Chapter 22

GINGER

On the evening of the full moon, I once again waited for my whole family to go to sleep. Luckily, both my dad and Paige were warriors, so they had early bedtimes. I quietly snuck out of the house, made my way into the woods, and disappeared into the darkness of the night. It was drizzling and I couldn’t even see the moon, clearly being covered by the clouds. I cursed my bad luck and hoped that it would be okay that there wasn't much moonlight available.

I made my way to the same place I went the last time, deciding it was a good spot, barely able to see in the dark, cloudy night. I wrapped my arms around my body thinking I should have worn a jacket as the small droplets wet my exposed skin and clothing. By the time I made it to the right place, I was practically shivering but it was so close to midnight I couldn't turn around.
