On the second knock, the door opened. A woman appeared, silver hair pulled into a no-nonsense bun, square glasses perched on her nose, and a cat lounged around her shoulders.

She didn't look elderly, not quite. More like the kind of woman who could still hike a mountain or give a teenage boy a run for his ego in a denim contest.

"Can I help you?" Her tone wasn't unkind. The cat narrowed its eyes at me as though it had a badge and I was under arrest.

I blinked, snapping out of my daze. "Are you... Elizabeth Cheng?"

She eyed me for some time. "I am. Do you need something, child?"

Thank God.

Fortunately, she led me into her house when I explained I wanted to speak to her.

The cat hopped down and followed us like a furry bodyguard.

He living room was cozy with a modest size, but the decor tastefully done.

I glanced around for frames. Perhaps, family pictures. Steven did say she's never been married and didn't have kids, but maybe she only did a good job keeping that but from the public.

RALITwo days later, Steven got back to me with an update on Creighton. In his words: "Years ago, Creighton used to be a big name. Old money. He hosted flashy charity auctions where items were bid on. Your bracelet probably passed hands at one of those events. He supposedly keeps a private record of every item ever sold. But it's not public, Rali. Those records are locked in his personal collection. The only way to get that info would be to infiltrate his home or his trust. And either one would be a suicide mission.""You've done enough for me, Steven. I wouldn't want to trouble you any further," I'd told him. "Just send me his details, I'll handle the rest myself.""Are you sure, Rali? This man was and is still dangerous. I wouldn't want you going near him."Finding my family was more important at this point. I could take the risk. So, I convinced Steven to send me the details and then I told Veronica everything. She was surprised but happy that I had a hint on my family. She

RALIBut the way he looked at me... there was no storm in his eyes."Is this necessary now, Rali?" His eyes held a hint of amusement as he glanced back at the list. "You need to remind yourself why you must hate me. Does this mean a part of you doesn't hate me as much as you want, hence you are trying so hard to see reasons to?"My glare turned a degree colder. "Don't be ridiculous. I made that list so when I'm killing you, I'll remember what you're dying for."I stomped toward my dresser where I thudded my bag with more force than necessary.Frustration kicked in. "It's wrong, you know?" I hissed, spinning to face him with a hand planted on my hip. "To just break into people's homes. People have doors for a reason, and I don't appreciate you making a mockery of the digital door Veronica and I spent so much to install."He chipped away at the edges of a smile—the very one that knew how to crawl under my skin. "I didn't break in, Green. Don't blame me for being smarter than you

  • You Are Mine, Little Sister   Elizabeth Chen

RALIMum almost didn't want to leave.I'd spun a half-baked story—a bad hotel, lost phone, mix-up with Uber—anything but the truth about being abducted by the twelve year old boy that had given her a hard time sixteen years ago. Thankfully, neither Veronica nor Ruby had said a word to her about it. So, it made the lie easier to juggle. I couldn't believe she'd flown all the way from New Portland because she was worried. I could tell she wasn't entirely convinced and felt I was hiding something. But she left later in the evening after much persuasion. Ruby came over. And alone with the girls, I told them the truth. I had to. Their reactions were worse than I'd imagined. They almost looked like they'd lost their minds. Ruby blinked like she was trying to reboot her brain. "So, the whole time, the boy from the foster home is... Void? The Torturer?""The Torturer has been your stalker?" Veronica's eyes were wide. "No wonder he always had his way around things.""It makes sens

His hand found my waist and yanked me into him to meet his thrusts. I nearly choked on the pleasure of it.He continued jerking my hips to meet his every stroke. I wasn't sure how much longer I could hold back on screaming. I really needed to get him to stop. Shaking, I leaned down and did the one thing I might probably hate myself for for the rest of my life. I kissed him. This time, it wasn't him claiming me. It was my lips pressing hungrily to his.He didn't reciprocate but let me take all of it, and almost immediately, he stilled inside me, filling me with his cum. He growled low as he yanked my hair and took over the kiss. It was fast, wet, and fevered. To my dismay, it was enough to get me off my own edge. It felt like moments until he released my sore lips, his cock still buried between my legs. His forehead touched mine, our breaths tangled like our bodies had done."You know," he muttered. "I wouldn't mind if this is all I get to do for the rest of my damn life. You're my

Something shifted. The music around us seemed to dim, and his hold on me turned hard enough to hurt.He spun me again, and when I landed back in his grasp, he bent low and bit into the hollow of my neck. I sucked in a sharp breath but didn't dare move. "Know when to stop talking, Green," he growled into my skin. I held my breath until he pulled his face away from my neck. Once again, he looked like normal Void. Suddenly, he stopped the dance. "I want to fuck you." Woah! What an abrupt change of topic. "Right now."Before I could react, he uncurled one hand from my waist and grabbed mine, dragging me off the dance floor.Hell, no. "Where are you taking me?" I stopped walking. "Somewhere close." He reached for my hand again and this time, pulled me hard. I had to follow as there were too many people around and I didn't want to risk a scene. 'Somewhere close' turned out to be the restroom. To my dismay, he locked the main door, ensuring no one would be able to enter while we we
