart that this was the beginning of a new chapter in my life. I was determined to make the most of it.

Leaving my horrid past behind. I quickly put up a bright smile on my face, as I pushed open the door and stepped into the lobby, ready to start my new adventure in ‘Adam Publishing Company’ as an assistant to Mr.Adams.

The office was a bustling hive filled with activities. People were moving around so quickly, some with documents in hand and others on the phone. The sound of typing and clicking keyboards was making my head spin, punctuated by the occasional ring of a phone or beep of an email notification.  All the confidence I felt minutes back started to fall with the happening event in front of me, and suddenly I felt overwhelmed.

In one corner of the room, a group of colleagues are huddled around a desk, discussing a project. In another corner, a lone employee sits at their desk, eyes fixed on the computer screen as they type away. The clock on the wall ticks loudly, a reminder that time is ticking away.

A manager walks briskly through the room, clipboard in hand, checking in on various employees and offering quick words of encouragement or guidance.

I recognized him. He was the senior manager Mr. Stewart who took my interview. I approached him.

“Good morning! Mr. Stewart.” I said warmly while keeping my hands by my side. I didn't want to show him how nervous and intimidating it was, all making me feel. As my hand trembled a little.

“Miss Paul! Good morning, I am glad you are here, I was waiting for you.” He smiled at me and I felt welcomed.

“Come let me give you a quick tour of the company during it. I will tell you about what your job entails, then you can start your job, the boss is in a meeting right now,” he explained and started walking forward and I walked behind him without a word.

As he leads me through the corridor, pointing out the sleek and modern design of the lobby.

“Here at the reception, Rosie sits here if you have any query you can ask her.” He said as we walked by her desk. The receptionist at the front desk greeted me warmly as we passed by.

As they enter the main office area, he explains the open-concept layout, with rows of desks and cubicles stretching as far as the eye can see. The office is filled with natural light, thanks to the large windows that line the walls. He also explained which cubicle and important people I will be required to meet if a certain problem arose.

We walked past a series of meeting rooms, each with glass walls that showcase the dynamic discussions taking place inside. Some rooms are filled with laughter and animated gestures, while others are quiet and focused.

As we continued, he pointed out various departments, each with its unique vibe. The walls are adorned with colorful mood boards and artwork placed on the walls.

In the break room, the guide highlights the various amenities available to employees, including a coffee bar, fridge, and microwave. Glad they give coffee hopefully it's good. A ping-pong table and comfortable lounge chairs provide a space for relaxation and socializing.

Throughout the tour, He emphasized the company's commitment to collaboration, innovation, and employee well-being. He focused on how important it is to be on time as

Mr. Adams likes people who are serious about their job.

As the tour came to an end, we came to the last floor, we stopped at a door on which Mr. Adam was written in bold letters, probably this is the CEO's office.

“So this was it, now you know how things go around here and I hope the other things you will learn quickly as time goes.”  He said and I nodded my head quickly as I collected myself after the whole tour and briefing on my job. All of this felt new and it made me feel anxious and scared. I looked behind at the lift and I thought to run as fast as possible but I calmed myself thinking about the reason I came to New York in the first place.

I hope I succeed without getting fired in the first week.

“Yes, Sir I understood everything you said,” I said to him, looking at him with confidence as I spoke he stepped forward towards my small cubicle beside the boss's office and pointed towards an intercom, and showed me how it worked.

“You would press this red button and it would directly connect you to Mr. Adams, then you can transfer any messages, and similarly he can connect with you with his intercom in case he needs you with any work.” He explained.

“Now last thing Mr. Adams is in the meeting and he knows you are coming so go to the left and you would find the board meeting room and attend the meeting.” He said.

I hurried towards the meeting room not wanting to disappoint my boss on my very first day, but I guess luck is not on my side today, as I smacked my head on the glass door. As I thought it was open.

I fall to the ground on my butt, I rubbed my head, and as I lifted my head I saw several heads looking at me and a quick realization came flashing in my mind. I just made a disaster entry. Forget about getting fired in the first week. I am surely getting fired on my first day. Oops, Cheers to the new beginnings!

  • When He Found Me   Chapter 35- A Bitter Cup

The room was cold and utterly silent, cloaked in a thick, endless darkness that seemed to swallow sound itself. A small boy sat on the hard floor, his back pressed against the unyielding door, fists clenched and eyes wide with fear. He had pounded on that door, over and over, until his small hands throbbed, his knuckles raw and bruised. Every desperate knock echoed back, empty and unanswered. And as his strength waned, so did the knocks — at first loud, desperate slams, but now, weak, faint taps, barely audible, as though he was fading along with the sound. He didn’t know how long he had been here. The hours twisted into each other, stretching endlessly until he lost any sense of time. His stomach growled, the ache growing sharper, more painful, each minute as he tried to swallow down the thirst that scraped his throat dry. But worse than hunger, worse than thirst, was the creeping dread that seeped into his bones, the feeling of being forgotten, abandoned, and left alone in the dark.

