LOGINRosetta's POV
I pushed him away from me and fixed myself. I glared at him, but the fool was just grinning. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. "Stop doing that, Nick," I said stiffly. "Doing what?" he asked innocently, adjusting his polo shirt. Seriously, Nick? Really? Once again, I rolled my eyes. "Nothing... nothing," I said. I turned away from him, about to leave his room to find Zylia. But he grabbed my wrist. "Where are you going, Rosetta?" he asked. I turned to face him and frowned. "To your daughter's room. She's waiting for me." "How about me?" he asked. "What about you?" I asked back, surprised. Seriously? What is happening to him? He let go of my hand and turned his back on me. "Nothing... nothing. Go on, go back to Zylia," he said coldly, picking up the black suit case lying on his bed. My forehead was still furrowed as I looked at him. What's wrong with him? I can't understand his mood swings. One minute he's so sweet, and the next, his voice is colder than ice. I just shook my head at his behavior. "Anyway, I just came to your room to check if you were done changing clothes..." "But I guess you are. I'll get going," I added. I didn't hear a reply from him, so I just left his room. I immediately went to Zylia's room. I knocked twice before entering. I found Zylia lying on her stomach, playing with her Barbie doll. "I thought you weren't coming, Mommy," Zylia said sadly. I smiled and walked over to her. I sat down in front of her, cupped her face, and said, "I was just talking with your Daddy. I'm sorry Mommy took so long." "It's fine, Mommy. You're here now," she replied and smiled again. "Let's play again." I nodded and lay on my stomach to join her. We combed and changed the clothes of her expensive dolls. We stayed like that for an hour. We only stopped when she started to get bored. I made her sit up because she had been lying on her stomach for a while and her chest might start to hurt. "Does anything hurt?" I asked her. She shook her head. "No, Mommy." "Are you hungry? I can cook something for you," I suggested. "I'm not hungry. I'm just sleepy," Zylia said and yawned. "Come here," I said with a smile. She came over right away. I carried her to her bed and laid her down. "Go to sleep. I'll be here to watch over you." I patted her thighs to help her fall asleep, and sometimes I would fix her hair. When I saw that she was asleep, I couldn't help but smile. It was a genuine smile that I hadn't felt in a long time. I mean, I grew up alone as a kid. Daddy was always at work and he would never give me even a little bit of his time. I see myself in Zylia, so I won't let her experience what I did when I was a child. I will make sure that Nicholas has time for her no matter what. Now that I am in their lives, I will do everything to make Zylia happy. "From now on, you'll live here," Nick said, which made my lips part in disbelief as I looked at him. "I have a home, Nick." "And you are not safe there," he replied, using his icy-cold voice. How can he say that I'm not safe in my apartment? I know my apartment is small, but that doesn't mean I'm not safe there. I sighed deeply. "I'm still going home, Nick." "Why are you so stubborn, Rosetta? You always disagree with me, and I hate it." "Because you're stubborn too, Nick," I shot back. "Don't you understand that I need to go home?" I annoyedly sat on the couch in his room. "Why do you want to go back to that tiny apartment so much? This house is bigger than your apartment," he said with a condescending tone. Seriously? He's going to say that? He's really trying to make me feel bad for being poor now and wanting to live in a big house? Then, to hell with him! The room filled with silence. I could feel his gaze on me, but I ignored it. I didn't say anything else. I just kept quiet and looked toward a corner. There was no point in arguing with him anymore. "I'm sorry," he apologized. Now he's going to apologize? What an idiot. I didn't respond. I was annoyed with him and the things he had said. "Rosetta..." he called my name, but I just pretended I didn't hear him. I looked at my nails and played with them. How many months has it been since I've gotten my nails done? I miss it. But I don't have the money to get them done again. I heard his heavy sigh in front of me—I don't even know how he got there. "Are you really not going to talk to me?" he asked. I looked up at him. I raised an eyebrow. "Is my opinion still needed? You already decided, Nick... You even compared my apartment to your house." "I didn't mean to. I thought—" "You thought what? That I want to live in your house?" I cut off what he was about to say. He looked away and nodded. "Just because I'm a Morgan doesn't mean I want to live in a big house. Yes, I grew up wealthy, but that doesn't mean I can't survive in a small apartment," I said angrily. "I'm sorry, okay?" "You're being controlling, Nicholas. You think you get everything you want. I'm not your puppet who will follow everything you want," I said sternly. I took a deep breath and looked out his room window. "My job here is to be your wife and a mother to your daughter, but that doesn't mean I have to submit myself to you. I hope... I hope we stick to what's in the contract. I'll be your wife—no strings attached, no sex... just a contract."Rosetta POV"What do you need? I thought you already left."I was about to leave the building when I ran into Nicholas's ex-wife in the lobby. I thought she had left, but it turned out she had waited for me. I didn't know what she wanted.I raised an eyebrow at her when she didn't speak."If you don't have anything to say, I'm leaving. I still have to pick up my daughter," I told her. I turned my back and was about to walk past her when she grabbed my arm."Do you really believe what he's telling you?" she asked me, her tone laced with mockery.I turned to look at her with a frown. "What are you talking about?"Her loud laugh filled the whole lobby. Everyone was looking at us because of the ruckus she was causing."Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about," she said again. "If you want to know about your so-called husband... if he even is your husband.""Do you think I'll believe you?" I asked her.She shrugged. "If you don't want to believe me, fine. It's your choice. But
