Chapter 2

Author: Anonymous
Silvia, who was busy taking care of Henry, shot me a look. "What are you spacing out for? Can't you see that Henry is sick? Get him a drink!"

Just like I had done ninety-nine times before, I quietly poured Henry a glass of water… and he suddenly yelped.

He dropped the glass, leaving it smashing into pieces while splashing hot water all over, scalding my hand crimson.

"I'm so sorry, Carl!" he cried. "The glass was too hot and slipped from my grasp. It's all my fault…"

The glass even cut my ankles and drew blood, but Silvia deliberately ignored that.

She picked up the other glass and splashed it at my face. "You're so clumsy! Is there anything you can do right?! The way I see it, you were just trying to hurt Henry! Don't think I can't tell!"

I simply stayed silent and watched her—I had tested the temperature beforehand. It wasn't nearly that hot.

Still, Henry was deliberately harassing me because he knew Silvia would never take my side, which also emboldened him further.

Even so, my hand had started to heal, but the scalding left blisters.

I could resurrect, but that didn't stop the pain, which left me with sweat drenching my back.

I gritted my teeth as I bore with the pain and bowed my head in apology. "I'm sorry. I'll get you another glass…"

I know Silvia would never believe whatever I said and dismiss it as nonsense.

As for me, Claire would soon come back to me.

And with one last death, everything would be over.

Henry was grinning at me smugly but still lied through his teeth. "Carl just came back alive, so it's alright if he's not thinking straight. Don't get upset with him."

Silvia snorted reluctantly then. "You're the only one who's kind enough to tolerate him. Sorry you have to deal with this."

They then began to flirt, while I tactfully left to get a broom to clean up the mess.

Seeing that I intended to use tools, Silvia snapped right then, "Use your hands!"

I had no choice but to do so, letting the glass cut my palm while the room overflowed with the scent of blood.

Silvia was sitting in her bed, glaring at me coldly.

Still, when she smelled blood, she got up. "That's enough! You don't even know how to clean?! What a fool!"

I hung my head and didn't argue.

After all, I was a fool—why else would I constantly tolerate her abuse?

Henry twitched uncomfortably but forced a smile. "Also, when will my proposal be finalized?"

Silvia froze and turned to me. "Henry's company is taking part in an expo abroad, and we need the proposal tomorrow—you must finish it tonight, do you hear me?"

I didn't say a word as I groaned inwardly.

After resurrecting fifty times, I developed heart issues.

I couldn't work long hours, and staying up overnight was especially a no-no.

But Silvia didn't care—so what if I was sacrificed as long as it pleased Henry?

"Don't worry, it will be done before tomorrow morning."

Silvia was ready to argue and was clearly surprised that I agreed to it.

Still, she said, "Don't be late. I trust you—that's why I let you do it."

I knew she was making excuses for her own actions, but it was really fine by me.

If anything, I looked forward to getting a heart attack and dying, so that I could be free from her and see Claire again.

Silvia actually looked troubled at once. "I'm just…"

However, that was when Henry groaned, "Silvia… It hurts so much…"

And with that, I was neglected again, having to close the door for them so people wouldn't catch them getting frisky.

As I dragged my battered body to find a doctor, I thought it was simply incredible the way I obsessively devoted myself to Silvia.

I wouldn't lie—I could pity Silvia's existence since her birth, as everyone treated her like a tool to make money, and no one had ever taught her what love really was. However, when she finally found someone willing to love her unconditionally, she pushed him away.Who else was to be blamed for that? Even if she had never been loved, it was no excuse to hurt another person. And perhaps because I'd spent so many days with Claire since, my opinion on love couldn't be clearer."Abuse is not love." I hence told her, "It's no more than a burden. Or did you forget what you did to me in the beginning? You really think I'd come to love a woman who hurt me every chance she had? I won't blame you for not understanding love, but don't think you can abuse my kindness either."It was the first heart-to-heart talk I had with her since I returned, but she quickly leaped to the conclusion that she had made me fall for her again. "That means you're not giving up on me, right?! It's okay. Anythin

