Chapter 2

Author: Spoiled Wolf
I frowned.

"What do you mean?"

Brad flashed a bright smile.

"When Ms. Jones saw this tie, she thought it suited me, so she bought it for me.

"But I didn't really like the style, so I asked Ms. Jones to return it."

This was the tie she had given me on our seventh wedding anniversary six months ago.

"School meetings kept me busy all day, but I found some time to stop by the mall and pick out a tie. I thought it suited you, so I bought it."

Looking at the thin striped design on the tie, I smiled and teased her.

"I'm almost thirty. Why are you still buying me things meant for younger guys?"

She had only leaned over and kissed my forehead.

"In my eyes, you'll always be the same young man you were ten years ago.

"I'm going to make dinner. Then we'll have a nice candlelit dinner to celebrate our anniversary."

Tears once again filled my swollen eyes, and I guessed I must look terrible at that moment.

I ripped the tie off my neck and threw it onto the floor, where it quickly became covered in dust.

Olivia sounded slightly displeased.

"Okay, calm down. I did forget the date that day.

"But it would've been awkward to go back and pick out something else for you, so I gave you that instead. Besides, you've been wearing it for the past six months. Don’t you like it?"

Finally, I snapped.

I grabbed the iced Americano in front of me and threw it in her face.

"I didn't keep wearing it because I liked it. I wore it because it was from you!

"Olivia, what am I to you?"

As soon as the last words left my mouth, a sharp pain twisted through my stomach, and I collapsed back into my chair.

However, the next second, a cup of sticky, warm milk was poured over my head.

"Drew! I've always respected you, but how could you throw coffee at Ms. Jones in public?

"If that's how you're going to act, then don't blame me for returning the favor."

Olivia immediately tried to calm him down.

"That's enough, Brad. We came here today for the divorce agreement. Let's not make a bigger scene out of this."

After Brad helped wipe the coffee off her face and clothes, Olivia extended her hand toward me.

"Just sign the divorce papers and hand them over. Let's not waste each other's time."

"I'm not signing. As long as we're not divorced, Brad will always be nothing more than a shameful homewrecker."

The moment I refused, her temper flared.

"Drew, you have a lover outside this marriage, too. Divorce would be the best outcome for both of us."

I gave her the same answer.

"I don't!

"Yesterday was April Fool's. I thought you were lying to me, so I played along and lied back! The only person who betrayed this marriage from beginning to end was you!"

But she simply said, "Believe whatever you want. This divorce is happening no matter what.

"Brad gave himself to me last night.

"Unlike you, he's pure. I need to take responsibility for him."

Her words stabbed directly into the most fragile and painful place in my heart.

Ten years ago, on a night I could never forget, a group of thugs drugged me because of my youthful appearance.

They recorded videos of me and stripped me of my dignity.

I was only eighteen years old.

It was Olivia who rushed in with the police like a beam of light, rescuing me from that nightmare.

I could still remember what she said.

"Don't be afraid. I'm here, and I’ll always be by your side.

"Go give your statement to the police first. They'll make sure justice is served."

We had been classmates back then, but after that night, we shared an unspoken secret.

We grew closer and closer, and eventually we were accepted into the same university.

After graduation, when we were twenty-two, we got married.

She was the one who said she didn't care about my past, only about me.

However, now she had turned that very thing into a knife and driven it straight into my heart.

The pain made it difficult to breathe.

After gathering my thoughts, I finally asked, "When did this start?"

She didn't hesitate.

"Yesterday was our one-year anniversary. Today is day three hundred and sixty-six."

She remembered it with perfect clarity.

"No thanks," I answered immediately. "When you blocked every way I had of contacting you, why didn't you think a day might come?"She frowned deeply."Weren't you the one who blocked me?"Just then, Brad was escorted out by police officers. The moment Olivia saw him, she marched over and slapped him across the face."You b*st*rd! How many times have you lied to me?!"Still wearing handcuffs, Brad broke down crying."Olivia, I only lied because I love you!"I forged the evidence because I was afraid you'd leave me! I only did all those ridiculous things because I loved you too much!"I'm begging you, please forgive me this once. I can't live without you."Olivia let out a broken laugh. She looked like she wanted nothing more than to punch herself for being such a fool. Then she turned back to me and grabbed my sleeve."Drew, we've been together for ten years. Can't you give me one chance to make things right?"I promise I'll never let anyone deceive me again."At that momen

