Chapter Five

Achy pain pinched my sore knee and elbow. I groaned out.

Even though my eyes were still shut tightly, I could still feel the sun's warmth against my skin. Moving away from the light, I rolled over.

Plush and soft, I wrapped the blankets around me to hide from the cool, circulating central air. My face hidden, I inhaled the warming scent of the fresh cotton and uncanny perfume that comforted me.

Wait.

Where the hell am I?

I pulled the blanket back from over my face; my eyes fighting the light in hopes of seeing where exactly where I was.

I sat up.

Bad idea.

Last night was definitely disagreeing with me this morning.

I dropped back down onto the mattress and grabbed my throbbing head.

Trying it again, but slower, I sat up.

With less pain throbbing from my head, I looked around once more in hopes of obtaining a clue to where I was.

Keira’s room?

My expectations of what her room looked like were definitely put to rest. Her normal bad girl attire definitely did not match the green painted walls and white curtains. Those distressed jeans and boots did not match the white wall to wall carpet and the sky blue sheets and pillows.

Wow, someone is all about nature huh?

I looked down at myself, analyzing every aspect of my body to make sure I avoided any bruises from last night. On my arm, was a red mark that was left from Keira’s sturdy grip.

Damn that girl.

I quickly noticed my purse on the night stand. Digging through it, I found my travel flats.

After bracing myself for the stand; my feet flat on the floor, I stood up slowly in hopes of beating that queasy feeling.

Reaching down, I picked up my heels before I grabbed my purse and stepped out of the room.

I followed the corridor to a set of stairs that led down to the entrance way. As I neared the bottom, I could not help but acknowledge the little whispers that flooded from a nearby room.

“Maybe you are crazy.” I heard Kiera’s voice.

“Keira, I know she is. Who else would I be feeling?” A male’s voice responded annoyingly. His voice was deep yet low and calm unlike Keira’s voice.

“Look, is a friend of mine.” She exhaled. “I just don’t want you to scare her. Maybe you can take things slow. Very slow.”

“No.” I heard his simple, cold response that sent a shiver circulating up my spine.

“Fine asshole. But if you do something stupid, I swear-“ She cut herself off. “Niyah?”

Oh Shit.

I slowly entered the room; my head low to hide the embarrassment that came with ease dropping on what seemed to be family matters. Taking a deep breath, I looked up to not only find Keira but the male she was talking to as well.

The guy who was staring at me at the club last night?

I stared at him; my eyes glued to his charm before I shifted my eyes back down to the floor when he begin to grin at me.

Wow. Is he really caressing me with his eyes?

I began to remember how the night went. How this man nearly hospitalized a guy for no reason.

"Hey, um can-can you give me a ride?" I questioned a silent Keira.

"I can give you--" The guy began to say.

"No I'll give you a ride." Keira cut in before he could finish his statement.

She reached down to the grab her keys from the table before he grabbed her arm to stop her. His face frowned up when he looked into her eyes.

Okay.

Staring at one another for a moment, Kiera sighed almost defeated as she looked away.

"Aniyah, do you mind if my brother gives you a ride?" She glared at him. "I have a few things I need to tend to."

Of course I mind. Who the hell is he?

"No its fine with me." I lied through my teeth.

"Great.” His eyes still peering through Keira’s, a smile stretched across his face. “My car is in the garage.”…

Silence had overtaken the car. Silence that made a smooth ride quite uncomfortable.

Jesus, turn on the radio.

"I'm Jason by the way." Finally breaking the silence he introduced himself, even when I did not care to ask or know.

However, the sound of his voice was quite appealing.

"Hi." I responded a little coldly. Keeping my head back, and eyes closed, I opted for more silence.

"So, where are you from?"

"Philadelphia." I wanted to keep this conversation short and simple so I thought short worded answers would work.

"So you like it here so far?"

"I guess."

Suddenly, he stopped vehicle hard enough to send me on the dashboard if it wasn’t for my seatbelt. I swerved over, pulling onto the side of the road before he shifted the car into park.

"What the fuck!!" I snapped.

He was staring at me now.

"Here's the deal, you answer my questions with a little more enthusiasm, the faster you get home." He clarified, smiling as if we were running on his clock.

Fool.

"Sounds good but I have a better idea." Leaning over the arm rest, I whispered ever so gently. "How about if you move this car in the next few seconds, and I won't have a reason to tazz your ass."

"Feisty." His eyes roamed across my frame.

Oh great! He's eye fucking me again.

I watched his eyes. Light green pools seemed to transition under the sun light as they roamed. Before I could take it in, he turned away from me. Exhaling a heavy breath, he shifted the car into drive before he pulled off.

I guess I win.

An exhilarating feeling of relief took over me once we pulled up in front of my home. Desperate to end this awkward situation, I grabbed my shoes and purse.

"Thank you." I reached for the door handle to exit.

Without warning; without even a notice, I was pulled back into the car and greeted with a heavenly yet uninvited kiss to my lips.

I wanted to stop him. I wanted to scream and shout at him. I wanted to shove my foot up his ass however it was hard to deny how pleasant the contact was.

Oh god, even his lips felt sexy.

Dominating our contact, his lips pressed against mine more aggressive than before. Our contact seemed almost electrifying as waves circulated through my body. I could feel his tongue extend. I could feel his desperate attempts to gain entrance into my mouth as his hands began to roam so freely down my shoulder until it reached the lower part of my back.

He groaned against my lips as he struggled to deep the kiss.

Then it hit me.

What the hell am I doing?

"Stop!" I snapped back into reality before I pushed him away.

With a tall and firmly built physique, it was almost impossible to move him easily on my own.

He backed away from me. His eyes examined me momentarily. I was left sitting there in front of him, speechless and unsure what to do or even say about what had just happened.

I did what my reaction told me to do.

I punched the shit out of him.

I watched as his facial expression went from lust to pure shock before he gripped his chin. Soon his face softened before he smiled as if my power punch did not even affect him.

Pretending to be disgusted by this confrontation, I quickly exited the vehicle. Slamming the car door shut, I searched my purse for my house keys. Fucking pig I walked up the pathway to the front entrance way.

“We can do this all day.” I heard him yelp out of the car’s window.

I pushed open the door before I slammed it closed behind me. It wasn’t until then that I heard the car pull off down the street.

Exhaling slowly, I tossed my keys onto the table before I scurried up to my bedroom.

What the hell is wrong with him?

What the hell was wrong with me?....
