Elara Moonstone

My eyes were red and bloodshot when I woke up, it was very unusual as I barely reacted to anything. Even though I was now more stressed than I had ever been in my life. I sat up, my hands tugging at my lush brown hair. The pain of all I had been going through stung my heart again and I felt a renewed sense of betrayal and rage.

"Your majesty, do not look that way." Maera's voice jolted me from my self-loathing episode.

"Good morning Maera. When did you get in?" I asked her as I rubbed my eyes.

"Oh dear! Why are your eyes so red?" She asked me, her voice filled with a kind of concern that made me jump to the front of my mirror.

My eyes were blood red and had all of my veins popping out. I didn't want to risk anything going wrong with my health now as I had more than enough on my plate to deal with.

"Don't worry. It must be the stress and all the tears you have had to shed these recent times. Take today to rest, take a walk around the park to de-stress. You need t

Elara Moonstone Maera didn't stop crying, not even after six days that we had found out that George wasn't as loyal as we all thought. It was even worse how far he went to make me hate her, but then, she had just been betrayed by the one man that she thought would protect her. I knew exactly how she felt, and that devastated me the most. She wasn't someone I knew how to comfort as she comforted me, but I always knew that I could give it a try. The gentle breeze hit my face as I bathed in the glory of the morning air. Luca had slept in my arms last night; it was this weird arrangement between us that was never debated. He had simply slept in my arms that night and then continued to sleep in my arms every night. I had thought the first time was just a silly mistake, considering what we both had just gone through and how heartbroken he was about George's two-sided loyalty. “Is someone thinking about me and how hard my body is in her arms?” I heard Luca's voice and startled a bit. He g

  • When The Moon Remembers   48: The Roots of the Rotten Tree

Elara MoonstoneTrauma drummed the sounds of war in my ears long after the women had finished. My hair dripped with water, screams, and spit from me. Maera has been my enemy all along, and I had held her closer than even my skin. Our plans were working well, but even then the things I was finding out had begun to drain the strength out of me. I heard voices and was shocked when George himself entered the room, his eyes fixed on me like a predator's final moment before pouncing on its unsuspecting prey. He kissed Maera deeply, not breaking eye contact before he walked up to me and slapped me across the face.“How dare you raise your eyes to look at me? The king does not know where you are, and he thinks you have gone back to your loser lover” George said and sat down before me, my ears still ringing from the slap he had delivered.“George? Why?” I asked, blood dropping from my nose and pooling on my dress. “Because I deserve the throne. You think this is easy? It's not, but I have to

  • When The Moon Remembers   47: Blinded by the Anger

Elara Moonstone"Wakey wakey, fool!" I heard Caroline's voice as my head lolled on my neck. My eyes were unclear as all I remembered was trying to run and then getting attacked from behind. I had only managed to struggle a bit before a heavy blow was delivered to the back of my skull. The thudding pain came back in full force, and then I was forced to open my eyes to see if what I had heard was correct. Nothing prepared me for what my eyes saw: Maera was standing in front of me with Caroline, both of them with a smile on their face. "Maera?" I asked, refusing to believe what I was seeing. "Yes, it's me. It's been me all along. I even killed my baby so that all of these will make more sense." She said, a totally different person speaking to me. "How is this possible?" I demanded, my hands shaking slightly in the rope that had been used to bind my feet so that I would not run away. "Well, let's just say it started several years ago, when your self-acclaimed saint of a father starte

  • When The Moon Remembers   46: Ending Doubts

King LucaThe nerve of her to think that she would go back to that place. I couldn't even understand why she wanted to go back because of a mere book, but my mind was already made up. I knew she still had feelings for Rowan, and that thought alone made my blood boil. If she were so desperate to be treated badly by a man, then she would not be permitted by me. “Your face doesn't look good. You look like you could kill someone just by staring at them” George commented, even though I didn't even hear him enter my study. “I am fine. Is Antonio behind all that has been happening or not? This is beginning to take too long, and I don't think it should be so hard for you that you will need my intervention to get it done.” I challenged George, my pride still hurt by the fact that my mate was still in love with the man who nearly killed her. “Antonio is not behind it. He had an alibi every time that something went wrong. He is not our guy. I suggest we begin to look at your business associat

  • When The Moon Remembers   45: A Whole New World

Elara MoonstoneThe gentle breeze blew gently on my face, taking me away from the chaos that I had grown accustomed to. This place was not like anywhere that I had ever been before; everywhere seemed alive. Like each detail it carried had its stories to tell. The same silver-haired woman that I always see appeared; her face held no emotions as she looked straight ahead. I tried to follow her, but no matter how fast I ran, the pace between us remained the same. Suddenly, I took a big leap and found myself back at Moonfang Pack. “What am I doing here? I shouldn't be here?” I asked myself as the woman disappeared into what had been my father's private study.“Come, for here you will finally see the truth about who you truly are,” a voice responded, even though there was no one near enough to whisper in my ear. The whole place was empty, desolate even. Like the soul of the palace had withered and only the mere carcass remained in its stead. My attention was caught by the blood-red note

  • When The Moon Remembers   44: Anchored by the King

Elara Moonstone“I have found what you want, my king” George reported to Luca as we settled in his office. “Is he behind it?” He asked George, and he nodded his head. “Yes, my king. He is behind it; he was hoping to distract you so that he could take over the palace” George reported while I sat there wondering who the person they were referring to was. “Bring him to me” Luca ordered before he turned his attention to me. “There's someone I would like you to meet” he said as he settled in his seat, just as the day opened again and George walked in. The man behind him had an aura around I knew that he was a kin to Luca immediately he entered. Even though Luca was better looking than him, they had the same giant strides whenever they walked. “Antonio” Luca muttered as I stood up, wanting to know what was going on. “Brother, my king” he said, spreading his arms to hug him. Luca didn't accept his hug; George stepped in between the two men, and I had a feeling their relationship wasn'