Silvia refused to leave me in the coming days, persistently following me and staring at me, clearly worried that I'd disappear again. And that left me utterly annoyed. "Can't you do something more stimulating? Is there a point in staring at me all the time?"She pouted. "But you said that if you could just stay with me, you'd be happy even if we're not doing anything. Have you forgotten?"I laughed despite myself. "It's called acting, and for the sake of charming you. How many times do I have to tell you? I'm married and have a daughter now. Nothing's happening between us."That sent Silvia into a frenzy. "Married?! How dare you have a child with that skank! You have no right! I'm the only one who deserves you! She has no right!"I grabbed the glass off the table right then and smashed it on the floor. "You have no right to insult her! She's an angel sent by the heavens to save me, and just remembering her face makes me smile!"However, seeing me being so obsessed over another wo

On that day, the voice of the System that I feared rang in my ears.[Apologies, Mission Taker, but the crazy broad named Silvia Graves found out about the truth behind your loyalty and has gone crazy. The entire System could collapse from her derangement.]I frowned right then. "How is that my problem? Claire and I are both alive and well. Don't bother us."I thought the System actually sounded exasperated just then. [Reviving both you and Claire has taken a huge toll on us. Even right now, her body is kept together with energy we are infusing her with. If we break, she will fade. Think about her.]That could happen?!And here I thought I had regained my freedom after the game, but there was follow-up to be done?!While I hated the idea of returning to Silvia especially after I'd enjoyed Claire's tenderness, I was also worried that she would disintegrate.Still, Claire, being attentive as she always had been, she quickly noticed how distracted I was. "Something on your mind, d

I smiled as I entered the room filled with murderous psychopaths, immediately picking up the stench inside.Still, I flashed a reassuring smile at Silvia. It was a smile she was used to seeing, but this time, she felt enfeebled as if she was really going to lose me.Still, with Henry tugging gingerly on her sleeve, she gave in. "He will go. Your research won't be affected."She repeatedly assured herself that this would be the last time—once this was over, she would be sweet to me forever, and I would be her proper boyfriend. After years spent with me, she couldn't live without me.Even if her feelings for me didn't weigh as much as what she felt for Henry, I was now a quintessential part of her life.-The murderous lunatics had not seen a living person for a while, and all of them were laughing as they lunged at me.I fought back at first just to put up a show, but I suddenly charged as I watched them raise their blood-soaked cleavers.Wonderful. I'd never seen Silvia looking that worried—one could be forgiven for thinking the world was ending from her reaction.Naturally, Henry would never hurt himself. The knife barely cut an inch into him, and it only made him bleed without inflicting any lasting damage. The doctor was soon here and quickly bandaged him, while Henry leaned feebly in Silvia's arms."I just wanted to comfort Carl," he sobbed. "But I barely said anything, and he suddenly tried to kill me. Please don't get upset… I'm sure he didn't mean it. He was just really angry and wasn't thinking straight."Naturally, the crowded ward was loud with outrage against me."He tried to kill Henry! He's really that crazy!""Yeah. Thank goodness Silvia never chose him, or who knows if he would kill her too."As they quickly shifted the blame on me, what little guilt Silvia felt over making me stay up faded right away."Carl Young, you really disappoint me!" she snapped. "I knew I shouldn't have felt anything for you!"As

Late into the night, my heart was racing so hard that I felt like it would spring out of my throat. However, I didn't want to stop and worked even faster. If I died now, I could go back!Still, it had been a while since I worked overnight, and every organ in my body was screaming in protest, while I found myself falling asleep on my desk a few times. To prevent it from happening again, I put a fruit knife on the table and stabbed myself if I got sleepy. When I jerked awake again and was ready to stab myself, a woman screamed behind me, "Are you crazy?!"I turned to find Claire running to me and excitedly grabbed her wrist. "Claire! You're back?!" However, it was just an illusion from fatigue, and Silvia's eyes widened in surprise. "What did you call me?!"Oh.My look of disappointment hurt her even more, and she pressed relentlessly, "What did you call me?!"I was annoyed, so I simply blurted, "Nothing… It's just a friend. She's not around anymore."Silvia wasn't stupid, ho
