Thirty Six

Ethan could have killed Bethany too and finally be free of his awful family that he despised with all his soul. However, he knew she would prove useful so he made her pack up a few belongings and sit in the car while he set the old house on fire with his father’s corpse inside. 

They sat in the old battered car as the fire consumed the house, orange and yellow flames dancing against the black backdrop of the night, reaching for the sky like damned souls. The fire quickly grew to a vengeful inferno thanks to the winter gales feeding the greedy element until even the freezing sheets of rain could do nothing to dampen the thick black smoke or the wicked flames licking up the side of the burning building. 

They officially became packless that night.
