Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Nameless
And I looked exactly like him.

An idea struck me, and I stopped struggling.

Being away from home had been boring enough. Now that some entertainment had practically fallen into my lap, why not have a little fun?

So I went along with it and let them take me back to the Sterling family home.

Victoria noticed that I was distracted, and the anger on her face deepened.

She suddenly shoved me away. I staggered a few steps before hitting the cold wall behind me.

“Looks like you really won’t listen until you’re pushed to the brink.”

She pulled out her phone and made a call right in front of me.

“Freeze every bank account and credit card under Wesley Hart’s name. Effective immediately.”

I couldn’t hear what the person on the other end said, but Victoria gave a cold snort.

“Yes. Every single one. Let’s see how bold you are when you don’t have any money to rely on.”

She hung up and looked at me like I was nothing more than an ant, clearly waiting for me to panic and beg.

Too bad for her.

I leaned against the wall and slowly straightened up.

I’d never used a single one of the cards she’d given me.

I always paid for everything with my own accounts.

Victoria probably never would have imagined that the Sterling family, which she was so proud of, wasn’t even much of a cage in my eyes.

My calmness only infuriated her further.

“Someone come in!”

She shouted toward the door.

“Take him to his room! No one lets him step outside until I say so!”

Two bodyguards immediately entered and grabbed me by both arms.

I didn’t resist.

But as I passed Victoria, I stopped and turned my head toward her.

In a voice only the two of us could hear, I quietly said, “Victoria Sterling, you’re going to regret this.”

Her pupils suddenly contracted.

I smiled and let the bodyguards lead me upstairs.

I was locked in the room with nothing to do but scroll through my phone.

I was looking at the latest quarterly financial report from my sister Audrey Caldwell’s company.

The numbers looked good. Apparently, she’d been working pretty hard while I was away.

Not long after, there was a soft knock on the door, followed by the sound of a key turning in the lock.

I looked up to see Ethan walking in with a plate of fruit, a gentle smile on his face that reminded me of a winner basking in his victory.

“Wesley, Victoria’s just angry. Don’t take it personally.”

He placed the fruit on the table and sat down beside me with a deliberately familiar air.

“She froze your cards, but I immediately went to talk to her. Still, you have to admit, you went too far this time.”

I couldn’t be bothered to answer. My eyes returned to my phone.

He didn’t seem bothered by my indifference and continued talking, a hint of smugness and nostalgia creeping into his voice.

“You weren’t like this before. The old Wesley was always so gentle and obedient.”

He picked up a grape and slowly peeled it.

“Back then, I could tell everyone that your designs were garbage, and all you’d do was stand there with red eyes, too scared to even argue back. It was pretty amusing.”

He held the peeled grape up to my mouth, smiling warmly.

“Nothing like you now. You’re covered in thorns. It’s not nearly as charming.”

I finally looked up and met his hypocritical gaze.

“Get lost.”

Ethan’s face immediately stiffened, but he quickly returned to his innocent expression.

He stood up, his eyes turning red.

“Wesley, how could you say that to me? I was only worried about you…”

As he spoke, he slowly backed toward the doorway and the stairs.

“What did I ever do to you? Why are you treating me like this?”

His eyes glistened with tears, as though he’d suffered some terrible injustice.

I scoffed, about to call out his pathetic acting, when he suddenly reached toward me as if he wanted to grab me.

I instinctively leaned back, avoiding his hand.

But Ethan suddenly acted as though I’d shoved him with all my strength.

He cried out and went tumbling down the stairs.

Julian calmly closed the door.My sister said nothing. She simply nodded at us before turning and heading downstairs to deal with the aftermath.Julian and I exchanged a look, both of us seeing the same sense of relief in each other’s eyes.A month later, I found myself standing once again in the heart of the city’s central business district. The two gilded words “Sterling Group” that had once towered over the top floor were being slowly removed by a crane. They swung through the air in a lonely arc before finally being tossed into a scrap truck. In their place were several brand-new letters:“Caldwell Global Center.”Julian stood beside me. He was dressed in a sharp white suit, his short hair neatly styled, his eyes clear and resolute.Together, we stood in the executive office that had once belonged to Victoria, looking down through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows at the bustling city below.“From now on, this is your design headquarters.”I handed him a glass of champ

