Chapter 2

That night, I had a very long dream.

In the dream, it was the first time I saw Alpha Lucian.

I was eighteen years old that year and went with my father to attend Lucian's dinner party at Moonlight Festival.

He stood by the piano in a nice suit and held the wine.

He's just breathtakingly handsome. Seriously, the way he looks? It's like a masterpiece, you know? A masterpiece that just walks and talks. Absolutely divine.

I fell in love with him at first sight.

Later, I dared to kiss him secretly, and he froze for a moment and then chuckled softly, "Little she-wolf, kissing is not done like that."

He gently cupped my face, and at that moment, he breathed the definition of a true kiss into my lips—soft yet searing, a silent vow that unfurled like a flame in my deep heart.

That kiss was so long that I couldn't breathe, and when I remembered it now, it felt like an illusory dream.

When I woke up, I still felt tears rain down my cheeks.

It was dawn, and after a long pause, I mindlinked to my father.

"Dad, I severed the mate bond," I said hoarsely, "After I get the severance decree, I'll go back and keep you accompany."

"Did Lucian hurt you? "Dad's voice immediately rose.

"No," I looked at the gradually brightening sky, "I'm just... too tired."

Saying the words was like swallowing the strongest wolfsbane.

After finishing the mind-link, someone started a video call with me.

I unconsciously accepted it.

I could see that Lucian was sleeping, murmuring the name Elise...

Following the video call, a she-wolf was showing off to me,

"I am Elise, Lucian's first love. I never expected that he would still keep me in his mind after he mated for so many years.

When I get back to him, I found that he still had my nickname tattooed on the inside of his wrist. All of the stuff related to us are well preserved.

See, he's still calling my name in his dreams and he was probably thinking about our past. After all, it was his unforgettable first love time."

My heart was numb from the pain after hearing this, and my wolf can let out a sorrowful howl.

I asked, "What do you want from me?"

It took a long time for the she-wolf to reply,

"I just want to get back what belongs to me. Believe it or not, he might stay with me for the following five days and won't mindlink you once if I want."

She ended the video call before I could say a word.

Ten minutes later, Lucian mindlinked to me,

"My Luna, I have pack matters to deal with and it takes five days. Our Beta will be there for you, so feel free to call him if you need help. Take good care of yourself and our pup."

I froze for a moment and suddenly smiled, and then tears fell down my face.

For the next five days, there was no one mindlinks from him.

The damned thing was that Elise called me from time to time.

Lucian took her for walks along the beach, brought her to mountain tops to see sunsets, and went for a ride in the countryside, you know, the whole romantic shebang.

Suddenly I remembered that Lucian had also taken me to do the same things.

I thought he was romantic, but at the moment I understood that he was just to miss another she-wolf.

I began to pack my things on the evening of the fifth day.

All these luxurious jewelry, handbags, and clothes that Lucian gave me were packed and thrown into the storeroom.

When Lucian rushed to our den, all he saw was the empty room.

He was clearly stunned for a moment and said, "My Luna, what are you doing?"

I didn't look up but replied, "I just threw away something useless."

Lucian didn't think much, just smiled and handed me the gift in his hand, which was a limited edition set of pulp books.

I casually mentioned wanting it last month, and didn't expect him to keep it in mind.

"My Luna," he naturally hugged me and placed his hand on my lower abdomen, "have you ever felt uncomfortable lately? It's time for a pregnancy test tomorrow, and I'll be with you."

"No, thanks," I broke free from his embrace, "I don't need it anymore."

Lucian finally realized something was wrong, "what do you mean? Have you been feeling uncomfortable lately?"

The omega housekeeper beside interjected, "Luna Alice has a bad appetite these days and hardly eats anything."

Lucian immediately loosened his tie and said, "Let me cook your favorite food, be good and eat a little bit."

As he turned around, he reminded the housekeeper, "Take good care of my Luna Alice and never let her bump into something."

The housekeeper and the servants whispered enviously, "Alpha Lucian is so nice to Luna Alice..."

"How I wish I had a mate like Alpha Lucian in my life."

I listened quietly, a hint of self-mockery flashing in my eyes and I once thought I had found the best mate in the world, but now I understand that it was just a carefully crafted lie.