Olivia's clenched fists slowly relaxed. She looked at me, then at Brad. After giving the defense attorney another look, she gritted her teeth and tightly shut her eyes. The attorney immediately understood the signal and spoke up."The plaintiff's evidence appears very comprehensive, but how can we prove these chat records weren't fabricated?"I snorted and pulled out the final stack of documents."Before we continue, let's talk about something else for a moment. “Brad, why exactly did you go to that private hospital for all those procedures to remove any trace of prior sexual activities?"Was it so you could convince my ex-wife that you were innocent and inexperienced, and make her divorce me so she could take responsibility for you?"The color instantly drained from Brad's face.Olivia's eyes snapped open as well. She stared frantically at the documents in my hand. Her eyes filled with rage almost immediately as she demanded an explanation from Brad."You lied to me? You t

At 10 a.m. on the eighth, I arrived at the courthouse right on time.Olivia was dressed in a sharp business suit, while Brad stood beside her in a white linen shirt. When Olivia saw me, she froze for a moment. She seemed surprised to see me looking so composed and put together. Then she walked straight into the building and said in her usual commanding tone, "Let's get this done."The moment I stepped inside, my eyes began to sting. The last time I had been here was seven years ago.Back then, Olivia had grabbed my hand and practically dragged me through the doors in excitement.I could still remember what she said."Drew! Are we really getting married?"I'm so happy I don't know what to do! It doesn't even feel real! Is this really happening?"At the time, I had simply stood there laughing at how adorable she was. Over and over again, I kept telling her the same thing. "It's real."Back then, we had ever imagined we would return here for this reason.Once we received the

"AI-generated?" she shot back. "What are you talking about?"I let out a cold laugh."They gave you the court summons, didn't they? Why are you pretending not to know?"Before I could finish speaking, Olivia's phone rang.Brad's weak voice came through from the other end."Ms. Jones, I... I don't feel well. My stomach hurts so much. Can you take me to the hospital?"Without the slightest hesitation, she abandoned me and ran back upstairs. Before leaving, however, she didn't forget to add, "Remember to withdraw the lawsuit. Brad has photographic evidence of your affair. You're not going to win this case."I only realized then that she had never actually read the summons.Gritting my teeth, I forced myself to stand and limped upstairs after her. Before I even reached the apartment, I saw Olivia helping a visibly distressed Brad downstairs.Neither of them spared me a single glance as they passed me.After packing the last of my belongings and taking my suitcase, I left the pl

After saying that, I hung up the phone.I was planning to go home, pack my things, and move out. However, before I even reached the front door, I saw our wedding portrait sitting outside like a piece of trash.Looking at Olivia's bright smile in the photo, I felt a sharp pain stab through my heart. Now that things had changed, maybe it was better this way. After entering the code and unlocking the door, I stepped inside and immediately heard the unmistakable sounds of a man and woman getting it on from the bedroom.I looked around the living room to find that every photo of Olivia and me was gone. She really couldn't wait to cut all ties with me.While listening to those filthy sounds, I opened my suitcase and began packing my belongings.Just as I was about to retrieve my parents' portrait, I realized it was missing.Anger instantly surged through me.I kicked the bedroom door open, interrupting them."Where is my parents' portrait?"Brad let out a startled cry, and Olivi

My heart clenched painfully, and I grabbed the hem of Olivia's dress as I tried to explain."Listen to me. I don't even know that woman!""I don't want to hear it."Olivia interrupted me, her expression clearly irritated."You can refuse to sign if you want, and we'll just settle it in court. It'll take a little longer, but the outcome will be the same."The pain in my stomach grew worse, while my heart ached with every beat. After two seconds of silence, I finally spoke in a hoarse voice."Yeah. I can't afford to drag this out."After taking the signed divorce agreement from me, she tossed me a bank card."You were with me for ten years, after all. There’s five million dollars in there. It should last you a long time."It was almost laughable.Ten years of youth and devotion, and in exchange, she had built a fortune worth tens of billions, while I was apparently worth only five million.Holding Brad's hand, she slowly walked out of the hospital room.My vision blurred wit

I laughed."You've been together for that long, and yesterday was the first time you slept together?"A look of disdain appeared at the corner of her lips."Brad respects himself. He insisted on waiting until we'd been together for a full year before giving me his first time."I already told you

The intense discomfort made me dry heave uncontrollably.I quickly called Olivia Jones back, but she didn't answer until the third call.Even through the phone, I could hear an indescribable sound of heavy breathing coming from the other end."Do you have questions about the terms of the divorce
