True identity

"We need to talk," I stated firmly as I confronted Nathan in his office. He rose from his seat, regarding me with a hint of amusement.

"Well, well, well, who do I have here," he remarked. "What do I owe this visit, Mr. Harmon?"

"I want you to let my wife go," I insisted, my voice steady despite the tension in the office.

Nathan's expression hardened as he responded, "Like I said before, that won't happen. I will never let her go back to you. After all she went through in your hands and your family's hands, you want me to let her go back to you? That will never happen. You never treated her like a man would treat his woman. You treated her like a nobody. After she managed to leave you alive, you want her back. I think you're after her life now," he accused, turning his back and returning to his seat.

I stood there, grappling with his words.
