Chapter 20. Angelina
I was shocked. It seemed to me that Reive had really lost his senses. Maybe he wasn’t an earl at all, just a common or garden robber? He might get a knife out of a secret pocket and cut the shop owner’s throat. Then, he’d take away not only suits but everything else.I turned my head aside, fighting the urge to slap my forehead and cry out. However, I didn’t do anything of the kind. Instead, I looked into the necromancer’s arrogantly-joyful glowing eyes. I almost smiled. If Reive was a robber, then he was a very charming one.The shop owner standing behind the counter was gulping for air with his mouth wide open like a fish that a whale had spat out on the shore. I was already expecting he would call security or just tell us to get out of there. Maybe he would also give us a swift kick in the rear end to say goodbye.Suddenly, the man turned pale, smoothed his moustache and...  smiled broadly. Although his lips were quivering,

Chapter 21. Angelina
For a hundred gold pieces, you could rent an apartment in the best hotel of the city for six months, including meals. The man frowned, “Not stuff but the most fashionable and expensive toilettes worthy of a King and his fiancée. The money is of no importance, dear lady. I remember my father added just only one warning at the very end of his monologue. Do you want to know which one?”He looked attentively into my eyes.I had to nod.“Give him everything if you don’t want the dead to take your life...” Jeff straightened up and shook his head. “Dear lady, believe me, I don’t want to know whose descendant your friend is. It doesn’t matter to me at all!” With these words, Jeff made a meaningful bow. “I beg your pardon, it looks like the horse doctor has arrived.”He hurried out onto the street. I went after him. There, a cart with a sick horse lying in it had driven right up to the

Chapter 22. Reive
They approached the inn the necromancer had discovered nearby. It was a large five-story building with magnificent verandas and a splendid front garden. It was obviously a place for well-to-do people. Exactly what Reive was looking for, being an earl and sovereign of one of the largest provinces in the kingdom. Of course, his title didn’t mean anything now. The family lands must belong to someone else after so many years. But the habit of luxury and abundance didn’t change. As they approached the gates, Angelina, clearly trying not to reveal her burning curiosity, timidly asked, “Reive, you were examining the sick horse at the shop so closely... Please tell me, can he be cured?”He turned and said in surprise, “Do I look like a doctor? I have no idea. But the horse was really handsome. Pity it’ll finish up that way.”The girl sighed, “Yeah, it’s a pity.”The necromancer frowned, seeing her narrow

Chapter 23. Angelina
When I opened my eyes, I saw a bottle of larnica powder on the table. I was lying on a huge soft bed, with the sunlight seeping through the white bed curtains.I felt so good I wanted to sing. Nothing ached, and the tiredness from the long walk and the night spent on brushwood in the forest had disappeared, as if it had never been.Reive was sitting in the armchai, reading a recent copy of ‘The Ihordarrine Times’, a large sheet of yellow paper folded in half and checkered with small and not quite even letters.“I’ve come to like having fits when you’re with me,” I smiled, sitting up in my bed. “I wake up rested and healthy, without any idea when I fell asleep.”“Oh, little one, you’re awake,” he threw the paper aside and sat down beside me on the bed.The bed bent under his weight and I felt a tiny spark of excitement at how close he was to me again. This time, Reive looked st

Chapter 24. Reive
Reive felt like the worst kind of scoundrel, bursting into the bathroom of a helpless naked girl. Just to embarrass her. Just for the fun of it.What had he become? This was unheard of discourtesy for a high-blooded earl. However, he couldn’t help himself. Angelina attracted him like a magnet. This was an indirect result of him spending seven hundred years without a woman.Reive tried to convince himself that was the reason. Actually, it wasn’t.The necromancer went into the little bathroom and purposely closed the door loudly behind himself. His pulse was racing, like it did before a good fight. What the draugr was he doing? What he wanted was still impossible for him anyway. He had to wait. Not only because the little one hadn’t had any men yet but because of another extremely important reason that had become obvious only a couple of minutes ago.Something he hadn’t understood for such a long time became clear