  • When He Found Me   Chapter 34- It’s Over

Why did I even bother going after her? Why did I think, for one second, that I could fix everything? That somehow seeing her, talking to her, would make everything alright. What a fool I was. I wanted so badly to believe in her, to believe that this love we had was something real, something worth fighting for.But now, all I see is the truth, plain and brutal. She was cheating on me with another man—Simon, of all people. And the worst part is, she didn’t even care. She didn’t care that she was tearing me apart, ripping out the very heart I had so stupidly placed in her hands. She looked at him, she let him touch her, and I was the one left there standing like an idiot, watching the whole thing play out. And then, when she saw me standing there, her eyes wide with shock, she didn’t even have the decency to chase after me. She didn’t call my name, didn’t explain, didn’t do anything that might show me I still mattered to her.No, she just stood there, frozen, as if my heartbreak meant n

  • When He Found Me   Chapter 33- Smirk and Everything Else.

I walked back to my apartment, each step weighed down by the heavy burden of everything that had happened today. My mind was a blur of thoughts, each one more painful than the last. Was this what it felt like to lose everything? I never imagined that falling in love with Lucas would happen so quickly, so intensely. These past three months had been like a beautiful whirlwind, filling my life with joy and hope I hadn’t felt in so long. But now, all of that felt like it was slipping through my fingers, and I couldn’t shake the fear that I might never get him back, that he might never forgive me.Even though Lucas had said those hurtful words to me, there was something in his eyes that made me pause. He seemed distant, almost lost, like he was trapped in his own thoughts, questioning his own words. I couldn’t help but think that maybe he was hiding something too, something he wasn’t ready to share. It gave me a sliver of hope, but also filled me with confusion. What if I wasn’t the only on

  • When He Found Me   Chapter 32- Confronting Past Shadows

The bell rang, its sound piercing through the fog of my hangover. I knew in my heart who it was. Did I want to meet her? Certainly not. All I wanted was to run away and never see her face again. But my heart was beating too fast, a conflicting desire pulling me toward the door. I wanted to reach her, to take her in my arms, but I was too scared. What if she was here to throw it in my face, to mock me for being so foolish to fall in love with her? What if my mother was right all along, and I didn’t deserve love? The bell rang again, cutting through my thoughts. It was persistent, just like her. She was determined to see me and hadn't left yet. Was there hope for us? Could we save this relationship? With a sigh, I put on my slippers, my head pounding from the hangover. I placed a hand on my forehead, trying to steady myself. Each step toward the door felt like a march toward the inevitable. I wasn’t ready to forgive her, but I wasn’t ready to lose her either. The conflict tore at my hea

  • When He Found Me   Chapter 31-  The Weight of Betrayal

Life could have been anything but not a disaster like this one. It was too tough and, at the same time, bone-crushing. Looking at Blake gave me both anxiety and immense relief. I could see the anger in his eyes, reflecting the betrayal he felt on behalf of his brother. He knew. He knew about my betrayal to Lucas. My legs felt like they were made of lead. I wanted to reach out to him, to explain, but every step I tried to take felt like I was moving backward instead of forward. Blake took a determined step toward me, his eyes never leaving mine. All I wanted was to turn and run as fast as I could, to escape this confrontation, but we both knew silently that I wouldn’t.Just like me, Blake needed answers. And I needed to know if Lucas was safe. My efforts felt futile, but I still wanted to stay—stay for Lucas, stay for our relationship, which we had built so beautifully in such a short time."Blake," I managed to say, my voice trembling. "What are you doing here?"Blake stepped closer,

  • When He Found Me   Chapter 30- Where is Lucas

The night was a blur of tears and regret. I sat on the edge of our bed, clutching my phone tightly, waiting for Lucas to call back. Each passing minute felt like an eternity, and the silence from his end was deafening. I had called him repeatedly, leaving voicemails, but he never picked up. The weight of my secrets and the fear of losing him pressed heavily on my chest."Please, Lucas, just pick up," I whispered, my voice breaking as tears streamed down my cheeks. But the phone remained silent, mocking my desperation. Eventually, exhaustion took over, and I cried myself to sleep, curled up in a ball, feeling more alone than ever.Morning came too soon, and I jolted awake, a sense of dread settling over me. My first instinct was to reach for my phone, hoping that maybe, just maybe, Lucas had called. My heart raced as I saw the screen light up, but my hope was quickly dashed when I saw the name: Cara.Caroline was calling me. I wondered what she wanted at this time of the morning. Reluc
