KAMARI POV

“Enough,” Silas yelled.

And suddenly the darkness in the forest disappeared, becoming as clear as day.

I stayed on the ground, panting so hard my chest hurt. My eyes moved around the forest which was now gone… the training ground had returned it was obviously an illusion. My eyes roamed around and there was.. Blood.

So much blood.

Bodies were scattered across the ground, some recruits lying unconscious while the healers were carrying away others. My stomach turned as I stared down at

KAMARI POVIf only they knew. There was nothing special about me, and if anything, I was probably the least qualified person in the entire Academy to be here because I had no wolf, no beast, and no bond, and if anyone discovered the truth, being called a spoiled princess would probably become the least of my problems.“Come on,” Rigina said, pulling me out of my thoughts. “We need to find that stupid book before I fall asleep standing up.”I nodded and followed her deeper into the Archives, trying to push the encounter with the boy out of my mind as I looked around at the endless rows of shelves that stretched all the way toward the high ceiling, each one packed with ancient books, scrolls, records, and texts that looked as though they had been sitting there for centuries. Some of the books had strange symbols carved into their covers, while others were bound in worn leather with faded titles that were barely visible anymore, making the entire place feel less like a library and mor

KAMARI POVSix hours. That was how long the run went on for the others, while I had been dismissed earlier because of my bleeding feet. I could tell Rigina was exhausted as we walked toward the Archives to get some reading done for the next class, which would be held in an hour, and honestly, I felt bad that I had been allowed to leave while everyone else had to keep running.“Arghh.” Rigina groaned, dragging her feet as she walked beside me. “I can’t feel my legs.”I couldn’t help but laugh softly. “You’ll survive.”“Easy for you to say. You escaped hours ago.”“I didn’t escape. I was injured.”“You were lucky.” I looked down at my feet, which were wrapped neatly in fresh bandages, and sighed. “I still feel bad.”“Don’t.” She shook her head. “Trust me, if Commander Rowan had made me stop, I would’ve gladly accepted.”I smiled faintly as we continued down the corridor, but my thoughts wandered back to Silas. He had been the one who stopped me from running when he noticed my fe

KAMARI POVIf not for the security cameras and the love I had for Father, I would have fled. The thought came to me every fucking time. I would’ve dropped out of this morning run, but I wasn’t in the mood to give that asshole Silas something to pick on me for. Thank goodness he canceled today’s training, but that didn’t stop his eyes from following me like a hawk. Today, we were grouped into Omegas and Gammas, each group running together except me, because they couldn’t tell what I was and I hadn’t shifted.“Speed up!” Commander Rowan of the First Wing yelled.I despised this so much. Exercise wasn’t my thing, and running barefoot was even worse. I’d kill for a blanket, some roasted pumpkin, and a sandwich right now. While the other packs picked up their pace, especially the Gammas, I dragged my painful ass along, knowing it was impossible to match their pace. Human and Lycan were a total lost battle.“If you keep running like that, Walder, you won’t be done till noon,” Silas’s vo

KAMARI POVRigina and I spoke for more than an hour, and having her with me wasn’t a total bore before she finally left. I looked up at the ceiling, wondering how I was going to survive staying here with no wolf or beast. I was already struggling to keep up with everyone, and now that Silas had made it clear he intended to make my life hell, I had no idea how long I would last. Then a voice came from the door. “See, you’re still alive.” My head turned toward the direction of the voice, and there he stood.Silas.I wondered what he wanted this time. Had he come to finish what he started? “What do you want?” I asked coldly, looking back at the ceiling instead of him.He didn’t say a word. He simply stood there with his arms crossed, watching me. “You must really want me dead so badly that you came here to attack me while I’m weak.”“Easy, Walder.” He moved closer and stopped beside my bed, his eyes roaming over me as though inspecting the damage he had caused. “I see no bones were

KAMARI POVThe last thing I remembered was being knocked out by that animal, Silas, and Darvin screaming my name. I opened my eyes slowly and found myself in the healing quarter, every bone in my body hurting like hell. I turned carefully onto my side and saw Rigina sitting beside my bed, asleep with her head resting against the wall. I looked toward the window and realized it was already nighttime, which meant I had been unconscious for hours. It was a stupid gamble pissing Silas off, but it was either that or getting caught, and I couldn’t afford to let anyone discover what I really was. Slowly, Rigina shifted in her sleep, and her eyes opened the moment she noticed me staring at her, relief washing all over her face. “Finally, you’re awake,” she said before wrapping her arms tightly around me.“Ouch.” I let out a soft, painful groan, and she immediately pulled away.“Sorry!” she whispered, looking horrified as she glanced over me. “I forgot you were practically broken.”I man

Silas POV Commander.” Darvin banged on my door. “Commander Silas.” He kept on banging, getting louder with every knock. “Open the fucking door, Silas. I know you’re in there.”I walked to the door and opened it, and his fist landed hard against my face.I clenched my jaw and tightened. Slowly, I turned my head back toward him, my jaw tightening as my eyes turned yellow. “You better have an explanation, Reid.”“You nearly killed her!” Darvin yelled, his chest rising and falling heavily as he glared at me.“She didn’t yield,” I said coldly my hand a fist. Waiting for him to dare try to strike me again and I was going fucking beat his ass. “She could barely fucking stand!”“She was still standing.”“You call that standing?” He stepped closer, his anger rolling off him. “She was bleeding all over the fucking ground, Silas. She couldn’t even keep her eyes open.”“She should have shifted.” “She told you she couldn’t.”“She said she wouldn’t.”“Whatever, she couldn’t.” Darvin’s voice har