Chapter 25. Angelina
I didn’t have time to take fright. I only felt the necromancer’s strong hands hold me in his embrace. I felt the fine dizzying scent of his body, enfolding me like soft wings. I heard his heartbeat. Strong and fast. Then, all my magic receptors, if I had any, cried out of danger. I sensed the Dark very poorly. My anarel was almost empty, and I couldn’t fill it, and yet only someone completely devoid of the gift wouldn’t be able to see what was happening around us.   A dark whirlwind spun around us, and I stopped feeling the ground under my feet. I clung to the necromancer tightly, feeling my heart jump out of my throat. In response, Reive gently drew me close against him, and yet it seemed to me I felt only worse. My mouth was dry, and, somewhere beneath my stomach, a red-hot snake coiled upwards, increasing the tension.A wave of shivers ran down my spine.“Relax,” the necromancer whispered in su

Chapter 26. Reive
Reive couldn’t believe his eyes. He had been aching with the desire to bring Angelina to the Twilight world but now he didn’t have any idea what to do next. All his suspicions were confirmed. The girl had inherited the golden blood. As soon as they had appeared here, everything had become clear. In the world of dark gods, a necromancer’s anarel pulsates, ready to make full use of the ever present Dark. But the opposite effect applies to mages whose energy source was fainter than black. Their own magic began to maintain their energy, while the Dark slowly sucked life out of them.Only a necromancer could walk freely around the Twilight. For others, this place became a huge leech which sooner or later would suck out all their blood. It was just a matter of time. With Angelina, everything turned out quite interestingly. Her necromantic powers had increased many times, but the black anarel inside her chest had started to flash a bright green-

Chapter 27. Angelina
How? How did we get here? The huge palace was too far out. Now, they were standing by its entrance. The high wall and the moat-bridge now lowered in welcome. The wide Arch of Blood that would only allow in guests with a noble’s insignia.Could we get in there today? Right now?I cast a nervous look at my outfit. Of course, in my dress by the best tailor of Ihordarrine, I looked good enough for anyone to take me for a high-born noble. However, for some reason, that didn’t bolster my self-assurance.“Reive, how should we prepare or dress up...”The necromancer eyed me up and down skeptically.“Looks like you aren’t naked.” Then, he examined himself the same way and added, “Me either.” There was a mischievous twinkle in his eyes again. Then he took me by the arm, signing to the zombie to follow us, and said, “That means everything’s okay. So, my dear fiancée, I think it’s h

Chapter 28. Reive
"Firel. My castle. My blood...”The dark stone castle rose in front of Reive. It was shining in the sun. At the same time, it seemed to be absorbing the sunlight, its stone able to concentrate the Dark within itself. No, not to accumulate it. Incredible efforts would have been needed to do that. It was impossible to create something of such a size, but many years ago, the Undead King had created something else. The stones of this huge complex were enchanted to such a degree that Firel compelled all the surrounding Dark to flow slowly into its walls. It attracted the Dark, allowing the magic to freely circulate inside the castle. As a result, any necromancer who happened to be within the walls of the castle, found his own power significantly intensified. Of course, it wouldn’t make a strong necromancer out of an ordinary man or return to Reive his former power. But within the walls of his own home, it was much easier for the Undead King to work

Chapter 29. Reive
Reive raised an eyebrow, not quite understanding what was going on. However, when the groom walked away, she came up to him, standing on tiptoe, holding her breath. Turning his head, the necromancer’s glance fixed on the high breast peeping appetizingly from the décolleté. As if Angelina was pressing more closely against him on purpose, until her lips reached his ear. By this time, Reive was ready to go down to the depths of Twilight, if he could be there alone with Angelina. If he could tear her away from outside eyes and cover every inch of her body with kisses to die for. He was eager to kiss her soft,  smooth skin, her moist hot lips that right now touched his earlobe as if by accident. The necromancer closed his eyes and exhaled sharply, trying to concentrate and not pay attention to the feverish hammering in his temples. Angelina was trying to tell him something. “I don’t know how to ride, Reive,” she whispered. Her breath scorched him. She
