The Council's threat

I read through the files on the operation of an organization that called themselves Bloodhood, noting down their time and place of operation, alongside their mode to decide my next line of action.

"Five alphas had been kidnapped or killed in the past month without leaving a trace, their packs were untouched surprisingly, not even their Luna was wounded, and there were also no signs of struggle or fighting at the scene" Veruca, my beta reported as he placed more files containing more pictures of the attacked packs on the table. "Their operation happened across the country at almost the same time, making it very difficult for us to locate their base. And after searching several places we were able to capture three members of this organization," He continued

"Did you question them about their operations? What did you find? What is their aim?" I asked impatiently, tired of listening to the same story over and over again. It has always been the same story of losing the perpetrators since inception and it has started getting on my nerves

' How can some small fry organizations hide from the best warriors and trackers of the country? '

Shameful! Unheard of!

"Unfortunately we were unable to get any information from them" Veruca replied solemnly.

"And why is that?" I probed, knowing that my pack had the best torture devices and means to extract information from prisoners.

"Their tongues have been cut off there was no way they could talk and they have not learned to write," Veruca replied, I let out a frustrated sigh, baling my fist in anger and exhaustion as I looked over the file and the picture again.

Just when we think we found a lead, we are sent back to the first step

How long are we going to roam in a circle?

How long are we going to allow those fugitives to keep roaming the streets and causing chaos?

"What are the Similarities among the alphas that were taken or killed? There should be something we are missing somewhere, this group can't be smart enough to fully cover their tracks! Are we not looking deep enough?" I asked in utter bafflement. It's been several months since this particular group started their operation and we haven't been able to find anything about them.

"There have been no known similarities between the packs but we can't possibly tell when it comes to the alphas since they aren't known personally by us, however, we found out from investigation that all the alphas received a letter six hours before they were attacked, we didn't get the letter as evidence since it was self-destructive," Veruca explained calmly, maintaining his stoic indifferent face all through.

"So there is no way we could maybe figure out their next target? Are we just going to keep sitting here when alphas are being killed and kidnapped?" I asked angrily, feeling my wolf growling lowly at the obvious threat sent to my authority.

"We will keep looking to find anything of importance, I already ordered for the fangs battalion to keep an eye out," Veruca affirmed

"Please do, there has to be something, a reason of some sort as to why they target alphas, and maybe from there we can find out what they want and how to lure them out" I sighed, returning to reading files "We have to lure them out and end their activities as soon as possible before they grow larger wings and threaten the livelihood of other people."

"We will, our best alpha"

"Is there any more news for me to look at? "

"You are scheduled to visit the Blue Moon pack in three days for the annual checkup as well as to see if your mate is in their pack" Veruca reported closing the chapter about the organisation to move on to less unsettling matters.

"You would go in my stead, I have a lot on my plate at the moment, you are familiar procedure for the annual checks. I have a meeting with the commanders of each battalion and I won't be available to do the pack checkups myself." I clarified, seeing the way his face pulled together at my suggestion.

Annual reports aren't as important as the silent unrest brewing underneath, my mate could also wait a few more years until this unrest is settled and the tiny organization that hunts alphas is put to justice.

"It is impossible I find your mate for you," Veruca argued "My mate can wait, Veruca, does it not unnerve you that alphas have been going missing for the last three months? If this continues, how many alpha will be left to guard their territory from threats?" I explained trying to make him understand things from my perspective, he pursed his lips and frowned, I suppressed the urge to groan outwardly as I knew what was coming next was a lecture, one I had heard a million times over and over again

"Every Alpha needs their Luna, that's how it has always been and that's how it will continue to be! I've known you long enough to know you don't think of your Luna as some kind of weakness. Your partner is your strength, for purebloods like you, once mated your strength will increase tenfold, I'm not saying you are weak, you are the strongest that much is obvious, but don't you think we need you at your strongest at a time like this? " he questioned, throwing his hands in the air to emphasize his point "I won't force you to go" he breathed out and I raised my eye suspiciously

"No more lectures?" I find myself asking, it was usually longer than this, it would have taken an hour at least, to lecture me about the importance of having my mate, and how alphas without their Luna are more susceptible to eruption and turning into a rogue.

"I'm done lecturing you about the same thing all over again, it's not been working anyways but I'm sure you will change your mind after hearing the message sent from the Elders council" I saw a grin appear on his face at the mention of Elders council and my mood turned sore

"The Elder's council had a meeting and concluded that if in a year you have not been properly mated your position as the Supreme Alpha will be taken away from you" he relayed their message cheerfully, handing me the letter that was sent.

As I looked through the letter I realized Veruca had put it more subtly and politely.

