I stood frozen in the center of the room, clutching the torn pieces of the file like they were pieces of my own broken heart. The record player kept spinning, echoing that haunting melody — our song.

How could he…?

I was so lost in the flood of memories that I didn’t hear the door creak open.

"Alina?"

I turned sharply, startled — and there he was. Darren.

He looked at me… then at the scattered photos on the floor… and finally at the letter in my trembling hand.

His expression shifted — from confusion, to realization, to quiet dread.

“Who are you?” I asked, my voice breaking.

“Who I've always been…just a different chapter” he replied.

I couldn't believe all this was real.

"You knew," I whispered.

My voice cracked.

"You knew all along, didn’t you?"

He didn’t speak. Not yet. Not a single word.

The silence was louder than the music.

“You’re Wolf,” I said, louder this time. “You’ve been pretending this whole time, playing the role of someone else while I… I—” I stopped. M

  • Wrong bride to the right husband    Chapter 16(Injured)

I tried to pull down the pajamas and cover the injury but it was no use, he had already seen it.“Why didn't you tell me you were injured?” He asked again, closer to me this time.“Why are you acting like an overprotective person speaking to a five year old that can't protect herself?” I didn't like the way he sounded.“I'm in charge of my body and it's totally normal to get injured…and I mustn't tell you everything” I went back to tend to the injury.“You act like you're my daddy” I muttered. He just stood there watching me from behind.“I'm sorry. I…I didn't mean to overreact” he apologised. I turned a deaf ear to him and acted like I didn't hear him.He came in front of me and squatted to the level of the chair I was seated on.I was surprised by his actions. I didn't expect him to do that. I ignored him and kept on with what I was doing. I had stopped the bleeding and was applying the ointment on the wounded part.I pretended he wasn't there and tried to act cool, but I was so ne

“You mean Darren's wolf…no…I mean, wolf is Darren?” Miriam asked in disbelief, her mouth stuffed with the burger she was eating. She looked at me wide eyed.“I couldn't believe it myself,” I replied.“To think he left six years ago, now he is back…married to you” Miriam let out a low whistle and took a bite from her burger.“Girl, that's not anything out of the ordinary, it is fate speaking” she smiled and drank her juice.“Did you accept him back into your life?” She looked at me skeptically.“We're still at it. I haven't given him an answer yet” I ate some of her burger. “But I have accepted him in my heart” I smiled as I said that.“Aww, that's wonderful” she held my hand. “I'm happy for you” I could see the gleam in her eyes.“Do you have anybody in mind or suspect anyone that could have sent that message?” She asked.I wasn't sure who to suspect. His phone was lost in the subway, meaning that it must have been thrown away or kept in the police custody or…someone picked it…someone

I quickly had my bath after brushing my teeth. The towel was still wrapped firmly around my body. I smiled to myself in the mirror. The skin of my face was becoming fairer and more radiant. Skincare products lined on the counter and there were more inside the cupboard.“Darren actually knows the products best for my skin” I smiled to myself. He was the anonymous person who set up the room with things I liked; the colour of the room, the golden bars and colour of the sitting room, the artworks and a whole lot of things. I think he built this mansion with me in mind…but then, how did he know I was going to end up with him?I wasn't sure. I was in a good mood that morning. It felt like a heavy load had been lifted off my chest. I applied my creams and serums and was humming to the tone of the song playing from the MP3 in my room.My room. It sounded nice to me.I came out of the bathroom and took out a yellow off-shoulder blouse and a black pant from the closet. The blouse radiated pos

Alina…please,” Darren’s voice came through the door — low, gentle, almost… pleading. “I would stay here all night if that's what it will take for you to hear me out” I swallowed the lump in my throat. I hated how just hearing him made my heart twist. “I know I don’t deserve a second chance,” he said, “but I can’t keep living in a house where you look at me like a stranger.” I didn’t respond. “I didn’t plan for this to happen. You, me — this marriage,” he paused. “But when I realized it was you… I knew I couldn’t let go again.” I squeezed my eyes shut, willing my tears not to fall again. I knelt by the door. Hearing his voice and seeing as it was only the door that separated us made my heart ache. “Please,” he whispered, his voice barely audible. “Let me explain — everything.” I stood slowly. My hand hovered over the doorknob. Why was I hesitating? Because deep down, I wanted to hear what he had to say. I wanted it to make sense. I wanted to believe he hadn’t destroyed me on

  • Wrong bride to the right husband    Chapter 1 1(Discovery)

I met Miriam later at the waterpark I was volunteering at. She explained how she overheard Aria speaking with some hench men to abduct me on my way to their house, when she went looking for me at my parents house. The call and the nonsense about the Williams family were all orchestrated by her, in a means to get to me. I couldn't believe the extent she could go to just to remove me from the picture. “That was when I discovered a bit of what was happening and called you to warn you” she concluded I was looking at her like a little child who was being reprimanded by her mother. “Alina, I'm utterly disappointed in you. You hid such thing from me?” Miriam shot at me. I didn't want her to find out about all this marriage and stuff on her own. I wanted to be the one to tell her. “I'm terribly sorry, M” I wasn't sure if adding terribly, showed how sorry I was. “I didn't mean to hide it from you, I wanted everything to settle before informing you” I spoke like a criminal awai
