Chapter 2

Author: Flying Fingers
I opened my contacts with unsteady hands and pressed the first name on the screen—"Don Corleone."

Papa—Vito Corleone—picked up the phone almost immediately. He spoke in a gentle voice, marked by his distinct Sicerian accent and a trace of laughter. "Hey, Vittoria."

I pursed my lips before I gathered my courage and asked, "Do you think you can come to my school now, Papa? I—"

Papa sounded ecstatic on the other end. "You want me to go to your school right now? You must have won some commendation again! You're finally inviting me to your school to see you get an award! I'll be right there in half an hour, Vittoria!"

"It's not that, Papa…" I felt a sharp ache in my chest after hearing his reaction. I wanted to tell him that he had it all wrong, but at that exact moment, the distinct sound of a gunshot came through the phone. I then heard a shriek of pain, followed by several heavy thuds.

I froze, my grip tightening on the phone. I then barely caught a low-voiced command. "Get rid of the mess."

I could feel my heart hammering against my chest, terrified that he was in the middle of something life-threatening. I choked back what I was about to say. "It's fine, Papa. You should finish up what you're doing. I'll just collect the honors on my own. I'm in a rush, so I'll talk to you later, Papa."

"How could you hang up before they agreed to show up, Vittoria?" Ms. Pagani shrieked as she overheard me from the side, lunging to grab the phone out of my hand.

I reflexively dodged her attempt to grab it and swiftly hung up the phone.

It was then that I felt the stinging impact of another hand striking my face.

Ms. Pagani's face contorted with rage. "You committed a major offense, and you still have the nerve to keep it from your parents!"

Ettore punched the wall and pointed at me, yelling, "You ought to know that my father is considered a bigshot in this city! He's got connections in the city hall! If you lay a hand on Viola, he can wipe your family off the map in no time, Vittoria!"

Viola hobbled out of the infirmary, propping herself up against the door as she sneered at me. "You're such a coward that you don't even dare to call your parents! Your family must be absolutely dirt-poor! How a nobody like you had the guts to lay a hand on me is beyond me! How pathetic of you, Vittoria!"

I lowered my head, my voice barely a whisper as I said, "I'm sorry, Viola. I shouldn't have pushed you, but my parents truly can't make it. I'll give you a public apology in front of everyone, and I'll let you get even with me however you like, so please don't get the police involved in this matter."

Viola let out a contemptuous smirk, while Ettore lunged for my phone again, yelling, "Do you think you actually have a say in this?"

I held onto the phone for dear life as he lunged at me to snatch it again, scrambling backward. I ended up falling onto my knees, looking completely disheveled.

I slammed into the cold tile with a heavy thud, the sharp pain sending tears streaming down my face.

I remained on the floor, groveling and pleading for mercy. "I'm begging you, Viola. I'll do whatever you want—I'll apologize, I'll pay for everything, and I'll even allow you to hit me back. I'll do anything, so please don't get my parents involved."

I felt numb to the pain as I beat my head against the floorboards. I didn't stop until my forehead was a bloody mess, which was finally enough to make Viola smirk with satisfaction.

Viola reached out to stop Ettore. She then raised her voice, saying, "I suppose I can forgive you if that's the case, but I want more than an apology. I want you on your knees, crawling to me and barking like a dog—right in the middle of the graduation ceremony!"

"I'll do it," I replied, agreeing to her terms while digging my fingernails into my hands. I felt utterly degraded, but I didn't care as long as my fathers stayed safe. I was willing to do whatever she asked.

Viola, however, went back on her word before graduation ever came. She texted me to meet at our usual spot after classes were over.

I followed her instructions, and looking back now, it was the one thing I regretted more than anything else.

Viola wasn't alone in the alleyway—she had brought five or six of her lackeys with her, who fanned out in a semi-circle to back me against the wall. She looked like she had been crying, her eyes bloodshot and puffy. She then rasped, "Do you really think you're that attractive, Vittoria?"

I didn't have time to respond before she shoved a phone into my face. It was still on, displaying a message from Ettore. "I've had enough, Viola. I'm leaving forever, so please don't bother looking for me."

I saw the photo attached to the message, which showed a safety rail overlooking a cliff. There were a pair of sneakers, a school jacket folded with care, and a phone resting on top of it. There was the sea stretching out in a hazy gray at the bottom of the cliff, with white foam churning where the surf hit the boulders.

I stared at the photo, a sudden chill running down my spine. "Is this—"

"You can drop the innocent act now!" Viola barked, striking me so hard her nails left three bloody welts on my face. "Ettore is dead! He would never have jumped if you hadn't been stalking him and wouldn't leave him alone!"

I was absolutely dumbfounded, finding it hard to believe that Ettore was dead.

