Chapter 8
“Shite.” Draven cussed in the hallway all the way to the doctor’s room. He’d excused himself, buying himself some more time by telling the doctor that he needed to go to the loo. However, that wouldn’t actually give him that much time especially since Draven also didn’t want the doctor to think that he was doing Number 2. Gad, that would even be more embarrassing than the fact that he was scared as hell of facing the doctor and being the person responsible for his young sister. This was even scarier than accompanying Clarabelle to see her OB. “Bollocks!” All of his life, Draven had always been a bitter person, especially when his two older brothers basically had thrown him under the bus over a decade ago which led him to live in exile. This bitterness was one of the reasons why he always carried himself with a bit of liquor and dark humor and most importantly, why he believed he’d be a bad father. It wasn’t that he was an irresponsible person, he simply didn’t care. He lacked the abi

Chapter 9
‘Go home. Don’t worry about Clara. I’ll be here. I’ll let you know should anything happen. D. S.’ Draven had been gone for twenty minutes when this text arrived. Despite his younger brother’s attempt to convince him that everything was under control, Javier felt that there was something that his brother wasn’t telling him. He was debating whether he should stay there and get the answer out of Draven or actually listen to his brother’s advice and go home with Ella. “Maybe we should listen to him,” said Ella who glanced at his phone’s screen from beside him as he tilted his phone for her to see. “Clara seems to trust him, Jiev. And I know you want to be here and find out what truly is going on but it might not be a good thing after all.” He turned to his wife. A frown nestled on his forehead as he regarded her with both amusement and curiosity. “What do you mean?” Ella gave a small smile, her hand wrapped on his arm as she led him slowly toward the exit of the cafeteria. “I know s

Chapter 10
About three hours later, they were sitting on the floor by the chaise lounge. Ella was resting her head on Javier’s chest while her husband had his back and head leaned on the side of the chaise. His eyes were closed as he gathered more oxygen into his lungs. As always, they’d given their all during their lovemaking. It seemed now that they were married, they didn’t feel the need to hold back. Ella wasn’t as shy as she’d been either. In fact, she got a little more inventive and investigative in finding out what she actually liked. And of course, Javier was more than happy to oblige. His wife’s happiness was his happiness too. Although the last three hours had successfully managed to distract his mind from what had been troubling him for the last twenty four hours, now the thought returned to haunt him again. He’d tried to hide it as best as he could because he didn’t want his wife to worry but it seemed that she could sense it already. “Something is still bothering you,” muttered E

Chapter 11
After spending a day with Jess shopping, they went to a small cafe and got themselves some dose of caffeine. Jess was having a vanilla latte and a slice of New York cheesecake whilst Ella settled with a cup of jasmine tea. “I know what you’re doing, you know,” said Jess after they were done dissing the expensive store they’d just gone to. She grabbed the spoon and sliced the cake with it, her eyes were wholly focused on the white, creamy texture. “Mom talked to you and told you that there’s something weird about me so out of a whim, you texted me asking if I want to shop for some makeup — which you know, I couldn’t resist.” Ella hid her smile by taking a sip of her tea. “Okay then.” She placed the cup back on its saucer. “What’s going on? Do you have any problems? Maybe I could help you.” “It’s not fixable,” commented Jees. “I doubt even you could help me. I mean, no one could.” “Every problem may seem like that at first.” “Not this one.” Jess looked Ella squarely in the eye.

Chapter 12
While Ella was out and spending some quality time with her half-sister, Jessica, Javier was alone in his library which was connected to his office at home. He had promised a lot of people including his bedridden and unwell little sister that he wouldn’t do anything related to work. As appalling as that was, he attempted to honor his promise. Reading wasn’t actually working so that was what he resided to. After all, knowledge could be obtained through reading including knowledge of business and expansion. It was about four in the afternoon when he finally heard the noise coming out of the front door. He placed a bookmark to mark where he was reading and put the book on the coffee table next to him before walking out through the door. Ella caught him coming out of his office and her eyes narrowed infinitesimally. “Did you forget that you promise your sister that you won’t be working this week?” “Of course not,” Javier objected, closing the door behind him. “I was just reading at the

