The next few days at the mansion were rather quiet. Sarah neither said a word, nor went out of the bedroom. She took a lot of time reflecting on the events that had brought her life to the position that it was currently.He claimed that he wasn’t holding her hostage and that she could go out anytime, but the moment she stepped out of the room there were people following her around.He always seemed to be there. She wondered if he even had a job with all the free time he seemed to have available. When Aldo wasn’t with her, there would be a maid or bodyguard keeping close watch. These days she can’t even take her bath alone. All this surveillance and she hadn’t even left the room. The whole gun incident was a rather humbling experience for Sarah. She learnt that she lacked the will to hurt Aldo. And the fact that at that moment he still managed to comfort her weighed on her heart. She wasn’t stupid, just torn. Torn between what her heart wanted and what she knew was right. She should have fired the gun. She should not have glanced at him a second time. Although she knew what type of person Aldo Accardi was, she kept making excuses for him in her heart. The sun rose to its glorious shine over the Accardi mansion. The chef in the kitchen worked extra hard to have breakfast ready on time. Old Maria had been watching each movement closely. With an inaudible sigh, he calmed himself down as he decided how to deal with the little woman in his bed. “Hey there, sleeping beauty.” he said in a low husky voice as he stalked towards her. “I’ve thought about it.” She said coldly, in a voice so low and strained, it made his heart ache. “About what love?” he asked, battling the urge to give in to her every whim. “A good reason. It’s the third day, today. I have a reason.” He took a minute to understand her words but it soon became clear to him what she was talking about. “OK, then why don’t you tell me about it over dinner? Do you want to go out? There is this beautiful restaurant by the lake. You’ll love it.” She didn’t reply. Not because she didn’t want to go out, but because she didn’t want to give him a chance. She had been searching for routines, patterns in his behavior. Every day on her little promenade, she was actually looking around for exits and trying to find out when it would be safest to make a run for it. Soon enough, she had gathered enough information about the security system to make a move.
