Chapter 2

Author: Noorie
Within seconds, two burly pack enforcers entered the chamber. Without a word, they dragged me out, ignoring the fresh blood staining my white gown, and threw me out through the back gates of the pack compound.

"By order of the Alpha, every luxury, every title, and every piece of clothing bought with Bloodmoon funds is forfeit. If you want to crawl back to your quarters..."

I wiped the dirt from my face, standing unsteadily on the gravel path. "Keep it. I want nothing marked by the Blackwood crest."

They took my coat, my shoes, and my comm-device. Because in a werewolf pack, everything belongs to the Alpha.

I began the long, agonizing trek down the mountain road in the freezing rain. Blood dripped down my legs, steaming slightly against the cold asphalt. Several pack members passed by in their trucks. A few kind-hearted omegas slowed down, pity in their eyes, but the trailing enforcers merely growled from their scout vehicle:

"The Alpha decrees banishment for anyone who aids her."

The trucks sped off, leaving me in the mud.

The lead enforcer rolled down his window, watching my shivering form. "The Alpha is merciful. He said if you return to the packhouse, apologize to Miss Elena on your knees, and agree to nurse her pup alongside your duties, he will let you ride in the back of the truck."

I didn't answer. I just kept walking, step by agonizing step, until the sun dipped below the horizon and the howling of the pack echoed in the distance.

By midnight, I reached the boundary of the old, abandoned pack house—the property that belonged to my birth family before Alieus expanded his land and merged their lands in alliance. I was the one who had convinced my parents of it, saying he would treat them like his own parents in the future.

The lights inside were off, the old wards flickering weakly.

I reached the iron gate and pressed my palm against the blood-lock.

Error. Access Denied.

I tried again, pressing harder until my skin bruised against the cold iron. The lock buzzed red.

The old pack beta, who had long shifted his loyalty to Alieus to save his own skin, walked out of the guard shack, looking at me with a mixture of contempt and pity.

"Give it up, Luna. The Alpha signed the annexation papers yesterday. This land belongs to the Blackwood main treasury now. No apology to Lady Elena, no entry."

He sighed, shaking his head. "Just swallow your pride. Your birth pack is gone. Your wolf is crippled. You’re past your prime, and you can no longer breed. The Alpha is keeping you as a secondary mate out of sheer charity. What exactly are you fighting for?"

"I don't want the land," I said, my voice eerily calm, cutting through his lecture. "I just want one thing.”

“Everything here belongs to Alpha Alieus. Just apologize to Lady Lyra and take whatever you want.” He replied like a loyal lackey to his new Alpha.

I clenched my fists as I said, “I only want the vault box the Lycan King sent me personally. The personal effects."

The moment he heard the Lycan King’s name, his expression softened immediately. A lackey like him would dare not offend a big name.

He then scoffed, disappearing into the guard shack. He returned a moment later, tossing a water-logged, rusted metal tin into the mud at my feet.

"Here. The Alpha's scouts already cleared it for dark magic or weapons. It’s just old paperwork. Now get off pack lands before I have to use force."

I knelt in the dirt, my frozen fingers trembling as I pried open the rusted lid. I didn't care about the gold or the old deeds. I pulled out the single, laminated parchment hidden beneath the false bottom.

It was an ancient, unbroken blood-lineage decree from the Lycan High King. It was because my father had served his court for years that the Lycan King felt the need to tell me a secret about a Blackwood crest pack no one ever knew.

It read. [The Blackwood Alpha lineage is genetically sterile.]

The scroll in my hands felt heavier than any mountain.

When the high shaman had slipped it to me back then, my world had shattered. I hadn't known how to tell Alieus the truth.

How could a man defined by toxic, lethal Alpha dominance ever survive the humiliation of knowing his bloodline was a dead end?

If our rival packs—the Ironclaw and Shadowtooth factions—ever discovered that the great Supreme Alpha Alieus Black was biologically incapable of siring an heir, they would have torn our borders down by nightfall.

But back then, the shaman had offered a desperate glimmer of hope. Only a female born of the pure Seer bloodline possessed a spiritual womb powerful enough to override his sterility and ground his spark. The only condition was to fast for a whole month to show her devotion towards the Moon Goddess.

"Lady Lyra, Alpha Alieus is a god among wolves, but without you, his legacy ends," the shaman had whispered. "In all my centuries, I have never seen a bloodline as spiritually fertile as yours. You are his only anchor."

I had chosen to bury that secret in the darkest corners of my soul. I starved for a whole month, losing my natural beauty, all to protect his lineage. I never imagined the day would come when I would use his own dark secret to slit his throat.

Using the last of my hidden personal resources, I channeled a minor tethering spell to replicate the ancient scroll a dozen times, binding the copies to messenger falcons. Each one was addressed to the Alphas of our deadliest rival territories.

"Fly fast," I whispered into the wind, releasing the birds into the storm. "Deliver these as a final tribute from the exiled Luna. I am certain they will reward you handsomely for the downfall of the Vance empire."

Julian, this is my final parting gift to you.

I hope it burns your throne to ashes.

