Chapter 159

Author: Deerstream
After Henry performed the surgery, no one came to bother Talia anymore. Her life gradually returned to normal.

Three days passed. That day, Talia got off work early and thought about heading back to the Stewart residence to prepare dinner for her family.

After spending half an hour in the kitchen, she had all the ingredients prepared when Maeve came home.

"Aunt Talia, I brought in your package for you!" Maeve called out loudly from the living room toward the kitchen.

Hearing this, Talia emerged from the kitchen. She saw Maeve placing a delivery box on the dining table. The packaging was exquisite. It was clearly Quentin's handiwork.

Recently, because of Henry's situation, she'd completely forgotten about Quentin. She kept reassuring herself that a man like him had only been interested on a whim, and that once enough time passed, he'd naturally forget what he'd said.

But nearly ten days had passed, and he was still sending things to her house. Talia couldn't help wondering whether

Quentin's hand was wrapped in bandages, but the blood from his palm had already seeped through, staining the cloth a deep red. The sight was jarring. His eyes burned a feverish red. As he stared into Talia's eyes, he rasped, "Look at me. Who am I?"Talia struggled beneath him, but with Quentin pressing down on her, she had nowhere to escape.Even though they were close, Quentin's weight was supported entirely by his knees, so it didn't bear down on Talia.Seeing his bloodshot eyes and the way he was teetering on the edge of losing control, she said, "Quentin. You're Quentin."At the sound of her voice, Quentin's tense body seemed to relax, and he gently rested his forehead against hers. Their faces were so close that their breaths mingled.Quentin didn't speak. He just stared at her with a sharp and piercing gaze as though he wanted to see right through her.Talia, feeling uncomfortable under his intense gaze, stammered, "W-Why are you here?"Before she could finish her thought

At Hell's Bar, the lights were dim and sultry. In one of the VIP booths on the second floor, three people were seated.Seamus had been the last to arrive. When he took his seat, there were already two bottles of red wine on the table.Quentin, who was sitting in the corner, had already downed over a bottle and a half.Lucas was with him. Despite having exhausted every word of advice, Quentin still kept pouring the wine down his throat.Sensing that things weren't right, Seamus chose to sit next to Lucas and asked, "What's wrong with him?"Lucas sighed helplessly. "What else? Love troubles, obviously."Love was a subject that Seamus knew little about, so he didn't respond.Lucas continued, "He's been down all day. You should try talking some sense into him."Seamus spread his palms in a gesture of helplessness. "I'm afraid I can't help you."The two of them exchanged glances, both unsure of how to help Quentin. The music blared in the background, and the lights downstairs dan

Two days after the flu passed, Talia was mostly feeling better. However, in the middle of the night, she still had a slight fever. In her groggy state, she heard the sound of her door being pushed open. The lights were off, but as the door opened, the hallway lights spilled in. A shadowy figure flickered in her hazy vision. She couldn't make out the figure, but she thought that it was probably Quentin. With a raspy voice, she tentatively called out, "Quentin?"The moment she spoke, she saw the figure pause.Slowly, the person stepped into view. To her surprise, it wasn't Quentin. It was Christian. When Christian sat by the bed, he reached out to feel her forehead. Noticing the fever, he pressed the nurse's call button to request medication. After the nurse brought the medicine and a glass of water, Christian helped Talia take it. Once she had, he looked down at her sweat-dampened face and asked, "Does he come to see you often?"Talia was caught off guard by the question, but

That evening, Willow had an event to attend, so she left when the Stewarts arrived at Talia's ward.Paige didn't come that night, but Garrett did, and he brought dinner.Since Talia was admitted to the hospital, Garrett hadn't visited her once. This was his first time coming to the hospital.Growing up together, Garrett was always a serious and no-nonsense kind of guy. He was methodical in everything he did, and his temperament was unpredictable.Although Talia knew him well, she still felt a bit uneasy being alone with him.She leaned back against the headboard, slowly eating the dinner Garrett had brought. He sat in a chair, peeling an orange. Once he had finished, he put the orange slices in a small box. After wiping his hands, he looked up at Talia and asked, "Where's Quentin?"The day Quentin had carried Talia out of the house, the entire Stewart family came to the hospital. Garrett had sent their parents home after they found out Talia had a fever. He had wanted to ask Q

When Christian noticed that Talia was no longer refusing his coat, he slowly withdrew his hand from her shoulder. At the same time, he replied, "I will."Talia looked at him and asked, "What do you want to talk about?"He lowered his gaze to Talia's face and asked, "Are you feeling better?"She didn't want to answer him. She impatiently said, "Get to the point."Christian paused for a moment. When he spoke again, his voice was tinged with apology. "I was too harsh that day. Don't take it to heart."Talia didn't even know which day he was referring to, nor did she care. To her, it didn't matter anymore. With a shrug, she replied indifferently, "It's fine. I'm used to it."Noticing that she didn't seem bothered at all, Christian continued explaining, "I didn't know you had a fever that day. That's why I—"Before he could finish speaking, Talia interrupted, "Okay, I get it."Her nonchalance tugged at Christian's heart. Unable to hold back, he suggested, "Why don't you stay in Yvo

With Willow around, Talia wouldn't overthink, so her mood lightened considerably. As they chatted, Talia asked about Felix. Willow told her that Felix had been trying to contact her lately, but she had been ignoring him.Willow had forced herself to sever an eight-year relationship. The love was real, but the letdown was just as real.Felix had not only cheated on her and been abusive, but he had also reduced Willow to nothing more than a plaything.Talia felt happy for Willow for taking the initiative to end that relationship.Just then, a curious voice came from behind. "Mrs. Lane?"Talia turned to find Emma standing there. She smiled politely in greeting.Emma walked into the gazebo and stood beside Talia, looking confused. "Mrs. Lane, Mr. Lane just went to see you. Didn't you see him?"Talia frowned and shook her head. "No."Emma was about to say something, but Talia cut her off, asking, "By the way, how's Yvonne?""Ms. Yvonne has been transferred to a regular ward. She's
