Jeff’s POV

Ashley didn’t deny it! She didn’t deny any of it. She simply stood there and listened to me drunkenly lay those accusations against her, while staring at me with a stubborn and pained expression in her eyes.

There was no single bit of remorse or apology in those expressive eyes of hers. Instead, she looked defiant, as though what she did wasn't bad, and this annoyed the hell out of me.

As much as I didn’t want to admit it, what I had been looking for was for her to push back, perhaps

  • Winning My Angry Ex Back   An unexpected visitor

Ashley’s POVI was all alone at home when the sound of a knock came on my door. Since we never received any visitors, I assumed it was Aurora and Janet who had just gotten back from the park. But it wasn’t them. Jeff, who was actually the last person I expected to see, stood there with a sheepish look on his face. He hadn’t come to work for two days now.I knew this because my new position required that I see him nearly every day, or at least, send something to his office every day, but for the past two days, he hadn’t been around and had left instructions that I was in charge. The way things suddenly changed at Wilson Global Fashions still felt so surreal to me. Suddenly, I was no longer the office pariah, but one of the highest-placed people there, and I now commanded respect. It was almost as if Claire’s presence in the office had cast a dark shadow on the atmosphere and on everyone who worked there. Now, the air felt fresher, and the atmosphere more joyful. I knew for a fact that

  • Winning My Angry Ex Back   Forgiveness

Tom’s POVMy dad's eyes widened. "Oh, my goodness! I had no idea about this. Eliza didn't tell me this part. Jack must have gone to threaten my employees, or something. I can't wrap my head around how much power that man had. But no, that doesn't make sense. You know, I just thought of something. What if the whole thing happened because he wanted to open a fashion company as well? Perhaps he found out about me while doing his research and knew that I would be a rival. So when luck shone on him, and I hit his consignment of drugs, he went through my car and found out my identity.Once he realized that I was the one involved in the accident, he decided to cripple my business and kidnap me to use my knowledge to open his company. Never mind. That's such a stupid thought.""Hmmm ... actually, it's not, Dad. You may be on to something. It could also be that he had plans of opening the company and had been trailing you, or had people trailing you, until that night, when it was the perfect t

  • Winning My Angry Ex Back   Broken

Jeff’s POVA broken man, who had needlessly suffered all these years … that was who I saw as my father told me the story of what had happened to him all those years ago.I sat there in silence long after he stopped talking, feeling like the world's biggest and most cruel fool. My chest felt extremely heavy and tight as I processed everything that he had told me.I had added to this man’s suffering for nothing, wasted several years being angry at, resenting, and punishing him for something that wasn't even his fault.Still, he had never stopped trying to reach out to me, begging me to forgive him and to rekindle our relationship.I stared at the floor, trying to reconcile the man I had hated for years with the broken one who sat opposite me, with an anxious expression on his gaunt, sickly face, trying to read my face to see if I believed him or not.“Jeff? You believe me, don’t you? I’ve got a lot of evidence that shows that I’m telling the truth. I didn’t purposely decide to leave. It

  • Winning My Angry Ex Back   Unwelcome

Tom’s POVFinding out about Elaine’s death seriously dealt with me in ways that all the captivity and torture I endured in that dreadful forest at the hands of Jack and his cohorts never did.The grief and pain worsened as the days passed, and I holed up with my infant son in a small apartment that I rented with some money that Alex gave to me, which I promised I would send back as soon as I was settled.I tried to build up my courage to go home, meet my children, and show them that I was alive, but my courage failed me.Maybe it was because of the child I was bringing back home with me. No matter the sob story I told, the fact that I got a child out of the whole situation felt totally wrong.A few days after I got back, I somehow stumbled upon news of a series of gang-related executions that happened in the country in which I had been held captive.Alex was one of those who was killed. I knew immediately that he had been traced and killed because he helped me out. He was killed a day

  • Winning My Angry Ex Back   Civilisation

Tom’s POVThe rest of the drive passed by in a blur that was filled with stunned silence. No other headlights of cars carrying gun-wielding criminals who wanted to eliminate us chased after us for the rest of the drive.Lena was slumped against the car door on her side, against which I had propped her lifeless body. Her head was tilted at an angle that made it look like she would soon raise it to complain about something. She’d been shot a few times before, according to what she told me and the scars she showed me, but she always bounced back every time.I kept waiting for her to inhale sharply, maybe curse lightly, or perhaps make a sarcastic remark about how this wasn’t how she planned to die. Nothing of the sort happened, though. I couldn't bear to look at her.The coppery smell of her blood that permeated the car was already enough to make me nauseous, and if I looked at her and saw her mutilated head or lifeless eyes, I was either going to burst into tears, or throw up … maybe bo

  • Winning My Angry Ex Back   Long gone

Tom’s POVOnce we were close to the last building, before the open space that led to the fence, she flattened herself against the building, thus hiding in the building's shadow.I followed suit by copying her. She was the boss here, and if not for her, I would still be in that dingy cell. I trusted her judgment completely, but my heart was beating so fast and loud that I could swear that I could hear it.Lena unbuttoned her coat again and handed me the baby. It was then that I saw that she was wearing two coats, one of which was too big for her."Wear it around you and button up the baby in it to keep him warm." She whispered before expertly pulling out a gun from seemingly nowhere. My heart sank, but I did as she asked. Once we were sure that the coast was clear, she gestured to me, and we ran the somewhat long distance from the side of the building where we were hiding. It was then that I saw a big ladder leaning against the fence.“You’ll go first. Please be mindful of the baby.” S
