The world moved in slow motion as the SUV tilted precariously toward Monaco's harbor. Through the splintering windshield, the dark Mediterranean waters waited to claim them.

Sonia felt Alex's body curl protectively around hers, his warmth a shield against the inevitable impact. The scent of his cologne mingled with the acrid smell of burning rubber and fear.

"Hold on!" James shouted from the front, wrestling with the steering wheel as the vehicle teetered on the harbor's edge.

The sound of grinding metal filled the air as the SUV's tires fought for purchase on the slick pavement. For one heart-stopping moment, they hung suspended between land and sea, fate undecided.

Then the engine roared, tires gripped concrete, and James yanked the vehicle back from oblivion with mere inches to spare.

"Everyone alive?" David called out, already checking Eliana for injuries.

Geneva's perfect composure had finally shattered completely, her manicured hands trembling as she brushed glass fragments from

The sleek convoy of black SUVs wound its way along the narrow roads hugging Lake Como, the water's surface reflecting the late afternoon sun like scattered diamonds. In the lead vehicle, Alex sat beside Sonia, his hand still clasped in hers as though it were a lifeline. James occupied the seat across from them, his expression somber as he studied a tablet containing the schematics of the DuPont summer house—or what was officially documented of it.Behind them, Geneva, Eliana, and Franco followed in the second vehicle, along with a team of security personnel and medical staff equipped with the precious counter-agent. They had managed to synthesize twenty additional doses during their brief stopover, but it was a mere drop in the ocean compared to what they would need."We're five minutes out," the driver announced, his voice carefully professional.Alex nodded, then turned to Sonia. "Are you sure you want to come inside? This isn't your fight."She gave him a look that silenced him ins

The message from Elisabeth flashed on the screen, its red letters casting an ominous glow across their faces."Contingency Omega?" Sonia repeated, her voice tight with dread. "What does that mean?"Geneva moved to the communications panel with surprising speed, her fingers flying across the keyboard. "It means Marcel had a failsafe. If he was ever captured, he could remotely activate all subjects who'd been given the Lazarus protocol.""How many people are we talking about?" Alex demanded, already reaching for his phone.Eliana answered, her face ashen. "Hundreds. Maybe thousands. People in positions of power across twenty-seven countries. Each one programmed with specific instructions to execute if this signal was sent."The jet's cabin, previously tense but controlled, erupted into urgent activity. Franco opened the case containing the counter-agent, revealing only twelve remaining vials."Not nearly enough," he said. "We need to mass-produce this immediately."Alex stepped away to

The Rodriguez private jet cut through cloud cover, its luxurious cabin now a makeshift war room. Six hours had passed since DuPont's arrest, and the group had retreated to neutral territory—thirty thousand feet above the Atlantic.Eliana sat beside Franco, their hands intertwined after years of separation. Across from them, Geneva occupied a single seat, her posture rigid despite her apparent victory. Alex and Sonia faced each other at the small conference table, documents spread between them, while James stood by the window, watching the endless blue horizon, his face unreadable."The board has frozen all DuPont Industries assets pending investigation," Alex announced, setting down his phone. "Elisabeth is cooperating fully. Forty-one of the forty-three affected individuals have been located and treated with the counter-agent.""And the other two?" Sonia asked."Missing," Alex replied grimly. "High-level government officials who disappeared from their scheduled itineraries within the

Eliana Martinez had awakened sixteen minutes before Geneva's monitor detected her altered vital signs. The penthouse suite, for all its luxury, was unmistakably a prison. Thick curtains blocked the windows, and the elegant furniture couldn't disguise the electronic locks on the doors. She sat perfectly still on the edge of the bed, eyes fixed on the man standing across from her."You look remarkably calm for someone in your position," Marcel DuPont observed, swirling amber liquid in a crystal tumbler."This isn't the first time men have underestimated me," Eliana replied, her voice steady despite the fear coursing through her veins. Twenty years in academia had taught her to mask vulnerability. "I assume this is about Project Lazarus."DuPont's eyebrow arched slightly. "So you do remember. How fascinating.""Some things cannot be forgotten, Marcel, no matter how deeply you try to bury them." She glanced toward the door where two guards stood. "Carlos warned me this day might come.""C

The bunker descended into chaos after DuPont's departure. Franco paced frantically, his face contorted with fear for his wife. "We need to find her location immediately.""How could Mother be involved in Project Lazarus?" Sonia demanded, her world tilting on its axis. "All these years, she never said a word."Geneva approached her, compassion softening her normally stoic features. "Your mother was brought in specifically because of her ethics background. She was meant to be the conscience of the project.""And the counter-agent?" Alex asked, arm still around Sonia's shoulders."Eliana helped develop the neurological framework," Geneva confirmed. "When she discovered Marcel's intentions to weaponize the research, she and Carlos created a failsafe."Elisabeth, still processing her own betrayal, spoke up. "That explains why our attempts to perfect the long-term stability have failed. The original research was deliberately modified."James turned to her sharply. "You're saying DuPont knew

In the underground bunker, time seemed to freeze. Alex stared at his mother, his mind struggling to process DuPont's words."Sister?"he repeated, looking between Geneva and Marcel DuPont. "He's your brother?"Geneva's posture remained rigid as she faced her sibling. "Half-brother. Same father, different ambitions.""You always did have a flair for understatement," DuPont remarked, stepping fully into the bunker with Elisabeth close behind. His security team remained at the threshold, weapons ready but not raised. "Twenty years of hiding, and that's your greeting?""What would you prefer?" Geneva asked coldly. "A family reunion dinner to celebrate how you've corrupted our father's research?"Sonia moved closer to Alex, feeling his body tense beside her. She slipped her hand into his, a silent reminder of their vow to face everything together."Our father," DuPont corrected, walking casually toward the laboratory equipment, "created Project Lazarus to heal broken minds. You and your hus
