Chapter 6

Yin Xiaoxiao went home to collect some of her belongings before heading back to campus. However, she wasn't aware of what kind of troubles were lying in wait for her at home.

Yin Xiaoxiao immediately noticed that the house was full of people the moment she returned. She wasn't surprised to see so many people in the house because she had taken a bus home while the rest of them had chauffeurs. Moreover, there was no way the birthday party could have carried on after everything that had happened earlier.

"Yin Xiaoxiao, you're finally home! What happened to you? Who did you hook up with this time?" Li Meng said nastily. Yin Xiaoxiao's brows creased into a small frown but she ignored Li Meng and bent down to change her shoes.

"I'm warning you, please stop blackening the Yin family name in public. I know you are shameless but we value our reputation. Your brother is such an outstanding young man that he needs to command respect wherever he goes. If you continue ruining our reputation, don't blame us if we disown you!"

Yin Xiaoxiao's gaze swept across the room as she stepped into the house and saw that her elder brother and Yin Ziwei, her younger brother, were nowhere to be seen. Her parents and Yin Ruoyun were the only ones present.

She ignored them and said directly, "Dad, Mom, I'll be heading back to campus after I collect my belongings."

Yin Ruoyun approached her with a smile and Yin Xiaoxiao immediately knew that she was in trouble. After living with Yin Ruoyun and Li Meng since childhood, she instinctively knew when they were up to something and alarm bells went off in her head.

"Sis, why are you in such a rush to leave? I know you're upset but mom is worried about you," Yin Ruoyun said with a smile and even looped her arm through her sister's, casually brushing the place where Yin Xiaoxiao had been hurt earlier. A sharp pain shot down Yin Xiaoxiao's arm but Yin Ruoyun was all smiles as she said, "Mom and Dad had a discussion after we returned home. We'd like to give you a surprise."

Yin Ruoruo smiled innocently. She had behaved in this manner since she was a child and knew how to make herself seem very delicate and well behaved.

Yin Xiaoxiao knew what was hidden under Yin Ruoyun's facade of perfection. Yin Ruoyun was just a scheming bitch who was a great actress and could cleverly hide her true colors. Nonetheless, even though she knew Yin Ruoyun's true colors, she was helpless against her because Yin Ruoyun was the beloved second daughter of the Yin family.

Yin Ruoyun dragged Yin Xiaoxiao to her parents and said excitedly, "Dad, why don't you tell the good news to her? I'm sure she'll be happy to hear it."

Yin Baifan looked at his daughter, who looked nothing like the rest of his family. Perhaps this was because she took after her mother. No one had seen photographs of Yin Xiaoxiao's biological mother, but everyone knew that Yin Baifan was her father. It was also common knowledge that Yin Baifan wasn't fond of his daughter and disliked her intensely.

Thus, Yin Baifan didn't even bat an eyelid as he told the news to her. He said solemnly, "Xiaoxiao, after discussing it with your mother, we have decided to marry you off to Manager Zhang in a few days. This will make it easier for Ruoyun to get married as well."

This was the second time that day that Yin Xiaoxiao felt like a nuclear bomb had gone off in her head. Clearly, this was nothing compared to the blow she had been dealt earlier. This time, she could feel her entire world being smashed into pieces.

"Dad, do you even know what you're saying?" Yin Xiaoxiao asked as she stared incredulously at Yin Baifan. She knew that her dad didn't like her, but even then, she didn't think he would treat her marriage as a joke. "Are you asking me to get married... to Uncle Zhang?"

"What's wrong? Are you not pleased with our choice of the groom? Manager Zhang is a talented young man and even though he's in his forties, he isn't truly old," Li Meng said sarcastically as her smug smile belied her words. "Are you not aware of how bad your reputation is? Do you think you could truly land a man like Xiang Chen? You must be out of your mind!"

"I won't get married to Uncle Zhang no matter what you say!" Yin Xiaoxiao retorted. She ignored Li Meng and stared straight at her father as she expressed her dissatisfaction, "Dad, Uncle Zhang could be my father if he were just a few years older. Are you sure you want me to marry him? You're really going to sell your daughter so that Yin Ruoyun will be able to get married in peace and the Yin family can get some tiny gains?"