Three days had passed when I arrived at the school gates in a jet-black Lincoln limousine, noticing that aside from the wind, the surroundings were completely still. Those students and teachers merely stared at me with a combination of awe, terror, and a strange kind of jealousy. Cesare Sartori—my principal—hurried over, his beer belly bouncing as he jogged. He personally opened the car door for me and said with a fawning smile, "There were some oversights in our school's administration earlier, causing you some distress, Ms. Corleone." I was wearing a brand-new Hermes backpack and a bespoke Chanel outfit. I merely nodded politely at him, saying, "I would just like to study for my SATs in peace, Mr. Sartori."I walked directly into the school building after saying that, leaving behind Mr. Sartori, who was maintaining a respectful posture.I found a brand-new desk waiting for me, polished and pristine. I also noticed that my classmates, who had previously treated me like I was inv

In that instant, Enrico's face became paler than Mirthaven's midwinter snow, while Ms. Pagani's legs gave way, causing her to slump to the ground. I was shielded behind Papa's broad hand, cutting off the gazes watching from all around, while my other fathers stayed close to me as we moved through the dead-silent crowd.I was ushered into the lead stretch Lincoln, where Vittorio Mancini and Riccardo Costa, my 32nd father, were already seated. Vittorio answered a call as the car smoothly pulled away, speaking with mechanical coldness. "Go ahead and freeze all of the Bianco Famiglia's accounts and make sure he doesn't get to transfer any money."Riccardo slipped on his Bluetooth headset. He spoke quite softly, but I heard every word distinctly. "That mine is over the radiation limit? Great! Give the story to the biggest media platforms and let them investigate thoroughly. "I've already spoken to the Department of Education—Marianna Pagani is banned from teaching for life."I fina

In that instant, a deathly silence settled over the school gates.Ettore's hand, the one he had used to manhandle me, just hung there, paralyzed. His fury evaporated in a heartbeat, replaced by nothing but sheer panic and bewilderment.Enrico stood there, his face drained of all color until he was as white as the January snows of Mirthaven. He struggled to find his voice before whispering raspily, "W-Who are you people?"Papa walked toward them with slow, measured steps. Enrico retreated in sync with every step Papa took, as if compelled by some invisible pressure. He kept backing away until his back hit the side of the Maybach, his body going completely rigid.Papa stepped right up to him and stopped. He paid no attention to Ettore, focusing only on Enrico with a look that was eerily calm. "Mr. Bianco."Enrico swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing once."You've been illegally extracting rare earth minerals at your mine, and after the collapse last year that killed seven of yo

Papa insisted I head to school like any other morning the following day. "You should go ahead—and leave the rest to us, Vittoria."I nodded in assent, put on a long-sleeved uniform to hide the injuries on my arm, and left the house. I had just reached school when I spotted that flashy pink Bentley.Viola lounged in the back seat, touching up her lipstick using the rearview mirror, while her usual group of lackeys stood around her car, chattering endlessly. Upon seeing me approaching, Viola opened the car door and stepped out with a smirk playing on her lips. She then raised her voice so that everyone around could hear her, saying, "Oh my! Isn't this the slut who admitted to seducing Ettore? I can't believe you had the nerve to show up at school today!"Those around us started whispering among themselves, their stares clinging to me like a swarm of flies.I would have normally lowered my head and hurried away, pretending I heard nothing. I wasn't going to do that this time, though

There was a long pause before Papa crouched down. He wiped the bloodstain from my face with his calloused thumb, his voice low and heavy with rage as he asked, "Who laid a hand on you, Vittoria?"I averted my gaze, unable to face the fury in Papa's eyes. I then muttered, "I-I just tripped and fell.""You tripped and fell?" Vincenzo Molino, my fifth father, snatched my ruined textbook out of the mud. He then pointed to the dirty shoe prints on the cover, his voice trembling with fury while barking, "How is this considered a fall? They were fucking stomping on you!"Lorenzo Gallo, my third father, adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, looking at me with razor-sharp intensity. "You can just tell us the truth, Vittoria. I'll tear this city down and make sure none of them survive if you give me the word."I kept my lips tightly sealed, not daring to utter a word. I couldn't bring myself to say it since Ettore had too much money and influence; I couldn't possibly risk my fathers' safety for

  • You Sure You Wanna Bully a Mafia Principessa?   Chapter 4

I held my breath and used every ounce of strength I had left to roll over and crawl toward the door. It wasn't shut all the way, so when I looked through the gap, I saw two figures in the hallway—one was Viola, and the other was actually Ettore.Ettore was standing there looking completely normal in a crisp white T-shirt, a cigarette dangling from his lips. He was very much alive. He wasn't dead.Ettore's voice drifted in, sounding a bit anxious. "You handled her pretty roughly, don't you think? You don't think she's actually going to die or something, right?"Viola let out a scornful laugh. "What's the worst that could happen? That bitch is tougher than she looks, Ettore. I wasn't trying to kill her—I was just teaching her a lesson.""What about that photo, then?"Viola replied nonchalantly, "I had someone take care of the photos. I just had someone leave an outfit on a cliffside and snap a picture—done. "Your father has connections at the police station, so just get them to re
