Chapter 4

Author: Aria Gale
"Exactly. Cassian doesn’t have time to take care of you, but we will. Don’t worry, we’ll treat you far more gently than he does."

"Yeah. Kaelith, why don’t you move into my place? I’ll take care of you personally 24 hours a day."

"Shut up!" Cassian roared, "All of you shut the hell up. Kaelith is my wife. The child in her womb is mine. What right do you have to take care of her? Say one more word, and I’ll make you disappear from Harbor City."

The five men sulked in silence.

Cassian quickly scheduled the abortion.

The doctor asked, "Three? You’re really going to terminate all of them? What a pity."

Cassian nodded firmly. "Not only are the three babies being aborted, but her uterus will be removed as well. She’ll never need to have children again in this lifetime."

"Then, Mr. Thorne, you…"

"I already have Sabine’s child. I won’t allow any other children to threaten his position as heir. Do as I say. Terminate the pregnancy and remove her uterus according to plan."

My nails dug into my palms. I clenched my teeth to keep the tears from falling.

Seven days remained until the procedure.

Six days left. I threw away all my personal belongings in the house and burned every photo of Cassian and me together.

Cassian was too busy taking care of Sabine to notice anything.

Four days left. It was the day Adric was supposed to arrive, yet neither he nor Lennox answered their phones.

I had no choice but to rely on myself, gathering pieces of evidence of Cassian’s crimes one by one. I knew that as an orphan, even with proof, I wouldn’t stand a chance against Cassian.

Two days left. Adric’s phone was still unreachable. I had to prepare for the worst.

Two days later, Cassian personally took me to the hospital.

"Don’t worry. The babies are still small. It’s a minor procedure. You’ll recover quickly. We’ll have children in the future."

His concerned expression made it hard to imagine he was the same man who had viciously ordered my uterus removed.

Just as the doctor was about to wheel me into the operating room, Sabine suddenly appeared with Cassian’s five friends. They deliberately avoided me and pulled Cassian into the stairwell.

Sabine, however, sent me a livestream video directly.

"Cassian, why not hold off on the abortion for now? Aren’t you curious whose child Kaelith is actually carrying?"

"Yeah. Since she’s already pregnant, let’s make another bet—this time for $100 million. Five men, three babies."

"That guarantees three winners and two losers. Just thinking about it is thrilling. It’s only a few extra days for another test. What’s the rush?"

"Who knows? Maybe all three damn kids are mine, hahaha!"

Cassian hesitated, but Sabine kept urging him on.

"Cass, just agree to it. If we’re going to play, we should play big. Once the test shows the babies aren’t yours, you’ll have leverage over Kaelith forever. She won’t be able to clear her name even if she jumps into the river. She’ll never dare leave you again."

The livestream cut off, replaced by a message from Sabine mocking me, "Did you see that? You’re just their toy. Whether it’s the Thornes or Cassian, the only child they’ll acknowledge is the one in my belly—the sole heir.

"Once the test results for the babies inside you come out, your children will disappear completely. And so will you."

As if sensing the threat, my abdomen suddenly twisted with sharp pain. Having experienced a miscarriage before, a terrible premonition flooded me.

In my dazed state, I heard people whispering nearby.

"A man covered in blood just came into the hospital. It’s terrifying."

"He looked frantic, saying he was searching for a pregnant woman."

"Oh my God… isn’t that Adric Vale, the underground king who can end a life with a flick of his finger?"

"If you hadn’t betrayed me or forced me, I would never have shown you any of this. And besides, you were enjoying those nights too, weren’t you?"He wasn’t wrong. I had enjoyed those nights.Because Adric had been the one with me every night. In the days after I lost the baby, I couldn’t eat or sleep, but Cassian kept demanding that I apologize to Sabine. All because I had slapped her once. She had thrown hysterics, threatening to hang herself. Then, Cassian had forced me to kneel in front of Sabine."Kaelith, when you make a mistake, you pay the price. This is what you deserve."However, it was Sabine who had killed my child. I was the one who had been wronged, yet he made me apologize to her.I was heartbroken and humiliated.Until I overheard Cassian and Sabine’s plan.I lost my mind with rage. With nowhere else to go, I had called Adric. After loving Cassian for so many years, I never imagined he would treat my body and my children as gambling stakes on a table.Thankfu