Chapter 13
It was only the morning after that Javier started to receive texts and calls from his brothers. This call in particular was from his younger brother Reed. “I can’t believe you let her sister stay there during your honeymoon, Brother.” Reed let out a small whistling noise. “That must’ve been awkward. I mean, you don’t have the house to yourself now. No more sex, I gather. Or do you somehow manage to get sneaky? While her sister is under the same roof? That’s kinky.” “Remind me to never answer your call, Reed,” replied Javier, refraining from rolling his eyes and knocking some sense into his little brother’s head. “Okay, I’m sorry. That’s too much, I suppose,” said Reed, sounding a little panic. “I want to call and ask you about Clarabelle.” Javier could feel his heart stopped for a moment before beating quicker and quicker every passing second. His hands that were buckling his belt immediately stopped. “What happened to Clarabelle?” He’d just finished taking a shower and was about

Chapter 14
Draven scratched the back of his head even though it didn’t itch as he was faced with the current situation. No gentleman should be in his situation right now. Not even when his sister had given him her permission and made a perfect excuse for him. Still, in his effort to respect people’s privacy, he resided in one corner of the spacious room so no one could feel his presence. But not so far away that he couldn’t see his beloved sister, of course. “I’m pregnant,” said her sister to the man in front of her. It was the second man who’d gone to the hospital on the night she’d had an accident. Clarabelle’s green eyes met her brother’s for a split second before she fixed her eyes on the man. Draven couldn’t see the man’s face but he could tell that that man was probably going through some shock. His sister truly held nothing back when she sprung the news to this poor guy. “And could be your child.” There was a moment of complete silence. No one talked and Draven was sure if someone were

“He’s not going to come,” said Clarabelle really decidedly upon glancing at the door for the eleventh time since the clock hit two in the afternoon. She let out a small sigh, trying to swallow her disappointment as she rested her back on the pillows. In all honesty, she thought that Dean would at least show up. She’d heard from Draven that Dean had been there in the waiting room with the rest of her family while she’d been in surgery. That had given her a bit of hope. Regardless of their disagreement and how messed up the relationship they had, she thought he would at least hear her out or just come to see how she was doing. She’d told the hospital not to accept anyone else other than her family members so when she’d finally texted him to come here, he should’ve taken the chance, right? Or perhaps he no longer cares about her. Damn. That hit even harder than she thought it would. Clarabelle shook her head and closed her eyes. No. She couldn’t start imagining Dean as some sort of kn

“Yes,” answered the man wearing a dark shirt and a dark navy blue blazer. His dark eyes moved from Draven to Clarabelle before he fixed his gaze back on Draven. He leveled his gaze with Draven. Both men were tall and around the same height. “Would you mind giving us some privacy?” Before Draven could say anything, his sister cleared her throat and sat tall on her bed. “Actually, Dean, I would prefer my brother to be here,” she said without breaking eye contact with the man who might be holding her heart. She knew that she’d asked Draven to witness it while she told both Brett and Dean but right at this moment, she truly needed him. At least with her brother being here, she wouldn’t feel so alone and lonely when Dean told her that he didn’t want anything to do with the baby or her anymore. At least with her brother being here, she could put up a face and would not cry. Draven watched the man subtly pat the right pocket of his blazer before sliding his hand into the pocket of his bla

Chapter 17
Clarabelle opened her mouth and then closed it again because, despite her wish to say something in return, she simply couldn’t find her voice nor the words that could articulate what was in her mind right now. This was Dean freaking Westminster. He was the worst of the worst. He was the worst player and if anyone asked her two nights ago to point out someone who didn’t know the word ‘love’, she’d either pick her brother Draven or the man standing right in front of her asking to be her baby’s father. Yes, Clarabelle tried to convince herself that she hadn’t heard that wrongly, Dean had just asked her if he could be the baby’s father even though she’d told him that the baby might not even be his. This was absolutely insane. She’d never imagined this day would come thus she had no preparation whatsoever and had zero clue on how to handle this. She didn’t even know how to properly react to his proposal. In order to calm herself since the sight of him was simply too overwhelming at this
