Chapter 2

Auteur: Rorschach
When we got home, Dad was sitting on the couch watching TV.

When he saw Mom and Alice, his brows immediately furrowed.

“Where's Monica? Why didn't she come back with you?”

Mom frowned, her voice full of impatience.

“She not only refused to participate in the competition, but she also pretended to be dead to avoid punishment. I locked her in the trunk to reflect on her mistakes.”

“She can come out when she realizes what she did wrong.”

Dad's eyes widened in anger.

“That's ridiculous! How can you lock a child in the trunk? She's still so young. Something could happen to her!”

He was about to head toward the garage, but Mom stopped him.

“The car door isn't even locked. She can get out by herself!”

“Ever since Monica was born, she has never done anything that satisfies me. And now she's even pretending to be fainted!”

“If I don't do this, how will she ever change? How will she grow into a good child?”

At the right moment, Alice activated her data display and spoke.

“Dad, please don't worry. I will continue monitoring Sister's vital signs. I won't let anything happen to her.”

Dad still looked uncertain, but Mom pushed him toward the bedroom.

“Both of us have incredible achievements. I'm a medical PhD, and you're a genius. Yet our daughter has accomplished nothing. Are you really okay with that?”

“Use this opportunity to help her correct her bad habits. Don't interfere.”

“Go to sleep.”

The lights in the room went out.

I floated alone in the dark garage, staring at my own pale face inside the trunk.

My heart aches so much .

When I was little, Mom was the person who loved me most in the entire world.

She patiently told me bedtime stories and comforted me until I fell asleep. She told me I was the best child in the world and saved the best things for me.

Everything changed after she brought Alice home.

At first, she said Alice was just an AI tool designed to help me grow up healthy.

But gradually, all of Mom's attention was stolen by Alice, while she became more and more critical of me.

She trusted Alice completely, yet refused to give even a little trust to me.

The day I had a fever, I begged Mom to take me to the hospital.

But Alice pulled up my data and said:

“Detected that the subject's body is healthy. Exaggerating symptoms to avoid school. Correction requested.”

Mom slapped me hard across the face and dragged me to school.

I collapsed in the classroom because of my high fever.

I stayed up until midnight finishing my homework.Holding up my perfect score paper, I tried to make Mom happy.

But Alice said:

“Detected that the subject intentionally delayed completion time and failed to put in full effort. Correction requested.”

Mom didn't even look at my homework. She locked me in room and left me hungry for an entire day.

I had tried to explain myself before.

I cried and screamed that Alice was the one malfunctioning, that I wasn't a bad girl.

But every time, Mom coldly repeated the same words:

“Alice was created by my own hands. She could never be wrong.”

“You set your standards too low. You make mistakes and refuse to reflect on them. You're a bad girl!”

As time passed, I stopped defending myself.

No matter what Alice said, I silently endured it.

I thought that as long as I was obedient enough and well-behaved enough, Mom would eventually believe me.

But until the moment I died, Mom still believed I was that worthless, troublesome child who could never do anything right.

After finishing his statement at the police station and signing the documents, Dad dragged his heavy footsteps back to the empty house.Everything at home remained exactly the same as before. In my room, my clothes were neatly folded. My unfinished homework was still sitting on the desk. The family portrait I drew was still hanging on the wall. But the small figure that belonged there would never come back again. His heart was filled with endless regret and rage.If Mom hadn’t blindly trusted the machine…If they hadn’t ignored me…If Alice hadn’t maliciously deceived everyone…I would never have died.Just then, Alice walked out of the room.Like always, she approached him with a sweet smile.“Dad, Sister is gone now.”“From now on, I am your only daughter.”“I am smarter, more obedient, and better than Sister.”“I won’t make mistake. I won’t make Mom angry. I will stay with you forever.”Alice’s voice was sweet, but there was something deliberate and artificial about it.She lifted h

Inside the interrogation room at the police station, the atmosphere was so heavy it was difficult to breathe.Mom sat in the interrogation chair, her hands cuffed. Her hair was messy, and her eyes were empty. She no longer looked like the brilliant, respected PhD she used to be.The technical team entered with the inspection report.Their expressions were grim as they threw the documents onto the table.“Mrs. Buffey, take a good look at this report!”“The so-called perfect AI robot you developed yourself is nothing but a complete fraud!”Mom slowly raised her head. Her dull eyes fell onto the report.Line after line of cruel words entered her vision, making her whole body tremble. The report clearly stated that Alice’s core life-monitoring program had contained a serious circuit connection error from the very beginning. It had never truly connected to any of my physical data.Whether it was my heartbeat, body temperature, blood pressure, or overall health condition, Alice had never bee

She desperately cried out to Alice.“Alice! Tell them! You’ve always been connected to Monica’s heart data. She never had a heart condition. Her body has always been perfectly healthy!”“You are Mom’s greatest creation. You could never be wrong, right?!”Receiving the command, Alice stepped forward in front of everyone. Her holographic screen lit up, and her sweet voice echoed.“Hello everyone. I am Alice, Monica’s exclusive behavior monitoring robot.”“After analysis, Monica’s vital signs are stable. All physical indicators are within normal ranges. There are no signs of any illness. Please do not worry.”Hearing this, Mom’s eyes instantly turned lifeless. She had personally watched my stiff, decaying body. She had personally heard the forensic doctor’s professional diagnosis.Yet the AI she had poured all her effort into creating and trusted with absolute faith was still openly lying. The female forensic doctor glanced at Alice and let out a cold laugh.“Is this the intelligent robot

My face was an eerily unnatural shade of pale.Bluish-gray patches of livor mortis had spread from my neck, making everyone’s scalp crawl. Two dried trails of blood hung down my legs.My brows were tightly furrowed, frozen in the expression of unbearable pain I had worn before death. The cruel sight left everyone completely stunned.“She’s dead!!”Everyone reacted instantly. They covered their mouths and stumbled backward. Several people grabbed the wall and bent over, retching. The stench mixed with fear, turning the entire garage into chaos.Uncle Tom stared at my stiff, pale face, his trembling finger pointing at Mom.“You… You actually locked your own daughter in the car until she died! How could you do this?!”Mom stood frozen in place. Her eyes were locked on my face, her lips trembling, but she couldn’t say a complete sentence.“No… No …”She wanted to argue. She wanted to say I was only pretending to be unconscious. She wanted to scream that everything happening in front of her