"What did you just say?" Cassian asked warily, "Kaelith, what nonsense are you talking about?"I slapped him again. Blood sprayed everywhere. It was disgusting.Adric gently wiped the blood from my hand with a wet tissue. "Wifey, don’t dirty your hands. Let me handle it."Bleeding heavily from the blows, Cassian suddenly burst into laughter. "Hahaha! Hahaha! Adric, how can someone as high and mighty as you be so stupid?"You don’t even know whose children Kaelith is carrying, yet you rushed to make that public announcement. Aren’t you afraid of humiliating yourself? Do you know how she got pregnant with those three babies? Do you realize they could all have different fathers?""Exactly!" Sabine chimed in, "Mr. Vale, you’ve been deceived. Kaelith is nothing but a tramp. If you knew what she went through to get pregnant with those three babies, you’d be utterly disgusted. You’d despise her."Adric lightly patted my hand. "Oh? What process? Show me. I’d love to see for myself."Sab

"Impossible. Impossible. Absolutely impossible!""But Adric has already made the announcement. Someone like him wouldn’t do that lightly. Every move he makes affects billions in business.""Yeah, Cassian, you should call Kaelith right now."Suddenly, Sabine screamed, "Could she be on Obsidian Isle? The one where you… played with her? Cassian, I told you she was a tramp. Of all places, she chose that island on purpose."Cassian hurled his glass aside and staggered toward the door.Adric’s phone was on the verge of exploding with calls, all from elders of the Vale family.Messages flooded in one after another.Adric’s mother, Valeria Vale. : [You brat, bring my daughter-in-law to see me immediately. I missed your childhood, but I refuse to miss my grandchildren. And I’ve prepared a huge gift for her. Come home soon.]Adric’s father, Nixon Vale: [Well done, son. Triplets right away! Impressive. Your grandfather already gave $300 million, so I’ll match it.]Aunts, uncles, and ever

"It's fake. She probably just rented some random car to fool you.""You’re panicking and falling right into her trap. Cassian, calm down. Calm down. She’ll come back on her own."The words made sense, yet Cassian still felt uneasy. All these years, I had never left the house at night. Not once.He sent me another message.[You have thirty minutes to come home. If you don’t, don’t blame me for divorcing you.]Adric tossed my phone aside and pulled me onto his lap, my body draped across his long legs. "Ignore that trash. When should we make the announcement?""Announcement? About what?""That the Vales finally have a third generation.""But I haven’t divorced Cassian yet."He kissed my forehead. "What does that matter? Kaelith, bankrupting Cassian would take me seconds, let alone something as trivial as a divorce. Our children are what matter."Just imagine his reaction when he finds out your three babies are all mine, when he realizes those nights were a game between you and m

Scum. All of them were scum.Cassian touched the swollen mark on his face, furious. "Kaelith, I’m your husband. What right do you have to refuse me?"I turned him toward the doorway. Sabine was standing there, tears streaming down her face."Cassian… you…"Cassian immediately let go of me and jumped up. "Sabine, don’t misunderstand. It’s not what you think, really not what you think. We were just—"She didn’t give him a chance to explain. Sabine spun around and ran off.Cassian rushed after her, leaving a single command: "Wait for me in bed."I let out a cold laugh.I took only a single bag, which contained all my most important documents.I had decided to leave. From this moment on, I would have nothing to do with these filthy people ever again. As I passed Sabine’s room, she was still crying. "Cassian, you promised me you’d never touch Kaelith again. You betrayed me. You’ve wronged me."Cassian tried desperately to soothe her. "You’re both my women. I just love you more. A

I forced myself to stay conscious and searched for Adric, but after only a few steps, my nerves gave out, and I collapsed. When I woke again, I was already in the car heading back.Cassian had Sabine nestled in his arms, while I sat alone in the front passenger seat."You’re just too kind. She’s the one having surgery, yet you insisted on staying by her side. You’re pregnant too. The most important thing now is taking care of your body and my son."When he said "my son", he grinned so happily that it reminded me of how he had looked when I first became pregnant.Back then, he had spun me around in his arms."I’m going to be a father! Honey, we’re going to be parents!"Do you think it’s a boy or a girl? I prefer a son—only a son can inherit everything I’ve built."But if it’s a daughter, that’s fine too. A daughter you give birth to will be just as beautiful as you. And we can always have a second or third child."Those words still echoed in my ears. However, now he wanted to d
