“Angel, I don’t think it will go up.”  “It has to!” Cara cried, sucking in her breath as tears fell down her face in frustration. Archer had been trying to do the zip up on the back of Cara’s dress for ten minutes and it still wasn’t budging. Cara was six months pregnant and it was showing well. But at the same time, none of her clothes would fit her swelling frame. They were already ten minutes late and Cara’s current meltdown was only adding to her stress. “I’m fat!” Cara held her head in her hands as she slumped on the bed. Archer’s heart sank, she was anything but fat. She was glowing and beautiful and her pregnancy had only increased her desirability; she was perfect to him. He bent down to his knees in front of her, wiping stray tears as they fell. “You ar

Cara lay in Archer’s arms, stroking his light stubble with her fingers. Their limbs were intertwined and wrapped up with the covers. It was late in the morning and Archer had finally relented on pleasuring Cara numerous times before he was sated himself. Their night of nightmares had turned into those of passions and love as they explored each other’s bodies over and over again. Cara’s body ached, both by the activities and her large bump that was getting in the way more and more as each day passed.   “Zach?” She whispered, hoping he was awake. “Hmm…” He groaned, nuzzling into her hair. “We need to get up.” She chuckled as he huffed and refused to move. “But it’s Sunday.” He whined but the sound was muffled by Cara’s hair. She paused for a moment, taking

The familiar smells of the disinfected waiting room surrounded Cara as she waited to be called through. Archer was clutching her hand, twitching nervously as his thoughts ran wild. These places always made him nervous and he was unable to control it. Archer was still plagued by worry; everything felt like it was too good to be true. Cara meant everything to him and their baby girl was a blessing in disguise. Yet all at once, his thoughts took him to a deep dark place. A place where they could be ripped away from him at any moment. His inner demons tormented him; conflicting him with hope and anxiety. “Everything’s going to be okay,” Cara reassured him, stroking her fingers across the inked rose on Archer’s hand. “It’s just a scan.” Just as she spoke, the doctor pulled her door open and called the pair in.  Cara lay down on the hospital bed, her almost se

The week went by quick enough for the weekend to be in Cara’s sights. It was Friday and the clock was almost at five. The butterflies in her stomach fluttered around, excited to see her fiancé yet dreading any conversations that they were going to have. Archer had distanced himself from her, putting a blockade up and refusing to talk to her. Even general conversation had dulled down and she began to wonder if this was what their relationship would become. She hated herself for thinking it, but the anxiety that crawled up her spine and settled in her brain wouldn’t leave. It had manifested throughout the week, each beat of heart only increased the worry. She kept reminding herself that Archer had changed, he wasn’t anything like his father or Rich. But her inner demons would sneak up on her and destroy any hope or idea that she had of him.   Cara saw Archer’s car parked up as she reached the a

Johnson carried Cara out of the car, Jessica’s quick thinking to call them and notify them meant the doctors were already waiting for her, prepared with a wheelchair. Jessica rushed into the emergency room, following closely behind Cara. As Johnson watched them both being escorted inside he exhaled loudly. He knew exactly where Archer would be, his safe haven when things got too much for him. It was somewhere they both visited. He pulled out of the parking bay, his foot down on the accelerator as he joined the motorway. After everything that Cara and Archer had been through together, they deserved to be happy. He didn’t know what had happened, but clearly, Archer had taken the news of his mum's death hard and he couldn't blame him. He had only just got her back in his life and all too soon she was taken from him. He was worried for his best friend and even more worried for Cara; he only hoped t
