Chapter 40
Alpha Doyle After we had eaten our dinner and I had spent time with Lena and the girls discussing school. It wasn’t long before I was seeing that Lena wanted to call it a night. I had to admit that she looked wiped out. I knew that she must have been living on nerves and adrenaline all day, and now that the adrenaline high had worn off, she was about to crash. “Love, are you ready to turn in?” I asked her, knowing that she wouldn’t tell us how she was feeling of her own volition. She looked over at me and nodded. I stood up and waited for her to do the same. Once she was on her feet, we said goodnight to the girls and made our way back upstairs to the third floor. When we arrived at the door of my room, I gave Lena a light kiss on the forehead and bid her goodnight. Lena made her way into my bedroom and quietly closed the door behind her. I made my way down the hallway to the bedroom that I was going to be sleeping in for the time being. Lena had absolutely n

Chapter 41
Alpha Doyle Over the last few days, I had spent time with Lena, and during that time I had never mentioned the fact that I knew that she was sleeping in her wolf form. Ever since that first night that Lena had been here, and I had gone to check on her and found her asleep in her wolf form on my bed. I had made a point of going to my room and checking in on her each night after that, and every time she had been asleep in wolf form. I will admit, it worried me. It hurt me to know that she distrusted me so much, that she felt she needed to sleep in her wolf form for her own protection. Now the day had arrived when the girls were leaving here to go back to their university dorm. They would head back after lunch and knowing that I could not be there to protect them if something was to go wrong was hard for me to fathom. I had had a difficult enough time letting my girls go when they had first decided to live on campus. But now it was even harder, I was going to be allowin

Storm Since I had arrived at this pack, I had felt on edge. Alpha Doyle had been spending time with me since I had arrived here. We were sort of getting to know each other. But it was difficult. Our whole getting to know each other thing was moving at a snail’s pace because I could never let my guard down. Plus, I was worried about talking to him for fear of saying the wrong thing and setting him off. Every night when I went to bed, I slept in my wolf form just like I had always done. I know that with the bond getting stronger between the two of us, separation from each other would soon become an issue. But despite that, I was glad that the girl’s and I were going back to the campus today. Some distance apart would give me time to clear my head and get my thoughts in order. It would also give me a chance to calm down. With the anxiety and adrenaline overload I had been on the last few days, I was in need of some breathing room. I know that Alpha Doyle must be worryin

Chapter 43
Storm The girls and I had been back on campus for three days now. Since we had been back, I had been trying to get back into the routine the girls and I had had before we ever went to the Celtic Moon Pack’s house, and I had met Alpha Doyle. But I had to admit, I was not having an easy time of it since we had been back. I was surprised that ever since I had arrived back on campus, Alpha Doyle was constantly on my mind. In an attempt to distract myself, I had ditched one of my classes the morning after we had gotten back from the pack house. While the girls had been in class, I had rung Winter and had a talk to her. I needed to let her know that I was still alive. I had filled her in on having found my mate and discussed with her my fears over being mated to an Alpha. Winter already knew I was terrified, but she had calmly talked to me about everything that was bothering me. We had scheduled another catch up call in a couple of days. I was glad I had her to talk to. I would be

Chapter 44
Storm Leah seemed to think over what I had just said as we continued our run. We got back to our starting point and started doing our cool down stretches. I was soon lost in thought. Once again, I was thinking about Alpha Doyle. I found myself wondering what he was doing right at that moment. Was he stressing over us girls being here? Was he taking care of pack business with Beta Sean? Was he annoyed with me for some reason? Did he resent winding up with someone like me for his second chance mate? I was still lost in my own thoughts when I suddenly became aware of Lilly moving closer to me. Looking at her, I saw that her eyes were fixed on something to my left, and she was inching closer to me. I looked over to where she was looking and saw the group of guys who always followed the three girls around like a foul smell. “Hi pretty ladies, mind if we join you for a run today?” one guy asked, as he approached us looking cocky. “We have already been for o

