Chapter One
I sat in the passenger side of my mother's all black Hyundai Sonata, listening to the rain hit the roof of the car.“Sorry Honey, I had to grab my wallet.” My mother apologized as she climbed into the driver side and strapped in her seat belt.“If you are going to the store for just boxes, why do I have to go too?” I complained as I leaned my head against the chilling window. It was not yet cold outside. With it only being September and still warm out, we knew the air conditioner was still necessary, which left the car feeling like winter."Well, I may need your help carrying some supplies Aniyah. Besides, I like the company." She offered me a smile. As we drove through the Philadelphia streets, I could not help but stare at the scenery I had become so familiar with. It was strange. It was disappointing knowing that this may be the last time I would see it all.We were moving. As my mother would say, we were offered ‘better opportunities’ in anoth

Chapter Two
“Niyah, I hope you are up because I don’t want to be late.” I heard my mom yell from the other side of the bedroom door.“Yeah, I’m up.” I lied; pulling the covers from over my head.“Hurry up.”After finding the power to stand, I dragged myself to the bathroom to shower and dress for the day.In a hurry, I picked up the first outfit I found.A tan button-down blouse, a pair of high waist jeans, and my tan moccasins that offered me some comfort.I grabbed my small makeup bag along with a few hair products. Pulling myself up to the mirror, I began applying eye liner and mascara; a few simple makeup additions before I pulled my curling hair into a messy bun. Finally, I was done and ready to go.Grabbing my bag from my desk chair, I ran down stairs.“You got five minutes.” My mother tapped the face of her watch before she picked up her car keys. “I’m starting the car.”"You got five minutes." I mocked after she was safely out

The school had managed to go by quicker than I thought it would. Before I knew it, the weekend was here."HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HONEY!" My mother woke me from my joyous dream.I reached for my phone to check the time. 7:45am?"You couldn't have waited until at least ten-thirty to wake me up?" I groaned, tossing the plush blankets back over my head."Fine, then I will eat this vanilla frosted lemon cake myself.""I'm up, I'm up." I popped up; my hands rubbing vigorously over my eyes."Come down, I made breakfast.""Okay." I quickly slipped on a pair of shorts and a top, picked up my phone, and made my way down the stairs. The idea of my mom making me her famous breakfast always put a smile on my face. Her famous cheese eggs, pancakes topped with a fruit syrup, and maple syrup bacon. The scent took me by surprise once I walked into the kitchen."Mmmmm." I groaned; droll nearly slipping through my lips.Anxious to eat, I

I ran from the bathroom before I found my buzzing phone. Who is call from a blocked number? I could only wonder as I answered it."Hello.""HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Someone screamed through the phone."Jess?""One and only. What are you doing? You can't call anybody anymore?" She immediately questioned."I'm sorry; I've been too busy adjusting here."I understand. So, what are you doing?""Getting ready to shower for later.”"Uh what's later?" She questioned. "Well I'm going to a party tonight with a school friend, nothing major.""Out there trying to shake your ass huh?" She joked. "I cannot wait to come visit you.""I know, I miss you too. When are you coming?""I'm free in a few more weeks. By then, I'll have the money to catch a plane out there.""Great. So we can catch up on everything.""Yesss.” She expressed. “ Well, I'm going let you get ready. Have fun and be safe. Love ya."Ok,

Achy pain pinched my sore knee and elbow. I groaned out.Even though my eyes were still shut tightly, I could still feel the sun's warmth against my skin. Moving away from the light, I rolled over.Plush and soft, I wrapped the blankets around me to hide from the cool, circulating central air. My face hidden, I inhaled the warming scent of the fresh cotton and uncanny perfume that comforted me.Wait.Where the hell am I?I pulled the blanket back from over my face; my eyes fighting the light in hopes of seeing where exactly where I was.I sat up.Bad idea.Last night was definitely disagreeing with me this morning.I dropped back down onto the mattress and grabbed my throbbing head.Trying it again, but slower, I sat up.With less pain throbbing from my head, I looked around once more in hopes of obtaining a clue to where I was.Keira’s room?My expectations of what her room looked like were d

JASON_ "If you assholes don't come on, I'm not going." I yelled up the stairs as I flopped down onto the couch."Oh relax, we're ready." Aaron assured as he ran down the steps. He slapped my shoulder. I let out a threatening growl which informed him I was not up for the dumb shit tonight.Aaron was the beta of my pack, the Black Water tribe and the mate of Keira, my sister. However, I reminded him I would not hesitate to rip his throat out."Why so tense Jason? Maybe a little action tonight from one of the lovely ladies at the club will ease some stress." Aaron always assumed a woman would satisfy me after a bad day.Especially since I did not have my mate.

More classes. The girls and I talked about a lot of things, however I refused to tell anyone about what happened between Jason and I.It was now the Friday, and I was ready to start the weekend off with something that did not consist of schoolwork.Carnival Keisha suggested something fun."What did you say their parents did again?” My mother questioned as she pulled up the long driveway that led onto their acres of land.“Their mom is, and their dad owns a few businesses in town.”“Wow.” My mother seemed extremely fascinated by the large manor that sat in the center of their property.Honestly, who
