Chapter 515

Author: Flower Sock
"You think it's pretty, too?" Shirley suddenly raised her voice a little, sounding as if she'd found a kindred spirit. "Me too! Looks like we really have similar tastes!"

That exclamation drew quite a few people's attention.

Not wanting to be in the spotlight, Hannah stepped past Shirley and quickly walked away.

But just then, a maid came toward her from the other direction. By accident, one of the cakes on the tray got smeared onto Hannah's dress.

"Oh, no! I'm so sorry! I-I didn't mean to!" The maid apologized quickly, looking panicked.

"It's fine, just be more careful next time," Hannah said, not wanting to make things hard for a worker.

"Your dress got stained. Let me take you to the restroom to get it cleaned up," the maid suggested cautiously.

Hannah glanced at the cream-stained hem and could only nod, following the maid to the restroom.

Thankfully, it wasn't much cream, and it came off quickly.

After drying it off, Hannah returned to the party venue. She glanced around b

In the end, Louie still managed to convince Gregory to attend the party with him. However, throughout the ride, Gregory seemed distracted and absent-minded."What's going on? Why the long face?" Louie asked curiously. "Are you that unhappy to be with me?"Gregory tugged at the corner of his lips. "Glad you noticed.""Stay grumpy, then," Louie muttered, annoyed. "You had the nerve to drink alcohol behind my back. Clearly, you don't take any of my warnings seriously. Someone in my past life must've cursed me so badly that I end up having someone like you who doesn't follow medical advice."Gregory didn't respond.Soon, they arrived at the Lancaster residence. As soon as they got out, they saw Theo arriving at the party as well. The moment Gregory and Theo's eyes met, both of them paused mid-step.Gregory's expression remained composed, but Theo looked uneasy. He felt that the incident last time had created a subtle rift between them.Still, he had no regrets. Hannah really didn't want to step into the Lancaster residence, but Anathea kept nagging in her ear, insisting that she had to come.Hannah let out a breath and looked around several times, but couldn't spot Anathea anywhere, which made her want to leave.Besides, she might even run into Dominic. At that thought, the urge to bail grew even stronger. Turning around, she was ready to sneak away and pretend she got stuck in traffic. But Anathea called her right then, as if she had a tracker on Hannah."Trying to sneak off, Hannah?" Anathea teased."I just feel it's not appropriate for me to be here," Hannah said a bit awkwardly. "Sure, Ms. Lancaster came back, but it's not as if we know her. Even though she sent an invitation, I don't even recognize her. I might as well just go.""Please, you're just afraid of running into Dominic, aren't you?"Hannah froze for a second because Anathea hit the nail on the head."Don't worry. Dominic went on a business trip yesterday. He might not

Theo clenched his fists. "But—""Have you forgotten? Just last week, your father decided to hand Harrington Group over to your younger brother, who's still in middle school. I have no idea what he's thinking!" Eleanor snapped."The Harringtons used to be one of the most respected families in Castanea. Do you remember how proud we once were? And now, not only has our family fallen on hard times, but we're about to be completely destroyed by your useless father. If that happens, I won't even have the pride to hold my head up."She gripped Theo's shoulder and said firmly, "Theo, you're the Harringtons' only hope. If even you give up, then our family really is finished. How can you throw away such a bright future for a woman who already belongs to someone else?"Theo pressed his lips together, and a trace of hesitation appeared in his eyes. Though it lasted just a moment, Eleanor noticed the flicker of doubt."You know me, Theo. I don't ask for much. I just want to see you succeed. I

Eleanor's expression turned cold in an instant. She could already anticipate what Theo was about to say."Aunt Eleanor, you know very well that I like Anathea," Theo said with a strained voice. "It took all my effort to persuade her to leave with me. I promised to protect her, and she has only just begun to trust me again. Yet, you went behind my back and instructed Rory to send people to harm her."His eyes reddened with emotion."Anathea has done absolutely nothing wrong. She has no quarrel with you. Why are you so determined to make her life miserable?"Eleanor was momentarily stunned. A cold and obscure emotion flickered in her eyes. How could he possibly claim that Anathea had done nothing wrong? She couldn't help but remember that day at St. Sophia's Cathedral. She had finally managed to arrange a visit under the pretense of attending service with Gregory, just to see the son she had longed to meet. She reached out to hold him, only to feel a piercing gaze from above. Anathea paused briefly.Indeed, this time it was a feigned illness, but who could say what excuse he would fabricate next? She let out a breath. "I'm going to wash up first," she said.Hearing that, a faint smile tugged at the corner of Gregory's lips.By the time Anathea stepped out of the bathroom, Gregory had also finished showering in the guest bathroom next door. He looked up at her briefly, then shifted to the side considerately to make space. "Come," he said, patting the spot beside him on the bed, like a prince beckoning his chosen queen.Anathea pursed her lips, then lifted the covers and lay down beside him.The moment she did, Gregory immediately leaned over, reaching out to pull her into his arms. But before he could touch her, Anathea said coldly, "Keep your distance."Gregory silently withdrew his hand."Get some rest," Anathea said. After a long and tiring day, she too was exhausted. She turned off the bedside lamp.Back when she was in Grendova, whether it
