You'll always find me

"Remember you by?!, Are you going somewhere?!"

He looked down at her contemplating whether to tell her about it or not. He had overheard someone in management say she'd probably be adopted soon , obviously she was still a small girl so she had higher chances of getting adopted unlike him. He was old and most people didn't want to adopt older children.

He was surprised whoever wanted to adopt her decided to pick her irrespective of her burns and all , most people like to pick perfectly cute children and he could only conclude that this new family she was about to become part of would love her sincerely. 

"Hey " she whispered as she waved her hands in front of his face , but that wasn't able to draw him out of his deep thought.

"Logan " she repeated as she tapped his thigh again .

"Yes yes " he replied as he closed his eyes tightly, silently admonishing himself for zoning out on her.

"Are you leaving already?!" She asked again, he decided in his heart that it wasn't in his place to tell her anything, so he was just going to keep mute about it and let her find out about the development on her own.

"No I'm not , can't I just gift you?!"

"We'll get adopted at one point or the other, so just hold this Incase , we might get it separated without notice " he replied and she nodded.

"Thank you " she whispered and he nodded with a smile.

"I really hope to see you in future " he whispered and she smiled.

"I'm sure you'll always find me " she said and he looked at her with a widened smile , he couldn't believe she would make a statement like that , and that statement just made him believe that they would always find each other.

They sat there on the floor still staring at the sky , immediately the sky lightening up and a deep rumbling thunder followed.

"Oh, that's why there're no stars today " she whispered and he nodded with a smile .

"You're a very smart kid Mia " he said and immediately the rain began to drizzle , the two children stood up immediately, dusted their shorts and made their way back downstairs and into the house immediately.

Just as they got into their rooms , the rain began to pour down heavily.

It rained like it was the first rain of the year and had been waiting for so long to just pour down its rage.

It actually deserved to be angry , because humans are the worst!.

The two children quietly walked into their room as they sat in their respective rooms by the window.

Their rooms were close to each other so they could actually hear themselves speak through the window but the both of them just decided to keep quiet.

Logan could only think about this night being the last night he'd see Mia and he wasn't quite ready for that separation.

He just prayed and hoped Mia will be well loved and cared for in her new family.

She deserved the absolute best after all she had been through.

He was actually very happy for her , she was still very young and staying here longer than this could affect her psychologically and change her disposition forever .

Even if he knew he wasn't ever going to find another friend like Mia here if she leaves , he still just wanted her to be happy.

And getting adopted was just the thing she needed to be happy , at least it would put her out of the misery and torment she faces in the system.

He knew praying for an adoption at this stage of his life might be a dead end but he was still optimistic that he'd find a family he could belong to soon.

Mia on the other side of the window stared out as the rain poured, nights like this she missed her parents especially her mom so much.

Whenever it rained at night her Mom would always come into her room with a cup of tea and chat with her until she fell asleep.

She slowly turned to look at the door as she imagined her Mom would just walk right through the door with a tray in her hands as usual, except that her Mom was already dead.

She slowly turned back to face outside , she looked down at the bracelet Logan had given her earlier, he had mentioned that they might get separated, was he really serious about what he said?!.

She knew how bad it would be for her in this place without Logan, she wasn't so immature to the extent that she didn't know her life was going topsy turvy if ever Logan leaves.

She closed her eyes as she quickly muttered a word of prayer , if ever Logan gets adopted she should be adopted alongside him also.

She had never imagined being adopted , she had only been in the system for three months and she never for once had thought about life outside of it again.

She slowly stretched out her hands outside to feel the rain water on her skin.

"Mia?!" She heard Logan's voice and she withdrew her hands immediately.

"You're still awake" he said in a whisper and she muttered a yes.

"Can't sleep?!" He asked.

"I don't feel like sleeping," she replied and he nodded.

"You should sleep early Mia , I can tell tomorrow is going to be a very busy day" he said to her.

"Okay " she whispered as she hopped off the window .

"Goodnight Mia"

"Goodnight Logan , see you tomorrow" she whispered and walked back to her bed.

She muttered a little prayer before she got into the bed, raised the duvet over her body , closed her eyes and waited for sleep to take over .

If only she knew she wasn't going to see him tomorrow.

And Tomorrow was the beginning of a new life for her!.