Nicholas POV"You can't take my daughter away from me, Celeste," I said to her firmly. She has the nerve to come back into our lives. She abandoned Zylia for the sake of her career, and now she's back like nothing happened? Not gonna happen. There's no way she's getting my daughter."Zylia is still my daughter... you can't just introduce another woman to be her mother," Celeste said dramatically. She challenged me to a staring contest before speaking again. "I'll take her whether you like it or not. I am her mother, and I have every right, you know the rules, Nick."Then f**k that f**king rules! I'll break the rules when it comes to my daughter. I'll spend billions to keep her from getting Zylia."Then see you in court, Celeste. You also know that I have connections... I have money, and I can pull strings just to fight for my daughter," I said, grinning at her. I leaned back in my leather swivel chair and looked at her, bored. "You won't win against me, especially since you were never
Rosetta's POVNick was about to enter his soldier inside me when we heard Zylia's voice outside our room."Mommy! Daddy!" Zylia called us.Nicholas swore several times. Biting my lip, I pushed him off of me."Our daughter's calling us, Nick," I told him softly. I quickly picked up my panties and skirt from the floor and put them on immediately. When I finished, I immediately faced Nick, who was now only wearing boxers. I glanced down at his middle and bit my lip because the bulge was so big."Stop staring, wife..."I looked away and turned my back. I walked to the door and quickly opened it. I saw Zylia standing in front of our room door."Yes, baby? Do you need anything?" I asked her in a sweet tone. She nodded her head and pouted. "Yes, Mommy... I'm hungry. I want to eat Jollibee."I sat down so we were at the same level. "Do you want me to cook your food, hmm?" I asked her.She shook her head. "I don't want to. I want Jollibee, can I, Mommy?" she asked."Let's ask your dad, baby,"
Rosetta's POVNicholas’s words felt like a bucket of cold water had been dumped over me.Zylia's biological mother is back.So what happens to me? Will he throw me away from his life... from their life? And if I hadn't asked him, he wouldn't have told me. He had no plans on telling me."If I didn't ask you, you wouldn't have planned on telling me about it?" I asked him, a little bit hurt by only finding out now.A week has already passed, and he's only just told me."It’s not that... I just wanted to solve it on my own," he replied."Okay," was the only word that came out of me.I accepted that I wasn't really a part of his life. I didn't have the right to interfere because he was right... Zylia is his child, and she's not mine."Did you two meet... uhm... Did you talk already?" I asked him. I avoided his gaze because I didn't want to show him how much I was hurting."Yes, but we just tal—""Okay." I nodded and smiled. I faced him and saw him swallow several times. "No need to explain
Rosetta's POVIt's been weeks since I started ignoring him. We sleep together in one room, but I never let him near me; I sleep on the couch while he takes the bed. That's been our setup all week because I don't want Zylia to think that her crazy father and I are fighting.Sometimes when he comes home from work, he brings me flowers. He's trying to court me, win me back, but I'm still genuinely upset with him. I don't know when he'll stop. Just like now, he's carrying flowers—a bouquet of roses. He picked up Zylia from school.I raised my brows at him. "Do you really think your little flower gestures will win me over?" I asked him."Forgive Daddy already, Mommy," Zylia said from beside him, holding a teddy bear.Well, look at that! He even conspired with his daughter."And you really involved your daughter in this nonsense of yours?" I asked him."Please forgive me, Wife," he said while handing me the flowers he had been holding."Yes, Mommy. He promised that he wouldn't be mad again,
Rosetta's POVI blushed at what Mom said."What did Grandma mean, Mommy?" Zylia asked me.I shook my head and smiled. "It's nothing, baby.""Let's not pressure her, Ma," Nicholas said from behind me. "Zylia, come with your Mom. Your Grandma and I will just talk," he added in a serious voice. Why is he getting angry? What are they going to talk about? Is it about Mom's joke? I know Mom was just kidding."Nick, Mom was just joking. It doesn't hurt me," I said softly. I knew they both heard me because they turned to look at me."Just obey what I say, Rosetta."Did he just call me by my name? Rosetta... not wife, baby, or any other endearment he calls me? What's wrong with you, Nick? Why are you acting this way?I gave him a bitter smile and then nodded. I took Zylia's hand, turned my back on them, and Zylia and I went to the pool area. With slumped shoulders and a heavy heart, I sat down on a chair. Zylia sat on a small stool, holding her dolls."Mommy, is Daddy mad?" Zylia asked me, a q
