Awkward. That was the correct and fit term to use as David looked at their seating arrangement in the bus.Chad and Zachary were sitting next to each other. Zachary looked like he was slowly losing all his patience each second, and that any minute he would really attack Chad and kill him. Literally. David knew Zachary was just so capable of doing that. Especially when he proved he could also hurt his own coach.David gulped. He didn't expect Zachary to do that. Though he heard Zachary came after a few days to personally give his apologies to Coach Brix which made Coach Brix be shocked - and scared, he was still getting shivers from Zachary's glare - though he accepted Zachary's apology in the end. Somehow, David already had a clue what made Zachary do that...David, who was sitting just in front of Chad and Zachary, peeked over the two behind again. Chad was slowly losing it too."Aish. Would you please stop staring at me like tha

Kathryn breathed out and breathed in, smiling ear to ear as she inhaled the fresh, breezy air coming from the ocean. She could hear the waves gently crashing to the different rock formations, seagulls flying around, and the boats making splashy sounds as they gently stroked through the water surface."So beautiful!" Her eyes were twinkling excitedly as she bent down and watched from her seat the little fishes going visible through the clean transparent sea."Oh! Earl, look, look! It's Nemo!" Kathryn pointed, her hand trying to grab Earl who was seated next to her in the ferry.Earl looked over and frowned. "Kathryn, it's not Nemo, it's Dory!"Kathryn bent her head closer to the water, unbothered by how the ferry was still running, the fish still swimming with them. "No, Earl, look closer. It's Nemo!"Earl thought it was ridiculous, but it was really a blue tang he was seeing and not a clown fish. He couldn't help

Earl glanced at Zachary, noticing how he wasn't too reacting this time even though Kathryn's name was just mentioned, and answered David. "She’s out with Miss Lesley and a few of our classmates. They're preparing our dinner for tonight.""Oh. And you're here with us?""Well, it was made out of draw-straws. Kathryn was just unlucky to pick the shortest one," Earl laughed softly. Though Kathryn didn't look anywhere near forced to help at all. For all Earl knew, Kathryn was feeling giddy that she was one of the ten students who were fated to make tonight's dinner.David groaned. "Seriously, what's with this, basing everything with draw-straws? I heard the chosen three teams to be together on this trip were made from draw-straws too!"The elevator dinged and the three went out, heading to the Seaside Walkway, a rocky cliff shoreline between islets in the right wingside of Do Island. David and Earl were fully enthralled by the sea, looking at it while th

"Sandra? ...Adelaine? ...Mandy?”Kathryn's eyes glowed through the darkness of the room. She could hear the soft snores from her shared-room classmates, Sandra, Adelaine, and Mandy, going along with the gentle waves coming from the sea outside. There was a rattle of leaves from a nearby tree, showing its shadows through the glass window intruding the room. After calling for the fifth time without having a reply, Kathryn slowly slid out of her covers. The piece of paper Zachary gave her said he'd be waiting by the spiral stairs. That was a bit far from the hotel they were staying at, having an estimated twenty minute walk towards the place. It was getting colder and darker, being past ten in the evening now. Kathryn wondered if Zachary really was there, waiting for her to come.Kathryn bit her bottom lip and got up from her bed. She knew how Zachary could really be stubborn at times. And with the tone of voice he used a few hours ago, there was a 99 p

The next morning, Kathryn was busily preparing the utensils they were going to use later for breakfast. She wasn't one of the team who would cook it, yet, being the enthusiastic culinary student she was, she couldn't help but lend them a hand. "Good morning. I didn't know you're a morning person too," Alex Brown said, smiling as he entered the kitchen-like area with a sack-like roof and walls and started helping Kathryn. The sun hadn’t risen yet and there were the only ones from the Cooking Team at the moment. "Good morning. I woke up earlier and can't get back to sleep," Kathryn explained.  "Hmm," Alex hummed but then squinted his eyes upon seeing Kathryn closer. "What's that? Bitten by a bug?" Kathryn blinked and when she realised Alex was referring to her neck, Kathryn's face turned beet red. She immediately turned around, excusing herself as she sprinted out of the kitchen.Suddenly, memories of h

