What was I thinking? How could I have blurted that out so easily? Damn, I was definitely going to regret this with the ruthless Prince.
“You shouldn’t command me to kiss you," he replied with a smirk. "If you want me to kiss you, then you’ll have to beg for it."
“It was a slip of the tongue," I said quickly, feeling my cheeks burn. "You shouldn’t take it seriously."
“Really?" he asked, stepping closer. I couldn’t help but notice how perfectly sculpted his lips were. They were pink and... I bit my lip, fighting the strange urge to kiss him.
"Teach me how to be strong," I said before I could stop myself. "I don’t want to stay the weak werewolf I’ve always been. I’m an original, and I can’t even shift. Please, I need your help." My voice faltered slightly as I stared into his eyes, hoping he’d understand.
“That’s enough for today," he said, his tone softening slightly. "Get some sleep. The serum seems to be messing with your head." He chuckled lightly before turning to leave the room.
A week after training began. From the very first day of training, I knew I was in for it. Death stared at me every single day of training as he let out a deadly training assignment. I mean who the hell would make you run in a land mine field as training?
He was truly ruthless. He didn't care if I threw up blood or almost got myself killed in one of the training sessions. All he cared about was perseverance and his ego.
The training of the day was to climb to the top of the cliff where I had fallen. It was steep and marshy, any slight mistake could make me fall straight down and break a bone or two.
"This is too dangerous for me", I declared.
"You are not a kid anymore, survive and you pass. I don't have to teach you everything." His voice is synchronous and strict at the same time.
As I approached the cliff, I began to remember everything that happened that night. I had been thrown off the cliff by the guards Mike had sent to see me off. They all wanted me dead just because I seemed quite ordinary than the rest of the pack. They were going to get it if they tried anything with me.
I began to climb the cliff with the little courage left in me. I could feel my heart about to leap out every time my leg slipped a little. I always knew death was inevitable but I couldn't die so soon after healing.
I managed to get to the cliff top but what met my eyes was just too huge for me to take in. Right before me stood Kelly Vixen and Mike Freeman. They seemed to be having a heated discussion about something and I kind of wanted to hear it.
"You know I love you Mike", she touched his chest in an attempt to clutch his sexual hormones.
"You know what we are up against. Do you think Rachael is dead? She isn't that easy to destroy and you know it more than anyone", Mike replied to her as he threw her hand away.
"Rachael Snyder is an outcast. No outcast just dies solo. I know what I am saying, if she's dead I would know immediately.", Mike added.
Just then Kelly spotted me. I knew I had to jump off or do something better before her curiosity was piqued but I was afraid of death. Kelvin wasn't all Mr nice, he would probably leave me to fall and heal once more.
The sound of footsteps brought me back to reality. Kelly was approaching me slowly and with a knife this time. She was going to kill me at the very least and make sure my body wasn't found. Things she'd do for love.
She was just steps away from me when I let go of my grip, falling once more. This was probably going to be the end of me, the end of a weakling. A mere prodigy to be killed to keep the world moving. An outcast, a rugged werewolf.
"You should be more careful when jumping next time. If not for precision I would probably be unable to catch you.", Kelvin's voice echoed in my ears. He had caught me before I landed on the ground. He liked to prove all my theories about him wrong. That's when I woke up from my imagination.
Our eyes met and I began to feel a little funny in my stomach. He was ruthless but loving at the same time, an ideal definition of a man.
"Let's head back before the sun goes back in", I dictate trying to get down from his arms.
"I am not letting you go. Not this time at least", he said as we headed back to the Tavern. Upon hearing those words my cheeks flushed red and I could hear myself throwing a party in my mind.
I never knew the Ruthless Lycan Prince could have a soft spot at the very least.
The Tavern was far more quiet than any other day. Everyone seemed to be out doing something which I wasn't informed of. Kelvin didn't seem bothered about that, instead he carried me straight to the hall.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY RACHAEL!!!", came the numerous voices as the door of the hall opened. It seemed pretty unrealistic to me as no one had ever celebrated me up to this day. I had even forgotten about my birthday due to all the incidents happening in my life. The price to pay for being such a burden.
“How did you guys even know today was my birthday?" I asked, my eyes wide as I took in the bright decorations and layers of cake.
"Prince Kelvin told us. He wanted to make it Grand for you so he decided to host your birthday here." the nurse explained. She seemed to be related to Kelvin in a way I couldn't imagine.
"You did this?", I asked, knowing how cruel he was to me the past couple of weeks.
"Can you believe it?", he blocked my thoughts with another question making me reason to another side.
"Thank you Kelvin", I hugged him tight. There was an uproar of applause as he placed his hands on my waist, hugging me back. I couldn't believe I would be celebrating my birthday with everyone in another territory.
“Sir Kelvin, there’s an intruder in the province," came a voice from behind us, snapping us both out of the moment.
