The new day rolled in without incident. Daniel hadn't found himself in a guest room again, but Eva had not come to bed that night, leaving Daniel frustrated and restless. By morning the alpha's mood had darkened with no sign of lifting any time soon. His head pounded in protest against his exhaustion and him being up before the sun had even breached the horizon; throbbing with each step or slight movement. Having seen Kade off, Daniel silently made the trip up an old dirt track hidden at the back of the packhouse grounds. Young light began to creep coyly through the network of the branches and spring foliage of the forest as the alpha walked away from the packhouse, slowly burning away the nip in the air that settled at night when temperatures still dipped into single figured. Up ahead, about a mile away and settled deep into the for

"Eva!"  Eva barely had time to brace herself before she felt a body slam into hers and slender arms engulfed her. For a moment the she-wolf was blinded by a veil of soft hair the colour of Cornish ice-cream, the sun shimmering on the silky threads like spun sugar.  “Hi Maria.” Eva laughed softly, wrapping her arms around her best friend to return the hug. “I have missed you.”  “It’s only been a couple of weeks!” Maria laughed, pulling back, her nordic blue eyes sparkling in the afternoon light. “Although, I hear you’ve been busy.”  Eva rolled her eyes at the knowing smirk her friend flashed at her. “Things have been a bit crazy aro

When Ian had decided to bargain with the alpha of the Hellhound pack, he had believed he wouldn't get anywhere. To his surprise though, Alpha Daniel had taken the safety of his pack seriously and held it above the pride of having his beta and mate shot. So here he was, in the back of a truck, wedged between two giant bikers as they took him somewhere safe as agreed. Ian didn't know much, just that there was some old farmhouse on pack territory where they felt he would be safe. In return, he simply had to tell them what he knew. What happened after that remained to be seen but Ian didn't care. He had bought himself time which was more than he would have had if he stayed where they had been keeping him.  He wondered how the alpha would react when he learned that the person behind all of this was right under his nose the whole time

'Fire at the garage!' Eva called through the pack mind-link.    Eva didn't bother to see if anyone heard her and instead ran towards the garage to try and see if anyone had been in there. She was so distracted by the fire that at first she didn't see the small brown cardboard box sat neatly on the street until she practically tripped over it.    Frowning, she glanced at it, seeing that it was addressed to Daniel. Reaching down to pick the box up, she was surprised by its lightness but could tell something was in it. It was meant for Daniel but Eva felt dread freezing her blood when she saw smudges of blood on the light brown surface. Breathing deeply, Eva moved to open the box but didn't get very far.    "Don't open the box." Daniel's voice broke into Eva's co

By dawn the fire had been put out but all that remained was rubble and the charred and ashened carcasses of vehicles and warped metal frames. Luckily no one had been in the building at the time of the fire so there were no casualties but nothing was salvageable. The scent of burnt wood and chemicals still hung on the air as the rubble smouldered against the pale grey light of the morning. Warriors, scouts and guards had been moving about the packhouse and grounds in a flurry as wolves made their way through the land looking for clues to where the Mad Alpha was or better yet, finding him.  The news of Kade's death had hit the back like a sledgehammer. It had knocked the spirit out of the pack as everyone silently processed that one of their own was gone. Daniel had refused to speak about it and didn't let his mind dwell on the fa

For as long as Ethan could remember, he had despised his family but none more so than his own father.  Michael had never been a good father nor a sane one. He had just turned fifty-one when he got some poor she-wolf by the name of Catherine pregnant after a drunken night and quickly found himself lumbered with a pregnant nineteen year old. He had tried to squirm his way out of it like the snake he was but things were done differently in the Night Stalker pack and despite being the nephew of a high ranking wolf, he was forced to take Catherine as his mate and provide for her.  Except it wasn’t Michael providing for Catherine but rather Catherine providing for their pup and her pathetic excuse of a mate.  Ethan was grateful he didn't inherit Catherine's mu

Ethan could have killed Bethany too and finally be free of his awful family that he despised with all his soul. However, he knew she would prove useful so he made her pack up a few belongings and sit in the car while he set the old house on fire with his father’s corpse inside.    They sat in the old battered car as the fire consumed the house, orange and yellow flames dancing against the black backdrop of the night, reaching for the sky like damned souls. The fire quickly grew to a vengeful inferno thanks to the winter gales feeding the greedy element until even the freezing sheets of rain could do nothing to dampen the thick black smoke or the wicked flames licking up the side of the burning building.    They officially became packless that night.    Ethan k

After Slade's visit, Daniel had decided to take his father's advice and track down contact information for the Alpha of the Night Stalker pack. He didn't know much about the pack except that they hadn't attended the singles event and were one of just three official packs in Ireland. There was no bad blood with any other pack that Daniel could tell but this wasn't surprising. Given the size of the land, keeping the peace was on most Alphas' agenda even if their personal opinions of each other are less than pleasant. Daniel didn't care for that side of politics and he often made it obvious. Sure peace was good but he didn't fancy playing nice with a bunch of arrogant Alphas just because it looked good.  Daniel was eventually able to get hold of a number for the Night Stalker Alpha. Aisling was about the same age as Daniel's mother but her son (and the heir to the Night Stalker throne) was

Eva had admitted to herself she had been putting off asking Bethan to go over the events of her attack again. The first time had been hard enough for the shy girl. It felt like Eva was just going to be rubbing salt into the wounds. She had to do it though. Too many people had died and Eva would never forgive herself if she didn't at least try to get Bethan to remember something else. She just hoped this was the last time she would have to make Bethan relive that horrible night. Knocking on the bedroom door, Eva waited until Bethan answered. It didn't take long, as if Bethan had been waiting for Eva to turn up, her brown eyes dull and shadows smudging the skin under her eyes."Bethan." Eva smiled softly. "Can I come in?" "Sure." Bethan whispered, stepping aside to let the older she-wolf in. The room was still as immaculate as the first time Eva had stepped in and she was starting to wonder if Bethan was even sleeping in the bed. She quick

Kade sat up like he had just been electrocuted, heart hammering in his chest loudly before the piercing pain in his head make groan. It felt like someone was pushing an ice pick into his skull and piercing his brain over and over, every synapse firing in protest.  "Oh goddess, what did you do to me?" He growled. "Brought you back to life." Dagmar replied sharply, moving to sit in her usual seat. "That pain in your head in your body repairing itself after having a bullet shot through it at point blank range."  Kade groaned, elbows resting on his thighs and hands pushed into his thick dark hair. He could feel the dried blood still clinging to his scalp and roots. It took a moment before it all came back to him. He had been ambushed and shot in the head. He shouldn't
