Edward’s pov

Mr. Kwan, our head of Hospitality Experience, spoke next. “We also need to address guest experience protocols. Are we following the Japanese model of anticipatory service or more western, laid-back hospitality?”

“Both,” I said. “Fusion. I want staff who anticipate needs but don’t hover—efficiency with charm. Train the staff to read body language. I don’t want robotic greetings. I want intelligent service.”

There were a few raised eyebrows, but no one dared argue.

“Also,” I added, leaning back, “implement the room feature I talked about—AI voice-controlled ambiance settings in all penthouse suites. Lighting, music, scent diffusers.”

“Won’t that push us over budget?” someone mumbled.

“I didn’t ask about the budget,” I said coldly. “I said I wanted it done.”

Bryan sighed beside me and scribbled notes.

The room was quiet for a beat. Then Leona raised an unsure hand.

“There’s one more thing… the press.”

I met her eyes. “Go on.”

She hesitated. “Some gossip columns have been sni

Edward’s povThe question caught me off guard. I looked at her and smiled softly. “No… I don’t have any children. Not right now.”That didn’t seem like a satisfactory answer for the little girl. Now she wanted to know more and why I wasn’t with child.“Well… why is that?” She asked.“Don’t bother about that little girl,” I smiled. “It’s a personal choice.”“To not have children?”After a moment I pressed gently as I tried to change the subject, “What about your parents? You only talk about your mum.”Selena nodded slowly. “Mummy said daddy’s dead. I never met him.” Her voice was small—careful.I felt something pang in my chest as I took in deep breaths.“What about your mom?” I tried to keep the tone light and casual.“Well, she’s fine. It’s just that I hear her cry at night when she thinks I’m sleeping and I don’t like it.”“Why is that?”“I think her boss is a terrible person. I don’t like him.”I smiled. “Sometimes bosses are very bad at their work. I’m sure if your mum worked with

Edward’s povWhen I was off from work, I didn’t go back to the mansion. No, I had the driver take me right back to the school. If I went home, there would be nothing for me to do and no one for me to talk to. Plus, what was the point anyway? The house was depressing, and it brought a lot of memories that I didn’t like—mostly bad ones. There were good ones, like the ones I had with Eloise, but then there were ones with Charlotte, and none of them were even remotely good.“Sir, Bryan is calling the car to know where you are,” the driver said as I sighed. This assistant job, Bryan was really taking it seriously. “What should I tell him?”“Tell him we’re busy,” I said, but just before he could pick up the phone, I told him not to do it.“Why sir?” He asked.“Just drive. I’ll answer him later.”The driver nodded and drove me to the school.***There was so much life there when we arrived. Children ran wild through the yard; their laughter and voices echoed in the sun-drenched air, a playg

Eloise’s povHe was too close. Too close that I could feel the heat from his body seeping into mine.I put my hands on his chest and gave him a hard shove so he would get away from me.He moved back but I could tell that it wasn’t my push that did that. He just gave me space so that I would not feel uncomfortable as I had been feeling.“I think we can settle this well if you give me a chance. We can talk this through.”I laughed. “You can’t be serious.”“Please, Eloise.”“There’s nothing to say,” I snapped. “You should get lost. You think we can just pick up after what you did to me?”He sighed and looked around as I pointed to him.“From this moment on that we work together, you stay the help away from me. We keep this professional and let no one in this office know of our past. Strictly professional.”“I understand,” he murmured. “I’ll respect that.”“Good,” I said flatly.I didn’t wait another second. I turned, opened the door, and walked out of that boardroom with my spine straigh

Eloise’s povThat morning, while I drove Selena to school, my mind buzzed around the call I had had yesterday with Bryan. What did he want me at the office for? As much as I was supposed to start working for them, I still had to think of my mental health at this point.I waved her off and drove away to the office.I soon got to the office and entered the building as my assistant Sandra welcomed me.“Mr Bryan needs you there with him,” she said as I nodded.“I’ll be there with him. Anything else?” I asked as she shook her head. “Nothing else,” she said. “How are you holding up?”“I’m okay,” was all I could say as she nodded. We entered the slick, glass-walled boardroom, my heels clicking against the polished floor. The AC was on cold, but not as cold as the stare I shot at the man sitting arrogantly at the head of the table—Edward.Bryan stood beside him holding a file like he always did when we had to meet, avoiding eye contact with me.“Miss Camille,” Bryan said formally, “please h

Edward’s povI watched from behind the glass as they rushed around, giving orders to revive my father. All I could do was try my best not to cry. I had thought of this day but to imagine my father dying still hurt me.I folded my arms and watched with my eyes stinging and the tears fighting to flow out.“Clear!” one of the doctors shouted as the defibrillator pads touched his chest and his body jerked. They tried it once and then twice but nothing. I closed my eyes as they tried it a third time before a shrill line broke through and then I heard a beep sound in a steady rhythm.I let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding back as the room was filled with excitement with doctors congratulating themselves.I opened the door to get in as the doctor nodded at me to signal that everything was okay.“Mr. Edward,” one of the doctors said. “We need to talk. Please, come with me.”I nodded and followed him as we walked to his office.“Sit,” he said as he rounded his desk but I shook my hea
