Eloise’s pov

Within an hour, I reached the hospital in Seattle and they were taking tests and asking for her medical history as I gave them everything they needed. I did not need to concern myself with the things that were financial as I had the money to take care of her. I wondered if I would even have the strength to go back home after all this. Why was my life so hard right now?

It felt like I was being punished for something I might have done in my past life. It felt tiring and I hated it.

After a couple of days of treatment, she started getting better as I thanked my lucky stars on what had happened.

One day, I went to the vending machine to get something to eat when a doctor came to meet me.

“Miss Eloise,” she said as I nodded.

“That’s me.”

“So she is ready to go home but we have to be careful. She isn’t fully healed. We’ve given her all she needs to heal up but like I said, we still need to monitor her health.”

I nodded and thanked her before I went to the room

Edward’s povWhen I was off from work, I didn’t go back to the mansion. No, I had the driver take me right back to the school. If I went home, there would be nothing for me to do and no one for me to talk to. Plus, what was the point anyway? The house was depressing, and it brought a lot of memories that I didn’t like—mostly bad ones. There were good ones, like the ones I had with Eloise, but then there were ones with Charlotte, and none of them were even remotely good.“Sir, Bryan is calling the car to know where you are,” the driver said as I sighed. This assistant job, Bryan was really taking it seriously. “What should I tell him?”“Tell him we’re busy,” I said, but just before he could pick up the phone, I told him not to do it.“Why sir?” He asked.“Just drive. I’ll answer him later.”The driver nodded and drove me to the school.***There was so much life there when we arrived. Children ran wild through the yard; their laughter and voices echoed in the sun-drenched air, a playg

Eloise’s povHe was too close. Too close that I could feel the heat from his body seeping into mine.I put my hands on his chest and gave him a hard shove so he would get away from me.He moved back but I could tell that it wasn’t my push that did that. He just gave me space so that I would not feel uncomfortable as I had been feeling.“I think we can settle this well if you give me a chance. We can talk this through.”I laughed. “You can’t be serious.”“Please, Eloise.”“There’s nothing to say,” I snapped. “You should get lost. You think we can just pick up after what you did to me?”He sighed and looked around as I pointed to him.“From this moment on that we work together, you stay the help away from me. We keep this professional and let no one in this office know of our past. Strictly professional.”“I understand,” he murmured. “I’ll respect that.”“Good,” I said flatly.I didn’t wait another second. I turned, opened the door, and walked out of that boardroom with my spine straigh

  • Winning My Ex Wife   Chapter 47

Eloise’s povThat morning, while I drove Selena to school, my mind buzzed around the call I had had yesterday with Bryan. What did he want me at the office for? As much as I was supposed to start working for them, I still had to think of my mental health at this point.I waved her off and drove away to the office.I soon got to the office and entered the building as my assistant Sandra welcomed me.“Mr Bryan needs you there with him,” she said as I nodded.“I’ll be there with him. Anything else?” I asked as she shook her head. “Nothing else,” she said. “How are you holding up?”“I’m okay,” was all I could say as she nodded. We entered the slick, glass-walled boardroom, my heels clicking against the polished floor. The AC was on cold, but not as cold as the stare I shot at the man sitting arrogantly at the head of the table—Edward.Bryan stood beside him holding a file like he always did when we had to meet, avoiding eye contact with me.“Miss Camille,” Bryan said formally, “please h

  • Winning My Ex Wife   Chapter 46

Edward’s povI watched from behind the glass as they rushed around, giving orders to revive my father. All I could do was try my best not to cry. I had thought of this day but to imagine my father dying still hurt me.I folded my arms and watched with my eyes stinging and the tears fighting to flow out.“Clear!” one of the doctors shouted as the defibrillator pads touched his chest and his body jerked. They tried it once and then twice but nothing. I closed my eyes as they tried it a third time before a shrill line broke through and then I heard a beep sound in a steady rhythm.I let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding back as the room was filled with excitement with doctors congratulating themselves.I opened the door to get in as the doctor nodded at me to signal that everything was okay.“Mr. Edward,” one of the doctors said. “We need to talk. Please, come with me.”I nodded and followed him as we walked to his office.“Sit,” he said as he rounded his desk but I shook my hea

Edward’s povI watched the accident before me almost happen as I wanted to jump in to save them. But then George held me back.“The security has it under control,” he said as I looked at the car before me. The driver recovered quickly and drove away as I heard my name from the car.“Who did you give your middle name to?” He laughed as I stared after the moving car.“A special someone,” I said with something fluttering in my chest.I looked at him and nodded. “Let’s go,” I said as he nodded and we walked away.I soon finished with the school and its meetings, which, to be honest, were boring me to death, and headed home. The moment I got out of the car, Bryan appeared like he had been waiting for me. He bowed, and my eyes immediately shot to the files in his hands.“Can we do this later?” I asked. “I can’t keep this up. I need rest.”“Certainly sir. I’ll push your schedule for later.”I nodded and walked with him as we entered the house. My butler got me a drink of water as I gulped

  • Winning My Ex Wife   Chapter 44

Edward’s povI stared at the little girl and chuckled a bit.“Timothy,” I smiled, reaching to shake her. Timothy was my middle name. There was no need to give this little girl my main name anyway. I barely used Timothy except for strangers I didn’t want to know about me. “Selena, huh. That’s a very nice name.”“Thank you,” she smiled as she looked at the biscuits and handed me one. “You look sad. Why don’t you… You eat my biscuits?”I smiled and shook my head. “No. It’s yours.”Hearing her talk like that in her cute little voice made me smile. She was really good with her words. Clear too.I spoke with her for a few minutes and got something out of her. From what I could tell, she was really smart and very clever.I had met with a few three to four-year-olds and she was the smartest one I had encountered. If not for how small she looked, one could mistake her for a seven or even eight-year-old. And a smart one at that. Now I was intrigued to know the parents of this child.“Where are
