Chapter 7 The closest person is gone

Knowing that one’s life is almost coming to an end is far more terrible than an unexpected death. Two years, which is more than seven hundred days and nights of waiting and if the case cannot be reversed then I am done.

The violence received in prison is far more better than the “cold violence” shown to me in this house. From the first day I came, no one had spoken to me. Apparently, I have been ignored all the time as if I do not exist. Lester Ye mostly came back at night bringing along different women with him each time.

A wry smile is obviously seen on my face as he always know how to hurt me the most.

I really have had a hard time when I was conceiving. The morning sickness was so severe that I throw up more than I could take in food. I lost weight during those times until the situation eased up after more than three months.

My mother would call every noon asking me about my situation or report for any progress of my case but today I had an unusual feeling of restlessness. I waited for my mother’s call until in the afternoon when the phone rang.

I picked up the call and upon hearing the news from the other end, I almost fainted. The call was from a doctor at the city hospital informing me that my mother had a car accident and is now being attended to.

The phone dropped to the ground and hurriedly ran out of the villa bracing myself just in time to see Lester Ye driving back.

Running towards him incoherently, weeping and begging, \"Please take me to the hospital, take me to the hospital. My mother just had an accident.\"

  \"Get in!\"

Lester Ye\'s speed was very fast almost running and beating a red light. I am extremely grateful to him that at least, without hesitation, he did not refuse my request.

  \"Thank you!\" I thanked him sincerely.

We reached the hospital and he rushed out of the car to talk to a nurse. I was just right behind him then looked back at me with a complicated expression and asked, \"Are you RH negative blood?\"

  I nodded, \"What\'s the matter?\"

Just as I replied to him, a doctor came up in front of me and asked, \"Are you Ms. Susan Gu\'s daughter?\"

\"The patient lost too much blood and now needs a blood transfusion, but there is no RH negative blood in the hospital...\"

\"Doctor, I am RH negative, please take my blood!\" I stretched out my hand to the doctor without reluctance.

Without having second thoughts… no matter what happens my mother’s life must be saved. She is more important than anyone else…she’s the only one I got on my side…I am not losing her.

\"Okay, so let’s check on your body first.\"

\"There is no need to check on me… I am in good health. What is important now is to save the person who have always cared for me.\" I flatly rejected the doctor\'s proposal. I knew that if they learned of my pregnancy, the blood transfusion might not be allowed.

When I walked into the operating room I turned at Lester Ye and said, \"I\'m afraid your wish will be granted this time.\"

After that, he entered the room where the blood was drawn right before his complicated gaze.

As I was lying on the hospital bed, feeling the blood flowing out of my body gradually I felt nauseated and unwell but I could only clenched my mouth by keeping it to myself.

I could not help myself worrying that after this blood transfusion the child inside of me may not be able to survive.

I can still feel a slight bulge when I touched my lower abdomen. All I could do is pray and hope that my baby can stay strong.

When my consciousness gradually became blurred the doctor finally stopped drawing blood.

I was lying on the hospital bed with a feeling that my whole body seemed to be drained with blood and becoming so weak.

\"Can I have something to eat?\" I begged noticing a figure beside me.

I sensed a straw touched my lips and was able to drink the glass of milk. I felt a slight of relief.

\"What about my mother? How is she?\"

  \"Sleep!\"

This voice seemed to have magical powers.

My body seemed to be very weak that I could hardly lift my eyelids open.

I couldn\'t sleep peacefully. In my dreams, I saw my mother\'s bloody figure dangling in front of my eyes. She opened her mouth to say something, but I couldn\'t hear it.

When I woke up, there were tears on my face.

The moment I saw Lester Ye, I grabbed his arm and asked, \"What about my mother? How is she?\"

  \"I am very sorry! \"

I looked at Lester Ye stiffly and with a difficult tone, \"What do you mean?\"

\" There was an excessive blood loss and serious injuries that no one may be able to survive.\" His thin lips lightly opened while saying those words.
