Chapter 5

She found the towel wrapped snugly around her head before she could even react. She was completely numb with shock as she hid under the cover of the towel and didn't even dare to budge an inch. She remained in that awkward position on the floor and the only thing she could see were his long legs.

She was nervous and a little embarrassed to see that the legs didn't move at all, but she didn't dare to get up. Finally, the man moved away and before long she heard the rustling sounds of him throwing on his clothes.

Her head remained bowed even after he had walked back and pulled the towel off her.

The man looked down at her, clearly upset, but her phone in her bag suddenly rang before he could even speak. Her ringtone was bright and cheery, but it only made her feel even more embarrassed.

Yin Xiaoxiao immediately picked up the phone but her voice was slightly hoarse because of how hard she had been sobbing earlier. "Hello? Mom, are you looking for me? I'm not feeling well so I'm heading back to the campus."

She didn't want to speak to Li Meng so she tried to end the call, but Li Meng had never been an empathetic person. She yelled angrily over the phone, "Come back right now! I want you to give Uncle Zhang an explanation! Even your brother will not be able to protect you if you ruin our business deals!"

Yin Xiaoxiao's expression hardened and her grip instinctively tightened around the towel she was holding. She was no fool and immediately understood what Li Meng was plotting. She'd be a fool if she went to find Uncle Zhang! She retorted tartly. "Mom, I shouldn't be poking my nose into the family business. I'm sure my dad and brother will be able to handle it well so I'm heading back to the campus now since I'm feeling under the weather."

She immediately hung up on Li Meng without waiting for a response and turned off her phone. She didn't notice that the man who had crouched down in front of her had overheard her exchange with her stepmother.

She scrambled up to her feet and kept her gaze trained on the floor. She was so embarrassed that she didn't dare to look at him, so she said softly, "I'm really sorry. I wasn't aware that there was someone inside. I didn't mean to intrude..."

This was the first time Jing Liyuan had properly looked at this woman. He swore he would kill someone if this woman turned out to have been someone planted by his grandmother! He had already informed his family that he had a girlfriend, so why was his grandmother trying to interfere with his relationships? Did she think he didn't have enough going on already?

He still couldn't help but say as a precautionary measure, "You should forget whatever happened today. I won't take responsibility for you and I won't date you either."

A handkerchief appeared in front of her before she could react. "Wipe your tears with this. I am not someone who takes pity on women. You should get your facts straight before entering a room next time. Don't get lost," he said in his melodious baritone.

Yin Xiaoxiao found that she had accepted his checkered Burberry handkerchief before she even knew what she was doing and instinctively retorted. "You must be mistaken. I didn't mean to walk into your room. I entered the wrong room by accident in a moment of panic earlier."

Jing Liyuan threw on a white shirt and buttoned two or three buttons. His perfect physique was the sort that looked even slimmer when he was clothed, but when unclothed, his sculpted muscles would be revealed. He wore a simple pair of khaki pants which made his long legs seem even more elegant.

Jing Liyuan picked up a glass and took a sip of water. Then, he threw a sidelong glance at her and said with a hint a sarcasm, "Don't grab a man's towel without thinking next time."

Boom!

She immediately blushed furiously as though she had just eaten a chili pepper, and she felt like she was about to breathe fire.

Jing Liyuan continued to sip on his water leisurely. He felt much better when he saw that he had won the battle of words. His lips curved into a small smile and soon he was watching Yin Xiaoxiao rush out of his room. He even noticed the faint blush that had crept up to the tips of her ears.