Chapter 45
Alpha Doyle I was too distracted to focus on pack work. Several times Sean had caught me zoning out. I was thinking too much about Lena and my girls. “Why don’t you just call her?” Sean asked. “I have, many times,” I replied. “No, you haven’t. You have been calling your daughters. You haven’t called Lena,” he replied. “I don’t have her number. And every time I call my girls, she will not get on the phone. She drives me crazy!” I replied, feeling at a loss over what to do about her. “Yes, I can see that. So, what do the girls have to say about it?” he asked, seeming to be quite happily amused by my current predicament. “Leah said to just give her time, so I will give her time,” I replied. “Well, I am sure Leah knows Lena well enough to offer up judgement on the situation. Just give her some time and let her know that you are there for her. Once she is comfortable, everything will be fine. She sure is a jumpy little thing

Chapter 46
Storm Storm We were in Julie’s car, headed back to the Celtic Moon Pack. I was driving, going way to fast as we headed towards Alpha Doyle’s home. I was worried about getting us lost, having only made trips along this road twice. Once on the way out to the Celtic Moon Pack and then on the trip back to the university campus.  I was scaring the girls with my driving. They weren’t used to the speed I was travelling at, and I was aware that they were holding on with white knuckled grips and throwing each other nervous glances. I was trying to focus on where I was going when Lilly suddenly asked from the back seat, “Lena, what is going on? Why are we heading back home? And why are you driving so fast?” “I will tell you when we get to your dad’s house,” I replied. “Lena, you are really scaring me,” Lilly said, as she looked at me, meeting my gaze in the rear-view mirror from where she sat in the back seat. I was driving as fast as I could while

Chapter 47
Storm The girls and I waited out in the lounge room watching television until the Omega’s called us in for dinner. I couldn’t help but feel as though Alpha Doyle was now angry with me over what had happened. And maybe he was. He was an Alpha, and they were notorious for being moody. But realistically, what had I done wrong? I had protected the girls. I had brought them home. I had notified Alpha Doyle of the situation. What else could I have done? Dinner tonight was more quiet this time around, than what it was the last time I was here. I sat at the table in silence. I spent more time pushing the food around on my plate than I did eating anything. My chest felt tight, and my stomach was in knots, and for some reason I felt like I was going to burst into tears at any moment. After a short while, unable to put up with feeling this uncomfortable for a moment longer, I excused myself and made my way upstairs, lugging my suitcase to the spare bedroom that Alpha Doyle had

Chapter 48
Alpha Doyle  I saw a look quickly flitter across Lena’s face, passing far too quickly for me to decipher. She looked away from me, and shrugging it off, I made my way out of the room with Sean hot on my heels. Sean and I went upstairs to my office and sat at my desk. A few minutes later Sean let out a light laugh and said, “She is a little pistol, that one, I will give her that.” “Yeah, she is. But I don’t know what to make of it,” I replied. “What do you mean?” he asked, looking at me and waiting for me to explain. “Well, my daughters swear they said nothing. I didn’t tell anyone, and I doubt you did either. So how did they know of Lena being our new Luna,” I asked, meeting his gaze. “Wait, you think Lena told them herself?” he asked, looking at me surprised by what I had just suggested. “She was a rogue when she came here. Maybe she had a few rogue friends she conveniently never told us about,” I replied. “Connor, you ca

Chapter 49
Storm The next morning, I awoke to find Alpha Doyle laying on the other side of the bed. He had his head resting on the pillows he had piled up behind him, and he was just watching me. It was a little unnerving. As I lay there, everything from the previous day came back to me, and I found myself remembering how miserable I had been feeling the night before when he had walked out of the room without a word, and my heart ached once again. The feelings I had been feeling at the dinner table suddenly hit me full force once more. I don’t know how long Alpha Doyle had been laying there watching me for, but I felt unnerved and vulnerable under the intensity of his gaze. Plus, the way he had treated me yesterday only served to remind me of how my father used to treat my mother. Fate really was one cruel bitch! Climbing off the bed, I made my way into the adjoining bathroom. Shifting back into my human form, I wrapped a towel around myself before closing and locking t