The moment Kelly’s men flooded into the room, I knew I was finished. There were too many of them, all standing there like shadows, ready to follow her every command. My heart pounded as I glanced around, looking for an escape, but there was nowhere to go. The window, the only possible way out, seemed too far, and I knew I wouldn’t make it.I moved fast, adrenaline coursing through my veins, but before I could even reach the window, a pair of strong hands grabbed me from behind. My body was yanked back with such force that I could feel my breath leave my lungs in a rush. I struggled, kicking and squirming, but it was no use. They held me tight, dragging me back into the room.“Let me go!” I snarled, thrashing against them, but they just laughed.Behind them, Kelly stood, her expression cold and calculating. She wasn’t even out of breath. She was enjoying this. Watching me struggle was her favorite pastime, and she had won. The fight, the chaos, it was all over. And now, she had me, jus
The silence after that standoff buzzed like static in my ears. Kelly hadn’t moved yet. Neither had I. I was probably waiting for her to tie up her actions as usual.Rochelle had stopped thrashing, too, as if the air in the room had frozen before her. My chest rose and fell in ragged breaths, my heart still racing from the blow I’d missed and the one I had taken from her.Kelly’s face was unreadable now—her fury shimmered beneath a layer of deadly calm. That was more terrifying than her yelling but I remained calm. Her silence wasn’t peace. It was a storm that hadn’t struck yet. And in that moment, I understood something deeper: she wasn’t going to scream for help. She didn’t need help. She wanted to be the one to end this.“You’re still weak,” she said finally, her voice which was a low snarl. “Always been too soft. That’s why they threw you out. That’s why Mike had to reject you over me.”My lip curled at the mention of Mike. I hated that name.“He left because he was a coward. Not b
The door creaked open.I didn’t breathe. My body stiffened, my heart thudding wildly in my chest as my hand clamped over Rochelle’s mouth, holding her still. Her eyes were wide, her wrists still tied, her body struggling underneath mine. But it wasn’t Kelly. It was the guard—the one with the crooked nose, the one who always brought food. He stepped into the room, holding a tray, and froze the moment he saw us. His eyes widened in shock. The tray shook in his hands.Rochelle thrashed harder. We locked eyes. Me and the guard. It was only a second—but it felt like eternity. His mouth opened. I saw the horror dawn on his face. The tray dropped with a loud crash. Metal clanged against the stone floor. The food spilled everywhere, and before I could move, he turned and bolted out of the room, footsteps pounding down the hallway.I stood up quickly, taking one step toward the door.I should’ve chased him.But I didn’t.Rochelle looked up at me, her chest rising and falling fast beneath her g
The footsteps came to an abrupt stop outside the door.I didn’t move. Neither of us did. The air hung heavy with anticipation. The silence was suffocating, almost too thick to breathe in. My heart pounded, but it wasn’t fear that gripped me. It was the feeling of power, the delicate, dangerous thrill of watching someone unravel before me, piece by piece.Rochelle’s breath was shallow beneath the gag, and I could feel her pulse racing against my fingers. But I wasn’t done. Not yet. She still needed to understand. She needed to see how weak she truly was, how little control she had over her own fate.I paced around her slowly, keeping my distance, watching her. She tried not to look at me, tried to keep her gaze fixed on anything else. But I could see it in her eyes—the flicker of doubt that hadn’t been there before. It was the crack I had been waiting for.I leaned down, crouching next to her. The raw desperation in her eyes was still there, but now there was something else—something s
I could feel the weight of Rochelle’s panic pressing down on me as she just lay down there unmoved. She didn't try to pull herself free, but I wasn't leaving her like that because she became unmoved. Not this time, what if she is pretending it all. The air in the room felt thick, I was charged with tension, as if everything were on the verge of breaking, my mind racing. Has she given up the ghost? No! I snapped the thought of my mind.I kneeled before her, took her hand to mine yet she remained still.“Get up!”She didn't. A thought snapped me instantly, I brought my mouth to her nose and blew into her and suddenly she sneezed out.“Welcome back, you don't have to die now”Standing up from there. I was glad she was back to life.Killing her now won't solve my problem. “You think you can fool me with that drama you created just now?” I moved slowly and sat on her.“Let go of me!” Rochelle’s voice came out in a strained hiss, the fear clear in her tone. “You don’t want to do this. I’
The silence hung thick in the room, a heavy weight which was pressing down on me. My limbs ached from the chains that I had just freed myself from. I had injuries from the cool metal which had bitten into my wrists, even though I had those injuries I was happy, at least I had those shackled free from me but I couldn't leave this place. It was pointless, wasn’t it? No matter what I had tried to think, to get myself escaped from this place but no I couldn't leave, the place is too secure for me to barely escape without Kelly finding out. I had tried so many times before I unchained myself to think of a better way to leave this place, but now, I barely have the energy to think anymore because I feel there is no way of escaping. But that didn’t mean I had surrendered. Not yet.I am still alive. And as long as I breathe, I will fight. The sound of footsteps echoed down the corridor, sharp and deliberate. Immediately I returned back to my positioning like I was still in the chains.I didn’t
