Chapter 7

Author: Tcee Eke
Seraphina’s POV

The first thing I felt when I woke up was warmth. It wasn't the painful, suffocating heat of a hospital room or the burning ache that had followed me since the abortion.

This was the kind of warmth that made me feel safe and relaxed.

Slowly, I opened my eyes. Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing the luxurious room in a soft golden glow. Fresh flowers sat on a nearby table and expensive paintings decorated the walls.

For a moment, I thought I was dreamin

  • When His First Love Returned, I Left   Chapter 15

Seraphina’s POVFor the first time in ten years, I woke up feeling peaceful. There was no anxiety sitting in my chest. I wasn’t reaching for my phone to see whether Silas had called. I wasn’t wondering when he would come home or whether he missed me. The constant waiting that had consumed my life for so many years was finally gone.A knock sounded on the door before my second brother walked in carrying a breakfast tray.“What is this?” I asked, laughing. He grinned. “Breakfast for our long-lost princess.”“You’ve been calling me that every day.”“And I’ll continue calling you that.”I shook my head helplessly while he placed the tray down. Before leaving, his smile faded slightly.“The Wolfe family is outside.”I wasn’t surprised.Ever since Evelyn’s lies were exposed and Wolfe Group lost control of the company, I knew this moment would come eventually.Twenty minutes later, I walked downstairs. The moment I entered the living room, I saw them. Chairman Wolfe sat beside Silas on the so

  • When His First Love Returned, I Left   Chapter 14

Silas’s POVThe moment the boardroom doors closed behind us, Chairman Wolfe exploded. His cane slammed violently against the marble floor. “How dare she!”The old man’s face was red with fury. “That ungrateful girl!”Nobody answered. For the first time in years, nobody rushed to comfort him. Nobody agreed with him. Nobody reassured him that everything would be fine.Because everyone knew it wasn’t.Wolfe Group had just lost eighty percent of its shares. The company no longer belonged to us.It belonged to Seraphina. The realization felt unreal.Chairman Wolfe continued ranting all the way back to the mansion.Evelyn sat quietly beside me in the car. Normally, I would’ve reached for her hand. Normally, I would’ve reassured her.Today, I couldn’t because my mind kept replaying the same scene over and over again. The mansion felt emptier than ever that night. For years, I never noticed how much of my life Seraphina quietly handled. The flowers in the foyer, my meals, my schedules, the end

  • When His First Love Returned, I Left   Chapter 13

Seraphina’s POVThe silence inside the boardroom was deafening. Every single person stared at the divorce papers in Silas’s hands.I watched the color drain from his face. For the first time since I met him ten years ago, he looked completely lost. His eyes remained fixed on the document as though staring at it long enough would somehow change the words.“No.” His voice was low, almost hoarse. The room remained silent.Silas looked up. His gaze landed on me immediately.“No.” He repeated the word, “This isn’t possible.”I leaned back comfortably in my chair. “Seems pretty possible to me.”His jaw tightened, “You tricked me.”A laugh escaped my lips. The accusation was so ridiculous that I almost felt insulted.“I tricked you?” I raised an eyebrow, “You mean the same way you tricked me into aborting our child?”The room immediately froze. Several directors sucked in sharp breaths.Chairman Wolfe looked stunned. Evelyn’s face turned white. Meanwhile, Silas looked as though I had slapped

  • When His First Love Returned, I Left   Chapter 12

Silas’s POVThe moment Seraphina and Chairman Vale disappeared from sight, the atmosphere inside Vale Shopping Plaza became strange.Nobody spoke. Nobody moved. It felt as though everyone was waiting for someone to explain what had just happened.Unfortunately, nobody could.Chris was the first to snap. His face was pale with anger as he rounded on Evelyn.“Are you happy now?”Evelyn froze. “What?”“You said she was lying!” His voice rose with every word. “You said that man wasn’t Chairman Vale!”Evelyn’s eyes widened. “Chris, I—”“I lost my job because of you!” His hands trembled. “My fiancée left me because of you!”The surrounding shoppers immediately turned to watch.Evelyn’s face turned ugly. “How is this my fault?”Chris laughed bitterly. “Whose fault is it then? If you hadn’t dragged me into this—”“Enough!” Chairman Wolfe’s furious voice cut through the argument.Everyone immediately fell silent. The old man’s face looked terrible. For the first time since I knew him, he looked

  • When His First Love Returned, I Left   Chapter 11

Silas’s POVThe moment we stepped into Vale Shopping Plaza, Chairman Wolfe looked pleased with himself. The old man walked through the grand entrance with his head held high while several employees greeted him respectfully. The VIP invitation cards had worked exactly as promised.Around us, shoppers glanced over curiously. Some recognized Chairman Wolfe immediately. Others recognized Evelyn.Evelyn smiled happily as she linked her arm through mine.“I’ve always wanted to shop here,” she said.Chairman Wolfe laughed. “Buy whatever you want. You earned it.”Chris looked equally pleased. After all, the contract existed because of him.For some reason, I wasn’t paying attention. My eyes kept drifting toward my phone but there wasn't anything on it.My jaw tightened. Three days and she hadn’t contacted me once. That wasn’t like her. Before I could think further, Evelyn suddenly stopped walking. Her body stiffened.“Silas.” Her voice immediately changed.I looked up and then froze. Seraphina

  • When His First Love Returned, I Left   Chapter 10

Silas’s POVThe mansion felt strangely quiet. The moment I walked through the front doors, something felt wrong. For several seconds, I stood there staring at the empty foyer. Usually, by this time of day, Seraphina would already be waiting.Sometimes she would be carrying documents. Sometimes she would have dinner prepared. Sometimes she would simply smile and ask whether I was tired.Today there was nothing. The realization irritated me more than it should have.I loosened my tie and walked further inside. The servants lowered their heads respectfully. None of them spoke. The silence felt uncomfortable.I frowned.“Where is everyone?”The butler hesitated.“Miss Seraphina used to handle most household matters herself.”I froze briefly. Then I continued walking. My mood immediately worsened. For ten years, Seraphina had quietly taken care of everything. I never noticed how much she did until she stopped. The thought annoyed me. She was acting like a child. A few days away from home an