My sister’s expression darkened. She was about to step forward when my phone suddenly vibrated. It was a message from Julian.Just two words:Come upstairs. My sister and I exchanged a look, walked past the mother and daughter, and used our key cards to enter the building. When the elevator doors opened, the door to Julian’s apartment was slightly ajar.I pushed it open and found him sitting quietly on the couch. On the coffee table in front of him was a tablet pointed toward the door. Its screen displayed the back end of a live stream, and the number of viewers had already surpassed a million. So he’d planned this from the beginning.“Someone like her won’t give up until you strip away the last shred of her dignity.”Julian looked up and gave me a calm smile. There was a cold, ruthless determination behind it.Sure enough, the security guards downstairs hadn’t been able to stop Victoria’s desperate attempt to get upstairs. Somehow, she’d managed to force her way up and was n

He had fallen from the top straight into the gutter.Even more interesting was the Sterling family’s reaction.Three hours after the scandal began to spread, the Sterling Group posted a statement on its official website, expressing shock and regret over Ethan’s personal conduct and announcing the immediate termination of all business dealings with his studio. After that, my phone and Julian’s private work number became a confession hotline for the Sterling mother and daughter.I didn’t answer a single call.Victoria sent me hundreds of messages in a row.I didn’t reply. She turned to Julian instead.“Wesley…No, Mr. Prescott. I know I was wrong. Ethan deceived me. Sophie has already kicked him out, and we have nothing to do with him anymore. Please, just give me a chance to apologize to you in person.”Sophie’s performance was even more ridiculous. She sent dozens of voice messages, sobbing and rambling about how sorry she was and how she had given Ethan a harsh lesson. She s

“You need a stage,” my sister said.“I’ve already got one.”Julian smiled as he opened his tablet. The screen displayed an invitation that had just been released online.“International Designer JP: New Collection Launch and Copyright Statement.”JP was Julian’s anonymous professional identity, the name under which he had risen to international fame. The name had become synonymous with creativity, innovation, and mystery. He had never shown his face publicly, making JP something of a legend in the design world. And Ethan had openly said more than once that JP was the designer he admired most. How ironic.“The event is tomorrow at ten in the morning.”Julian looked at me.“Nathan, a financial attack is a slow knife. It’ll hurt them, but it won’t bring them down overnight. My knife needs to be fast and precise. I want to drive it straight into Ethan’s heart with one strike.”I understood exactly what he meant.A financial collapse needed time to unfold, but reputations could b

She nodded and drove in a different direction.Eventually, we arrived at the underground parking garage beneath the headquarters of the Caldwell Group. We took a private elevator straight to the top floor. My sister pushed open a hidden door inside her office, revealing a more private lounge behind it.A man in a sharp white suit stood with his back to us in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out at the city below.Hearing the door open, he slowly turned around. His face was both familiar and strange. His features were almost identical to mine.It was Wesley Hart.He walked toward me with a faint smile.“Thanks for doing this, Nathan.”“No problem.” I shrugged. “I just played the part too well. They got so deep into the role that they nearly sacrificed me as the stand-in.”My sister looked at the two of us and said solemnly, “Julian, I’ve already revealed Nathan’s identity to the Sterling family as planned. It’s your turn now.”Julian.Julian Prescott. That wa

Sophie and Ethan were completely stunned as well, staring at me as though they were looking at a ghost.Just then, the front door of the mansion was kicked open from the outside.More than a hundred bodyguards in black suits and sunglasses flooded into the house like a tide, taking control of the entire mansion within seconds.Nora led the group and walked straight toward me, bowing respectfully.“Mr. Caldwell, we’re here to take you home.”I nodded and casually glanced at Victoria and Sophie. Then I pulled my government ID from my pocket and tossed it onto the coffee table in front of Victoria.Under Name, it clearly read: Nathan Caldwell.Victoria stared at the ID on the table. The shock and fear in her eyes were unmistakable.Sophie looked even paler. She stumbled back a step and murmured,“Nathan Caldwell… from the Caldwell Group… No way…”Just then, the bodyguards standing on either side suddenly bowed in unison, clearing a path.A woman in a designer suit walked into
