POV: Amelia

“You want me to go,” I said slowly, adjusting the clasp of the necklace they’d just draped across my collarbone.

“Without Ethan, yes,” Jess replied, tapping on her phone. Jess, Ethan's publicist, had been flown in by Ethan to help me. I had no idea how he'd known I was invited to this gala.

Jess looked up from her phone for a minute, her Auburn hair falling just at her shoulders. “I think it’s cleaner. You’re a force on your own. And you showing up, smiling, stunning, and unbothered? That’s the message.”

I looked at my reflection. My dress—a steel-blue column with a deep V and a high back—fit like it had been poured on. I looked expensive. Polished. Barely breakable.

“You’re not my publicist,” I said.

Jess glanced up, gave me a crooked smile. “No, but Ethan’s is on his third espresso and hiding under a desk somewhere in Soho. So for tonight? I’m what you’ve got.”

I rolled my eyes, but deep down I knew she was right. The kiss had already done its laps across the internet. E

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 107: A horny wife

Amelia's pov I turned the vibrator over in my palm, pressing the little silver button. It hummed quietly, like it was embarrassed for me.I dropped the wine glass to the floor beside the bed, not caring if it tipped or spilled. The cool clink of glass against tile felt distant, barely touching the chaos storming inside me. My thighs pressed tightly together, pulsing with need I hadn’t dared acknowledge in weeks. Months, even. The vibrator was still in my hand. Sleek, metallic, sinful.I pressed the button, and the soft hum filled the quiet room like a secret. My body jolted in response. God, how long had it been since I'd allowed myself to want like this? To need? Not for comfort, not out of grief or frustration—but purely for pleasure. For that hot, selfish, delicious pleasure that belonged only to me.I lay back against the pillows, the vibrator still buzzing in my fingers. My free hand slid down my stomach, past the waistband of the silk shorts I hadn’t even bothered to remove. Ju

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 106: The Thing About Consequences

POV: Amelia“Dr. Marks?” I pressed the phone tighter to my ear, bracing for bad news.“I hope I’m not catching you at a bad time,” he said in that gravelly voice that always sounded like it had been soaked in early morning espresso.“No, no, I just... I wasn’t expecting to hear from you.”He cleared his throat. “Well, I’ll get right to it. I need an assistant and when I got your email, I knew I had to call you.”I blinked, the phone warm against my cheek. “Wait. You’re offering it to me?”“Yes. I understand your current situation’s been... complicated,” he said carefully, like a surgeon talking around a tumor. “But you were always the best fit for the role. That hasn’t changed.”“I thought the board might feel differently. Given... everything.”There was a brief pause. “They had concerns. We all did. But we also remembered how you handled the Dunning case last fall, and the military vet from Houston, and now Ethan Steele. The man's walking now, albeit with crutches. That matters more

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 105: Collateral

POV: EthanThe worst night of my life started quietly, as these things always do.A hush. A pause in conversation. The faint swell of murmurs moving like ripples through still water. I didn’t register the shift until I noticed Jess stiffen beside me. Her hand moved to my forearm, not to comfort but to brace. Then came the screen.I didn’t know what I was seeing at first. The light changed, and with it, the room. People turned. Some adjusted their glasses. Others leaned forward slightly, instinctively, the way you do when you sense something’s about to shift and you're powerless to stop it.And then—her.Sienna. Standing on a balcony overlooking the Marina, the wind brushing her hair off her shoulders. My body reacted before my mind caught up. I knew that image. Not the angle. Not the footage. But the moment. And then I saw myself.I wasn’t even looking at the camera. I was looking at her. At her face, red from crying, her hand on my chest. She was saying something. I couldn’t remember

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 103: Where the hell are you, Sienna?

POV: Sienna “Where the hell are you?”I didn’t bother answering right away. I pressed the phone tighter to my ear and turned my head toward the sliding glass doors. The Dubai skyline was gleaming in the distance, indifferent and dazzling, like it had never known heartbreak. I kicked my heels off and padded barefoot toward the suite’s terrace, dragging the silk robe tighter around me.“I said—Sienna, where are you?” Marco repeated, sharper this time.“Somewhere sunny,” I said, stepping out into the dry heat. “Somewhere I don’t have to look at your face.”“Don’t get clever with me. My assistant saw the manifest. You weren’t on the flight to New York. You were supposed to land this morning.”I let the silence stretch while I watched a yacht slice through the water like a silver blade. It was all too perfect—the sky, the harbor, the illusion of freedom. I closed my eyes for a moment and tilted my head to the sun.“Sienna.”“I’m in Dubai,” I said finally, keeping my voice light. “I needed

  • While Marrying Mr. Steele   Chapter 102: “Don’t You Dare Apologize”

POV: AmeliaI sat there with a towel clutched against my ribs, the cool edge of the massage table digging into my thighs. The sting in my ankle pulsed in time with the silence. A nurse hovered nearby, pretending not to listen, but her nervous glances made it obvious she didn’t know what to do with a half-dressed woman crying quietly while her billionaire husband was banging on the spa door like a madman.“Amelia—open the door,” Ethan called again, voice rough, too full. “Please. I’m not going anywhere.”“Get him out,” I whispered to the nurse, throat raw from holding everything in. “Now.”She gave a quick nod and stepped out, murmuring something about privacy. The moment she opened the door, I heard his footsteps charging in. I yanked the towel tighter across my chest like it could protect me from him, from everything.“Stop,” I said, holding up a shaky hand.He froze mid-step. His hair was messy. His shirt untucked. I hated that I noticed. I hated more that I wanted to fall into him