The moment these words escaped their lips, Alieus took a sigh of relief. A half-confident laughter echoed in the banquet hall as he said, “Now I understand. You have all joined hands with Lyra to spread rumours against me and frame Elena, all because she is jealous of our happiness. Isn't it?” “Elena is right. Lyra must have set up this all.” He added. “Enough!” Suddenly, a loud voice echoed from the crowd. It was the High Summon. He stepped forward. “I would have let this matter slide if you wanted to live in delusion, Alpha Alieus. But, since you keep blaming Lady Lyra, who is the daughter of the late High Summon of the court, I can't stay quiet.” Just then, a scroll flashed through the screen with a royal stamp on it. It was the report of Alieus's sterility. Mentioned clearly, he could not sire an heir. He stared at the words, his face turning whiter by the second. "Impossible.""Nonsense. It has to be fake."He looked up, his voice almost out of control. "If I really am steri

The next second. The heavy oak doors at the back of the banquet hall groaned open. The Alphas of the rival packs and Alieus’s sworn enemies walked in, their faces laced with a mocking smile. “Alpha Alieus is so generous to call his army back from our territory just before announcing his union with his new mate.”“So, we have come here to thank Lady Elena personally. We have also brought a precious gift in return.”The moment Elena heard this, her eyes lit up. Alieus’s eyes darkened as he watched Elena drool over his enemy's words. But he didn't stop her. Between them, A man walked in wearing an Armor of Alieus’s sworn enemies' pack. Alieus's eyes narrowed. He recognized the man instantly. It was the same person Elena had introduced him to as her saviour and asked him to help him with gold and diamonds. “If Lady Elena hadn't helped me with the gold and diamonds, we would have lost the war ages ago. Thanks, Lady Elena, for helping even your Alpha’s enemies. You are truly very generous

Elena’s eyes flushed a vivid, panicked crimson. She looked completely terrified, her voice trembling violently as she scrambled to cover her mistake."Alieus... let me explain..."Her face was deathly pale, tears spilling over her eyelashes one after another."Luna Lyra’s mother was a high-class shaman, and if she wants my pup dead, there is no way anyone can save it. I just don't want anyone to be hopeful." She bit her lower lip so hard it bled, her voice choking up with feigned grief. "Luna has already begun spreading false rumours just because she is jealous of my pup. I can't let her ruin your image. It's better if I don't ever give birth to your pup, Alpha?"Alieus’s entire frame shuddered. The next second, his dominant instinct took over. He reached out, pulling her tightly against his chest."Elena, don't speak such madness," he commanded, his voice hoarse. "The pup is innocent."Elena trembled in his embrace, sobbing in ragged hiccups. Alieus’s heart wrenched at her distress,

Hearing my name, Alieus froze for a fraction of a second. Then his low growl dissolved into a mocking laugh."Lyra?" Alieus scoffed, his amber eyes flashing with dangerous amusement. “What black magic did she do to make you believe such nonsense, High Shaman?"High Shaman trembled, lowering his head. "Alpha, I swear on the Goddess—"Alieus cut him off, his voice dropping into a lethal, ice-cold register. "Is this her pathetic attempt to drive a wedge between Elena and me? To spread rumors through the pack so everyone thinks Elena's pup isn't mine?"He let out a sharp, bitter laugh."Go back and tell her that I don't buy her desperate mind games. Her tricks are so transparent they sicken me. If I’m so impotent, then tell me—how did she get pregnant? Did she magically conceive a bastard with a rogue?"High Shaman’s face drained of color. He reached for the medical charts, his hands shaking. "Alpha, the blood work... the silver-resonance test results show—"Alieus had completely lost his

Seeing the sudden stillness in my eyes, she let out a cruel, mocking laugh."Alieus said I was too fragile, too delicate to be exposed to his enemies while he was still struggling to build his army. So he let you play the public Luna while he gave his true loyalty to me."“He was so possessive of me back then that he went to beat the Lycan Prince for me after he shot just a glance over me. I wonder if he has ever done something as outrageous as this for you.”A violent tremor shook my entire frame. That night, I had begged everyone sitting in Lycan King’s court just to spare Alieus, for he was drunk. But it seems that the only person who was not in a state of seeing through right or wrong was not Alieus but me. My mate was fighting for his mistress while I was actually defending him. How foolish can anyone be as I was before? How could I not see through him before?Elena’s voice kept piercing through the fog of my shock, pulling me back to the horrific reality."And then you became pr

Anger and irritation flared in Alieus's s golden eyes.He stared down at me, his voice dangerously low but controlled."Break our bond? Never. Even if I no longer love you, you are my fated bond. I’ll never let you go."He leaned in, ensuring every syllable carried the weight of his Alpha aura."Lyra, I have given you nothing but respect. If I owe a debt of devotion to anyone, it is Elena. I couldn't grant her the title of Luna. Yet, she stayed by my side during the bloodiest years of the territory wars without a single official title."He turned away from me, dropping to one knee in the slush. Pulling a heavy, starlight-sapphire ring from his tunic, he looked up at her with profound reverence. It wasn't just an ordinary ring; it was a Blackwood crest artifact he once promised to give to me when I would give him a child. Seems like people’s hearts just change so fast."The laws forbid me from keeping another mate while I’m already bonded with someone, but I will give you the grandest c