Zachary could feel his heart being squeezed in his chest. He couldn't breathe. The sight was too painful for him to see, yet he couldn't look away. Something deep inside him was telling him he shouldn't tear his eyes away from them, no matter how heart-wrenching it was. Kathryn had her head down while the tall, slender man was hugging her. It seemed like a friendly gesture, but because everybody had already spread the gossip Chad and Kathryn were a thing, they thought of it as romantic. They weren't people around though. It was just Zachary. He thought of it as romantic. Romantically cruel and painful for his own two eyes to see. "What the hell are you doing?" He bursts, anger evident in his voice as he couldn't let this thing happen anymore. He thought he could sneak off to Kathryn's room since Earl said he and his classmates were outside at the moment and that Kathryn was left alone and currently napping. Zachary terribly missed

Zachary wasn't the type to be enthralled by the sea but somehow, right now, he was enjoying looking at it as he sat under a tree, away from his other teammates who were doing some games in the water with their Coach. He had never expected himself to be emotionally absorbed by the scenery before him. Or maybe because something unexpected happened and he just didn't know how to deal with it and the scenery was a good escape. It had been a few hours since that time in Kathryn's room and Zachary, Zachary felt lost.He felt numb. He wanted to cry and feel his emotions even if he would look like an emotional bitch. Kathryn's words were the worst words Zachary had ever heard in his life. Not even the neglect from his parents could make him feel like this. Maybe that was the reason why he couldn't feel anything. He wasn't expecting all of these to happen to him. He wasn't ready. He didn't know what kind of emotion he was supposed to feel. "So you’re he

The moment they arrived, people started to murmur around. Earl sighed. After Scarlet introduced herself as Zachary's future wife, everyone's jaw dropped. Just like Earl, nobody expected for such things to happen all of a sudden. And Earl was curious as hell, he was bugging Zachary about it but the latter seemed to have turned into a stone. He won't even speak, he was just letting Scarlet drag him with her everywhere. It was clear that day that Zachary wasn't acting like himself. Something must have happened, Earl thought to himself as he observed his best friend from afar. For the following days, this continued to happen, it happened again and again until everyone seemed to treat Scarlet as if she was a student in G University, too. She was warmly welcomed by everyone, especially by the Ballet Team, probably because of her doll-like face and body."You're so pretty, Scarlet," one of the Ballet Team, named Lisa, commented."Thanks," Scarlet replied, glad they wer

On the fifth day, Head Master Leo announced that there will be a game and each team had to fight with each other. The purpose of the retreat was to make everyone closer, but they seemed to have forgotten that as the teams started to be aggressive at some point, even getting physical at times."That's my flag! You dumbass!" Shouted Ryan from the Swimming Team. They were playing Flag Race on the sand."Flag your ass, this is mine!" Replied Earl, a competitive player from the Cooking Team as he aggressively took the flag away.At that time, Lisa from the Ballet Team came and snatched the flag from the two men. "Bye, hotties!""Hey, that's mine!" Both men shouted as they sprinted to catch up to the small but terrible girl who only gave them a teasing tongue out.Everyone was shouting and each team was cooing and almost arguing at one another. Sometimes, they would even do tricks and cheats to win. Of course, if the prize was a delicious feast for dinne

Kathryn was about to say something more but the man spoke first, "We need to go now. There might be rainfall later, it would be difficult to go to that island if it starts raining."They all looked up and it was still sunny. Kathryn and Vivian thought maybe the man was too old to see the weather. After placing the things they needed for the campfire in K Island in the boat, Kathryn hopped in. The boat started and drifted towards the said island.Kathryn was again left mesmerized by the sea. The water was cold against her skin and the way the fishes danced along with the boat they were in made Kathryn's heart warm in awe. The place was beautiful and calming. Somehow, her worries seemed to dissipate whenever she let her mind wonder on what makes this island beautiful. Then it came to her. What if that was what Zachary was doing too? Did he find this place to be naturally beautiful too like Kathryn did? Did he also find comfort upon knowing this? Maybe. Maybe, Kath
