The Council's threat

I read through the files on the operation of an organization that called themselves Bloodhood, noting down their time and place of operation, alongside their mode to decide my next line of action.

"Five alphas had been kidnapped or killed in the past month without leaving a trace, their packs were untouched surprisingly, not even their Luna was wounded, and there were also no signs of struggle or fighting at the scene" Veruca, my beta reported as he placed more files containing more pictures of the attacked packs on the table. "Their operation happened across the country at almost the same time, making it very difficult for us to locate their base. And after searching several places we were able to capture three members of this organization," He continued

"Did you question them about their operations? What did you find? What is their aim?" I asked impatiently, tired of listening to the same story over and over again. It has always been the same story of losing the perpetrators since inception and it has started getting on my nerves

' How can some small fry organizations hide from the best warriors and trackers of the country? '

Shameful! Unheard of!

"Unfortunately we were unable to get any information from them" Veruca replied solemnly.

"And why is that?" I probed, knowing that my pack had the best torture devices and means to extract information from prisoners.

"Their tongues have been cut off there was no way they could talk and they have not learned to write," Veruca replied, I let out a frustrated sigh, baling my fist in anger and exhaustion as I looked over the file and the picture again.

Just when we think we found a lead, we are sent back to the first step

How long are we going to roam in a circle?

How long are we going to allow those fugitives to keep roaming the streets and causing chaos?

"What are the Similarities among the alphas that were taken or killed? There should be something we are missing somewhere, this group can't be smart enough to fully cover their tracks! Are we not looking deep enough?" I asked in utter bafflement. It's been several months since this particular group started their operation and we haven't been able to find anything about them.

"There have been no known similarities between the packs but we can't possibly tell when it comes to the alphas since they aren't known personally by us, however, we found out from investigation that all the alphas received a letter six hours before they were attacked, we didn't get the letter as evidence since it was self-destructive," Veruca explained calmly, maintaining his stoic indifferent face all through.

"So there is no way we could maybe figure out their next target? Are we just going to keep sitting here when alphas are being killed and kidnapped?" I asked angrily, feeling my wolf growling lowly at the obvious threat sent to my authority.

"We will keep looking to find anything of importance, I already ordered for the fangs battalion to keep an eye out," Veruca affirmed

"Please do, there has to be something, a reason of some sort as to why they target alphas, and maybe from there we can find out what they want and how to lure them out" I sighed, returning to reading files "We have to lure them out and end their activities as soon as possible before they grow larger wings and threaten the livelihood of other people."

"We will, our best alpha"

"Is there any more news for me to look at? "

"You are scheduled to visit the Blue Moon pack in three days for the annual checkup as well as to see if your mate is in their pack" Veruca reported closing the chapter about the organisation to move on to less unsettling matters.

"You would go in my stead, I have a lot on my plate at the moment, you are familiar procedure for the annual checks. I have a meeting with the commanders of each battalion and I won't be available to do the pack checkups myself." I clarified, seeing the way his face pulled together at my suggestion.

Annual reports aren't as important as the silent unrest brewing underneath, my mate could also wait a few more years until this unrest is settled and the tiny organization that hunts alphas is put to justice.

"It is impossible I find your mate for you," Veruca argued "My mate can wait, Veruca, does it not unnerve you that alphas have been going missing for the last three months? If this continues, how many alpha will be left to guard their territory from threats?" I explained trying to make him understand things from my perspective, he pursed his lips and frowned, I suppressed the urge to groan outwardly as I knew what was coming next was a lecture, one I had heard a million times over and over again

"Every Alpha needs their Luna, that's how it has always been and that's how it will continue to be! I've known you long enough to know you don't think of your Luna as some kind of weakness. Your partner is your strength, for purebloods like you, once mated your strength will increase tenfold, I'm not saying you are weak, you are the strongest that much is obvious, but don't you think we need you at your strongest at a time like this? " he questioned, throwing his hands in the air to emphasize his point "I won't force you to go" he breathed out and I raised my eye suspiciously

"No more lectures?" I find myself asking, it was usually longer than this, it would have taken an hour at least, to lecture me about the importance of having my mate, and how alphas without their Luna are more susceptible to eruption and turning into a rogue.

"I'm done lecturing you about the same thing all over again, it's not been working anyways but I'm sure you will change your mind after hearing the message sent from the Elders council" I saw a grin appear on his face at the mention of Elders council and my mood turned sore

"The Elder's council had a meeting and concluded that if in a year you have not been properly mated your position as the Supreme Alpha will be taken away from you" he relayed their message cheerfully, handing me the letter that was sent.

As I looked through the letter I realized Veruca had put it more subtly and politely.

Those old geezers are nothing but a pain in my arse. The bane of my existence. They know nothing we than to sit back and make unreasonable plans

"Have Lilith prepare everything I will be needing for my travel, I'm going nate hunting," I groaned out
