“Excuse me,” Lydia said, gathering the documents before she and Victoria walked out of the room.

Once the door closed behind them, Arianna turned toward Blair with a smile.

“So, you’re officially my daughter. We need to celebrate.”

Blair managed a small smile, but the happiness she tried to show didn’t quite reach her eyes. Leaving Nightveil Pack was not something she could celebrate. She had spent her entire life here as Blair Valen.

She had grown up within those borders, built her life here, and believed it was where she would remain forever. But that life was gone now, and no matter how painful it was to accept, leaving was probably for the best.

“Can you please get me out of this hospital first?” Blair asked.

Arianna nodded. “Of course. There’s a car waiting outside the hospital that will take us to Silvercrest Pack. We’ll leave for Silvercrest tonight.”

Blair stared at her for a moment, then glanced toward the window. The thought of leaving without anyone knowing made something inside her tighten.

“Won’t my family and ex-husband notice that I’ve left the pack? Or realize that I’m still in this hospital in Nightveil Pack?” she asked.

Arianna’s expression remained calm.

“No. Every trace of you has been covered. They’ll all believe you’re dead. I made sure of it.”

Blair nodded slowly. She wasn’t interested in knowing exactly what Arianna had done to make everyone believe she was dead. Right now, all she wanted was to leave Nightveil for good.

But the moment her thoughts returned to everything that had happened, the anger she had been trying to keep buried began rising again. Adrian had destroyed the life she had built with him. Sienna had betrayed her. Her parents had abandoned her when she needed them most. And then a stranger had taken advantage of her when she was helpless.

Her fingers tightened against the bedsheet.

“I wish I could get my revenge on them now and make them pay for everything they’ve caused me,” Blair whispered, as she clenched her fist by her side.

Arianna moved closer and gently placed a hand over hers. Blair looked down at their hands before slowly lifting her eyes to Arianna’s face.

“You’re too weak to strike at the Blackwoods right now,” Arianna told her. “I’m sure they know your weaknesses, and they’ll use them against you. If you want to strike your enemies and win, you have to be prepared. You have to catch them when they least expect it.”

Arianna’s fingers tightened gently around Blair’s hand.

“You need to come to Silvercrest with me. You need time to recover, regain yourself, and become strong enough to fight back.”

Blair stared at her for a moment before giving a slow nod.

Right now, revenge was the only thing keeping her moving forward. She didn’t care how long it took or what she had to do to get it. She simply wanted the people who had hurt her to pay for what they had done.

“Arianna, I need one more thing from you.”

Arianna raised her eyebrows, waiting.

“I need to find the man who raped me. I need to make him pay for what he’s done.”

Arianna’s expression changed slightly. She swallowed before giving Blair a reassuring nod.

“Of course. Anything that makes my daughter happy.”

A faint smile touched Blair’s lips.

For the first time in a long time, she knew what it felt like to have someone call her their daughter and actually mean it.

Her thoughts drifted to her mother, Camille. Camille had never treated her the way she treated Sienna. Sienna had always been the pampered child, the beautiful daughter who could do no wrong, while Blair had often felt as though she were nothing more than an embarrassment to her own family. Her father had watched it happen without ever saying enough to stop it.

Sometimes, Blair had even wondered whether they were truly her parents.

Perhaps it was because she had never looked like the daughter her mother wanted. Blair had never had Sienna’s slim figure or the kind of body men openly admired. Even when Blair married Adrian, Camille had not been pleased. She had wanted Sienna to become Adrian’s Luna and had made it clear that, in her eyes, someone like Blair did not deserve such a position.

And now Sienna was the Luna of Nightveil Pack.

Camille must have been pleased.

The thought sent another wave of pain through Blair’s chest, and her gaze dropped to the sheets.

Yet, somehow, this woman sitting beside her had made her feel something she had almost forgotten existed. Arianna had saved her life, taken her in, given her a new identity, and treated her as though she were truly her daughter.

Blair slowly lifted her eyes toward her.

She only hoped Arianna would never turn against her the way Adrian and her family had.

“Are you okay?” Arianna asked.

Blair nodded. “I’m fine.”

A quiet silence settled between them.

A few moments later, the door opened, and a man walked into the room. He was tall and heavily built, with a masculine face and an intimidating presence that immediately caught Blair’s attention. There was something about his eyes that made her instinctively cautious.

“Oh, Matthew, you’re here,” Arianna remarked as she turned toward him.

Matthew gave Arianna a brief nod before his gaze shifted toward Blair.

“Blair, this is Matthew Castillo, my right-hand bodyguard. He’s also a warrior of Silvercrest Pack.”

Blair offered him a polite smile.

Matthew returned it briefly before turning his attention back to Arianna.

“We need to return to Silvercrest. There’s an emergency,” he said quietly.

Blair’s ears caught the words immediately.
