HUNTER'S P.O.V

The sound of my alarm jolted me awake; my head immediately ached.

It had only been an hour since I slept, and it was the best sleep I have had in days, since the break- since Vera

Vera.

Her final class must be over by now, that was why I set the alarm. That's why I'm still here, in school when I didn't need to be.

I reached for my phone on the dashboard to turn off the alarm, which was still ringing.

I sat straight, staring through the windscreen.

I was parked next

  • YOU WRECKED ME    FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART

VERA'S P.O.VI lay rigid in the dark, eyes open, counting the rings the way some people count sheep. Four. Five. Six. Ginger kitten was a tight, furious ball against my hip, claws half-extended, every muscle vibrating, equally sharing the same hatred I felt for that old black phone that belonged to another decade.I didn’t move until the seventh ring. After that, I stormed to get it, ripping the receiver to answer.“Vera, baby, please, I'm begging you, with everything I have.”And like I had expected, his drunken voice came through.“Stop calling, Hunter. Stop.” My whisper barely made it past my teeth.I could block him everywhere, on all my socials, my current phone, but never on this relic of a phone. It was the standard vintage basic corded landline phone and didn't have the built-in digital features to block numbers. Hunter has had this number for years. I'd grown attached to it, not wanting to do away with it for the same reason Mum never threw away any of her broken jewell

  • YOU WRECKED ME    HUNDREDS HURT

VERA'S P.O.V I shoved hard against his chest with both hands, fighting his crushing weight. On the second push, he stumbled back. I bolted upright, gasping for air as my fingers desperately clawed at my tender throat. Hunter stood there, breathing hard, his chest rising and falling. He stared at me with wide eyes, as if he had just woken up and only now realised what he had done. He did it again. He hurt me again. "You were hurting me.” He moved instantly, reaching out for me, but I flinched away, recoiling, wanting anything else but his touch. “I’m sorry… I didn’t know.” My fingers trembled against the sides of my neck, my nerves already completely shattered. “Vera,” he pleaded desperately. My head remained bowed, steadfastly refusing to meet his gaze. Without warning, his hands advanced toward me. They felt entirely foreign against my skin, feeling like they didn't belong. The hands of a man that had yet again hurt me. “I didn't know Vera…I swear I didn't,” his voice br

  • YOU WRECKED ME    TOO MUCH

VERA'S P.O.V“I’ve fucking missed you,” Hunter rasped. “God, I’ve missed you so much.”A soft, broken sound left me as I closed my lips around his thumb and sucked. He stepped in, crowding me backwards until the edge of the kitchen table bit into the backs of my thighs.I sucked harder, grabbing hold of his wrist while my tongue swirled over the length of him. He watched me intently, the muscles in his jaw tensing. It's been months of aching. Months of stealing glances at his hot fucking face in classrooms. Months since he sent me that typewritten note, telling me he wanted me in sinful ways. And now he's having me just how he wanted.I've been a short-tempered mess because my body remembered exactly what it felt like to be stretched around him, refusing to forget. That was why I’d been so fucking irritable. Irritable because I needed Hunter. I needed his hands, his mouth, his thick cock drilling between my legs until I couldn’t think. His thumb slipped free. Before I could drag

  • YOU WRECKED ME    TRUST ME

VERA'S P.O.V I stumbled twice on the way, heart slamming against my ribs as I tore through the apartment toward that agonising, high-pitched scream. Was Ginger Kitten hurt? Was Hunter hurt? I had to know. Worst-case scenarios flashed vividly through my mind, leaving a burning sensation in my eyes. What if Hunter had accidentally scared Ginger Kitten, making him scream like that? Oh god, please let them be okay. “Hunter!” I skidded into the kitchen, my gaze frantically sweeping the space over and over, desperate to detect anything out of place. Hunter wasn't where I had left him. He was crouched on the floor, broad back to me, and the sight only jacked my panic higher. God, please don't let it be ginger kitten’s corpse he's examining. I hadn't fed him in hours. “Hunter?” I called again. He turned. His shoulders flexed under the damp shirt. In his big hands was a wide-eyed, trembling ball of ginger fur. "You got a cat!” Hunter exclaimed excitedly. Relief forceful

  • YOU WRECKED ME    DEMONS

HUNTER’S P.O.VI held my hand out, expecting my phone.Instead, I caught Vera’s eyes, narrowed and fixed on the blue transparent tube in her hands.*Fuck me.*“Triptans?” She whispered, finally looking at me. I saw the worry settle on her face. I could hear it in her voice.God, I didn't want her feeling sorry for me.“They…they were prescribed to me, for the headaches.”“Headaches? Ibuprofen is for headaches…Hunter, these are for migraines,” she explained, as if I didn't already know everything about my own health.I stayed quiet, eyes locked on the road as I eased through another turn.*Left or Right Vera?*The tube remained in her hands while she turned it over, studying the label.“I don't understand; the accident was months ago…why do you still have them?” “I don't know. It's nothing,” I assured her.I went back to the hospital after leaving Mr Haven's office. A friendly doctor prescribed them. I’ve only taken one so far. The improvement was immediate—the raging pulse behind my

  • YOU WRECKED ME    FORCED PROXIMITY

VERA’S P.O.V Daddy had invited me to dinner again, but I wasn't falling for that trap again. I wasn't going back, especially since my parents were still going off at each other. Things hadn't gotten better, and after calling Mum several times and still not getting through to her, it made me a little worried. I was almost tempted to change plans and take an Uber to the Haven mansion. But Ginger Kitten was home alone, and I had to feed her. I had to get home first. As soon as Daddy knew I had refused to go home, he took off with McLaren, leaving me stranded, praying I could find an Uber in the area. When I checked out for the day, Hunter happened to be doing the same. He was trying to sign out while squinting at the sheet, stubborn about not wearing his new reading glasses, which were pushed up into his hair. I hadn't seen them on his face yet, and despite myself, I was quite curious to see how they looked. The frames were thin, silver-rimmed, and square. I was sure they would suit h

  • YOU WRECKED ME    WITH ELLIE

VERA'S P.O.V"Can you help me with this?" I panted, dragging my ridiculously large suitcase into the room.Ellie rushed towards me, holding onto the suitcase, immediately dispersing the weight between the two of us. We lifted it, carrying it across the room quickly and placing it in a corner."Tha

  • YOU WRECKED ME    FORGOT

VERA'S P.O.VI waited outside the lecture hall, and a moment later, Hunter came to join me.Without saying a word, he led the way out of the faculty building and onto the open campus grounds. As we walked, I couldn't help but wonder if this was all part of some elaborate plan to get me alone with h

  • YOU WRECKED ME    WHAT THEN?

VERA'S P.O.VHere I was, seated beside Hunter, discussing the future of our relationship, when he brought up the question.𝐼𝑓 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑎𝑑𝑑𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑠 𝑖𝑡, 𝑜𝑟 𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑝 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 ℎ𝑎𝑏𝑖𝑡, 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 ℎ𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑛?I watched him, my eyes didn't blink once, after asking his hopeles

  • YOU WRECKED ME    MASKED MAN AND MY MUM

HUNTER'S P.O.V(SIX MONTHS AGO)Birthdays are supposed to smell like cake and candles, but mine smelled like blood instead. "Ma, I'm home!" It was the day after my twenty-first birthday. My girlfriend, Vera, had planned a huge surprise party for me. Well, it wasn't much of a surprise because s
