Serena's Point of View

"Serena."

I stopped gathering my things and looked up.

The project update meeting with the CEO had just ended.

Ben and Jack had already packed their belongings and were about to head toward the door.

Adrian was closing his laptop, but he raised his eyes slightly and looked at me.

"Stay for a moment."

My heart skipped a beat.

And I didn't even know why.

Ben and Jack both looked at me. There was a hint of curiosity in Ben's eyes, while Jack looked slightly concerned.

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   113. Collateral Damage

Adrian’s Point of View“You agreed you wouldn’t interfere with Henrix Properties.”I could barely control my anger. My father’s expression didn’t change.“You promised me that.”Henrix Properties was different from all the other companies under the giant Henrix Group.Though Mama had contributed greatly and given her expertise to build up most of Henrix Group, Henrix Properties was her baby. She had built it even before she married my father. It was her ideas. Her skills. Her sweat and blood. After getting married, she had simply connected it to the Group and changed the name.Otherwise, the man in front of me had no right to even talk about it.But now he was trying to put that woman’s son inside it?“Noah can work anywhere else in the Group. Not Henrix Properties.”“I’m not interfering with your management of Henrix Properties.”“I want your younger brother to receive proper training.”“Then train him yourself.”His eyes hardened.“If I wanted him to end up being someone like me, ma

Adrian’s Point of View“Adrian!”Marita’s face lit up the moment she saw me.As if me standing in front of her was the best fucking thing that had happened to her in a long time.“I’m so happy to see you.”She walked toward me with that perfectly practiced smile.I stared at her.Sometimes I genuinely wondered how much effort she put into maintaining this image in front of my father.Did she practice that fucking smile in front of a mirror every day?She was about to give me a hug, but I took a step back, dodging her. There was a limit to how much even I could pretend. Her smile faltered for barely a second. Then it returned.“Your father is waiting for you.”I walked into the living room without saying anything.Richard Henrix, the man I had to call Father, was sitting there.“You finally decided to come.”As usual, that was his greeting.“I was busy.”“Too busy to even answer your fucking phone?”My jaw tightened.“You know I don’t answer my phone on that day.”“Adrian.”His voice h

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   111. Perfect Timing

Serena’s Point of ViewHow much had really happened in just one night?Even by the time we reached my apartment, I still hadn’t completely processed everything that had happened since yesterday.I had literally forced Watson to take me to Adrian’s home because I couldn’t bear the thought of him suffering all alone. And somehow...I had come back wearing his clothes, after sleeping beside him, learning the darkest part of his past, the part he had never spoken about with anyone else. And also finding out that the little Angel Boy had missed me the same way I had missed him.And most importantly...I had finally realized that the feelings I had for this man actually had a name.A very beautiful name. The moment we reached the living room, Adrian started looking around.“Where is it?”I frowned.“Where is what?”“The cake.”“Aren’t you impatient, Mr. Henrix?” I chuckled.“I thought you hated cakes.”“I do.” He frowned.“But not this one,” he added slowly.Since I found out that he had re

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   110. I Missed You So Much

Adrian’s Point of ViewYou kept this all these years? My hand remained over hers on the glass jar.Her fingers had tightened around it.So had mine.I stared at the side of her face.“What did you just say?”Serena didn’t say anything. Her gaze remained fixed on the paper plane inside the jar.“Serena.”Slowly, she looked at me.My eyes searched those brown eyes for an answer. But almost immediately, she looked down again.“I just...”She swallowed.“Isn’t this one of the paper planes from the orphanage?”I stared at her.She was clearly avoiding my question.Normally...I would never force her to tell me anything she wasn’t ready to tell me.But not this time.I couldn’t.“No.”She raised her eyes and looked at me.“You didn’t say, You’ve kept one of those paper planes all these years?”She let out a sigh.I moved slightly closer.“You said, You kept this all these years?”Her lips parted.“Adrian, I...”“You recognized it, didn’t you?”Silence.I could feel her fingers tightening ar

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   109. All These Years

Adrian’s Point of ViewFor a long moment, I simply stared at her.“What did you prepare?” I finally asked. She instantly lowered her eyes again.“A cake.”I stared at her.“You baked me a cake?”“A tiny one,” she immediately added, as if that somehow made it less significant.“A chocolate one with less sugar.”Then she slowly added,“I thought we could cut it before going to the office.”Her expression suddenly changed.“I’m really sorry... I didn’t know about your mom at the time. Otherwise, I would never have...”She let out a sigh.“Baked a cake.”She smiled painfully. That smile was filled with guilt.Something inside my chest twisted. For all these years...I had hated anyone acknowledging my birthday.I hated birthday wishes.I hated cakes.I hated any kind of celebration on this day.Because it wasn’t a day to celebrate. It wasn’t a day to be fucking happy. But somehow...For whatever fucking reason...That tiny chocolate cake with less sugar...The one she had baked for me...

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   108. The First

Serena's Point of View“You're the first... the first woman who's ever come to my home.”For a moment, I simply stared at him, not knowing how to process what he had said. All these months, when he stayed with me...Took care of me.Protected me.Held me.Made me fall in love with him...Had I at least once wondered about a man nearing thirty...A man who lacked nothing in his life...A man whose looks could compete with any celebrity...Wasn't there ever a woman?Someone special in his life throughout all these years?Maybe because I knew how he presented himself to the outside world.Ruthless.Emotionless.Cold.Indifferent.I had simply assumed that he had never opened himself up to anyone.Maybe my heart had come to that conclusion without even allowing me to think about it.However, now...When he calmly told me that I was the first woman in his home, let alone his bedroom...It felt completely different.“Adrian...” I murmured his name, not knowing what else to say.“I know my c

Serena’s Point of View“Sir… I didn’t realize you had arrived.”Marco’s tone shifted instantly into something respectful and polite as he stepped toward the table by the window. The tall man in the dark suit didn’t respond. Serena’s Point of View“For table seven!”Lucy called from the kitchen, and I quickly picked up the tray.It was a Friday evening, my third day at Lena’s. With Lena suddenly ill, Marco was managing the restaurant, and the whole place felt slightly off.I made my way through the crowded tables. The

Serena’s Point of ViewFinding a place to stay wasn’t easy, and I didn’t have the luxury to be picky. After a few calls and visits, I finally found a room in a shared apartment.Fortunately, they only required the monthly rent as a deposit. The place was small, just enough for a bed, a table, and a
