Chapter 26

Su Kexin raised her gaze hastily and saw that Gu Chi was looking at her too. His gaze lowered slightly and fell upon her swollen chin.

It was such an eyesore.

Gu Chi immediately took a tube of ointment out of the first aid kit on the bedside drawer. He squeezed some of the contents onto his finger and applied it to Su Kexin’s chin.

Despite the cooling sensation from her chin, Su Kexin still looked at Gu Chi with some wariness, and she hesitated as she said, “How do you know Han?”

“You said his name in your sleep.”

Su Kexin blinked and remembered that she had dreamed of what had happened two years ago just now when she was unconscious.

A shadow fell across Su Kexin’s eyes, but before she could figure out how to respond, Gu Chi spoke again steadily.

“Su Kexin, I don’t care what happened to you in the past, but I hope you understand that you're my wife now. I don’t like it when my woman says someone else’s name.”

Even when Gu Chi said that, his tone was as cold and distant as ever. In Su Kexin's ears, though, it sounded inexplicably heavy, pressuring her.

The black eyes before her were especially suffocating. They looked calm, but they were bottomless and black. Su Kexin could not read the emotion underneath them at all.

By then, Gu Chi had finished helping Su Kexin apply the ointment. She lowered her gaze. "Thanks."

"No need to thank me." Gu Chi put the ointment away composedly. "I don't like seeing a mark someone else left on your body."

Su Kexin's body stiffened again.

Although she had not told him anything at all, it seemed like Gu Chi already knew everything.

When she felt the cool sensation of the ointment on her chin, Su Kexin suddenly realized that this man was far more overbearing and hard to grasp than she imagined.

"I know." Before she knew it, her palms were sweating. Su Kexin could only lower her head and reply softly.

"Go to sleep early." Gu Chi moved his wheelchair. "I'll sleep in the guest room tonight."

With that, he left the room without waiting for Su Kexin's reply.

Inside the room, Su Kexin lay alone in the soft covers, completely unable to sleep.

The next day.

Su Kexin was a lot more energetic now after the drip, so she decided to go to work anyway. When she got up and packed her things, though, she realized that her bag was gone, and there was a branded handbag in its place.

"Aunt Zhang." She just happened to see Aunt Zhang coming up to clean, so she asked, "Where's my bag?"

"Young Madam, your bag was ruined in the rain last night, so the Young Master had someone buy you this new one instead."

Su Kexin was instantly torn.

She recognized the bag Gu Chi bought her. It was from Chanel, a brand that cost tens of thousands. There was no way she could afford it on her salary. However, they had thrown her bag away, and she had no others, so she had no choice but to use this one after all.

After she went downstairs and had breakfast, Su Kexin was about to book a ride with her phone when Gu Chi suddenly said, "You're still sick. I'll send you to work today."

"There's no need for that." Su Kexin was starting to panic. "I can go alone…"

However, Gu Chi was already wheeling his chair toward the door. There was no room for discussion.

Dejected, Su Kexin just bowed her head and followed him into the car.

Thankfully, Gu Chi went to work a little earlier than she did, so there were not many people in the building when the Bentley arrived at her company. Su Kexin said a quick "goodbye" before jumping out of the car.

Gu Chi watched her back as she left, his eyes turning somewhat dark.

What was with her reaction? Was she that afraid of people finding out about their relationship?

Su Kexin had leaped out of the car too hastily, so she had not noticed the two gazes on her back at all.