Those old geezers are nothing but a pain in my arse. The bane of my existence. They know nothing we than to sit back and make unreasonable plans

"Have Lilith prepare everything I will be needing for my travel, I'm going nate hunting," I groaned out

MIRANDA’S POV I made a lot of mistakes on the afternoon of her abduction. That afternoon, the journey was going so well at first. After a night full of rain, the day was bright and sunny. We were on our way to the Athan’s palace. White clouds passed over greenery and white-peaked blue mountains stood stoically on the horizon. Mitchell wanted to visit and familiarize with her soon-to-be home. When the journey began, her car led our entourage. Consequently, our car seemed to overtake or her car slowed down, I don’t know how it happened. However, later that evening, one of the drivers said Damien had claimed that his car shouldn’t be in front because the Lycan Supreme’s Luna was in there. While we were on the journey, I felt a premonition but chose to ignore it; mistake number one. ‘What happened? I don’t see their car anymore.’ I was holding my hands over my eyebrows and scanning into the black monk's forest. ‘Something is wrong. I can feel it.’ Jissa said. Her car had stopped an

  • Wolves of the legend    Veruca's POV

VERUCA’S POV‘Any word from him yet?’The guard shook his head. I have tried to reach Athan since yesterday, to no avail. He was supposed to be back from Golden Leaves yesterday for the meeting. It was supposed to discuss the hunting rights decree by the new mayor who is human and does not know our ways and customs (given my way I would have eaten him up a long time ago), the vampire-werewolf uprising in the north, and Athan’s marriage to Mitchell. The whole tribe depended on the answer.‘Call his phone number again and let me know the outcome.’‘Yes sir.’ The guard responded and disappeared. The phone began to ring again. It was Elan, one of my new boys at the camp. I had recruited him specially to spy on the other boys. Sometimes those boys can make very foolish decisions that could undermine the brotherhood’s effort. I will not allow that.‘What is it?’ I didn’t wear my mask as usual.‘Mitchell is gone, and Damien too.’I hoped I had heard wrong. So I paused and waited for him to

JISSA’S POVWhat had just happened?I could feel my legs shaking. Scenes from the incident flashed through my mind in quick succession: the peaceful ride, the times I fell in and out of sleep, and the moment the car stopped and our driver announced that Mitchell’s car was gone. Even with these scenes, my mind tried to find a logical reason for the disappearance or how it took place.‘I want to go and find her.’ I declared suddenly, loosening myself from Miranda’s embrace.‘Where do you know you are going to start? I have already called Golden Leaves. They should be here anytime soon.’I didn’t pay any attention to Miranda. Her voice grew faint by the minute.‘Where did you stop seeing the car?’ I directed at one of the drivers, Miranda’s driver, I guess.‘Over there.’ the stout man pointed at a distance not far from where I stood.‘Jissa, you can’t.’ Miranda drew close to me and tried to take my hand.I turned to her and fired.‘Miranda, our friend is missing. My friend of many years

  • Wolves of the legend    Mitchell's POV

MITCHELL’S POVToday is the day. I didn’t imagine this day would be like this. The flowers were more beautiful and the sun smiled dimly on us. Even the birds composed a little song for me and sang it endlessly from high up in the trees. Family and friends stood at the opposing sides of the aisle as I glided ceremoniously through it to meet the love of my life. He was standing at the other end, resplendent in all his manliness. His beta stood proudly beside him and Miranda watched at the head of the assembly. She was the ordaining minister. The floor was strewn with petals of Castilian roses. I have never seen that much in one place. And then, with a hot slap to my thigh, it vanished. My head felt as though it had been hit by a thousand bricks. I couldn’t see anything. Something seemed to press on my back. I tried to move, but it was not possible. I couldn’t move my hands and legs. They seemed to be held together by something rough and tight. I was on a cold surface. It felt like met

ATHAN’S POV‘I called you both to renew my intentions for your daughter. I love her and want to have her as my wife. And I wanted to ask you formally and respectfully to let me have your daughter to take as my wife.’Mister and Misses Harris laughed lightly. They were seated opposite me in their family study. The afternoon was turning a golden brown and dinner would be served any moment. ‘You have marked her already and if it is the will of the moon goddess, who are we to refuse? She is on the way to your house now because she too can’t wait to be with you. So you see, it relies on the both of you alone.’ Mr. Harris said and his wife nodded enthusiastically.‘I know we are mated. I wanted to make it formal and ask her hand as someone who comes from a revered lineage as yours and an alpha of a mighty pack.’‘Thank you Mergec.’Misses Harris continued.‘I have spoken with Mitchell and since she wants you too, my husband and I have nothing to do but give our blessings.’‘Thank you.
