The entire room went completely silent. The only thing that was heard was the beeping of the machines. The woman in the middle of the room was clearly in shock. Now her wide eyes and the confused look on her face were the only thing that people were staring at. They needed to see any type of recognition with the name that he had just said. It was clear that she didn't have a clue. She wasn't reacting to the name at all, but that wasn't unusual when it came to cases of amnesia. Even Benton was sitting there looking at her very closely. He meant every word that he said, though. It was one of the very few times that he had   shown any type of empathy for a person, but he knew that he had done wrong. He wasn't going to take it out on her anymore because of his mistake. He was going to make sure that she was taken care of medically and that all of her needs were met. It was a fluke that she had been that close to the base at all; how

The next two weeks seemed to fly by. Every bit of information that they had gathered from the trace analysis and even what her body went through. Seemed to confirm the fact that she was Kelly Williams. There had been quite a few rescue efforts, and even recovery efforts to find the boat that she was supposed to be on, but it didn't seem that it was even in the area. There was no wreckage to be found at all. The doctors had also found that there were two massive brain bruises. One was a few days older than the rest. Or at least that's what they were guessing it was. There was no way to test to see how old it was; however, with the size in the way that it was shrinking, they had to assume that it had   been inflicted days prior. Benton didn't exactly like the way that that news had come out. The way that the doctors had explained it to him was basically that that wound was probably inflicted the day of the boating accident

Everybody stood in shock. No one could   believe the screen that was in front of them. However, when the doctor   saw it, he agreed that that was the most probable reason why that particular brain bruise was there. The abnormal shape of the bruise on the outside of her skin is the only thing that was a real clue. No, of course, it had faded in time. It was still there, and they could see the outline. This just confirmed everything that they had begun to think after the phone call with her parents, which Benton had explained to the doctor what had gone on, and even he had thought that something was a little odd with that. When they walked to the medical Bay as they were discussing the next step of her treatment, which would be to get up and introduce her to a few other things around the compound, they walked into the room, and she was asleep. She was once again crying out for the person named Josh, and this was the first time

Kelly had   started to respond to her own name. She still had no memory of anything. She had noticed that about a week ago, people had started treating her a little bit differently, but she couldn’t put her finger on why. Everybody had acted the same until she fell asleep, and then the next day, when she woke up, everybody was a lot nicer to her period, even though people were pretty nice to her in the first place. She knew she didn't belong there. The idea that she was being taken care of by some secret billionaire who had his own compound that was literally built into a mountain was almost hilarious to her period. She didn't know if she had a good sense of humor or a dark sense of humor, but she just thought that that was absolutely hilarious. She wasn't that special. At least in her own mind, she never seemed to be. Right now she felt that way. She looked at her hands, and even though they were not completely scraped up, she had rea

“You're not going anywhere.” Benton stated as he continued to just stare at her blankly. “You have to stay here. It's the safest place for you.” “I can't stay here forever. I need to be able to go back into the world. To resume my life even though I don't remember it. There has to be something that I forgot because I know that there is an important part of it, and I don't know anything about it. It's like I constantly forget something extremely important.” Kelly said she looked at him. “I understand that this is absolutely frustrating for you being stuck in this bed and not remembering anything. We're working on different types of sensory things that might help you trigger your  memories. The doctor, doesn't necessarily think that it's absolutely permanent. It means with time, it could all come back to you. We've exhausted everything that could possibly help you; I really do believe that you need to stay here. There are just too man

Benton had ordered all the supplies that he thought that she would like to have a say in area that was going to be hers for a while. He was still trying to work out how he was going to keep her there as long as he possibly could keep her there until she figured out exactly what she was going to do. There were still a lot of things that were going on that she didn't remember or couldn't afford to remember. When he had talked to the doctor again about her condition and the fact that it   seemed like there was some kind of mental block, there was almost like a wall.  He had learned that there were different types of amnesia, and she was suffering from one of the ones that could basically be because of a trauma that the brain was   saving the person from remembering. The way that it was explained to Benton was that the human body had a natural instinct to make sure that it protected itself. That included and d

The day the doctors let Kelly stand up for the first time, Benton had   walked in the room as she was trying to shuffle across the floor. That was when he realized that she didn't have any clothes. She was still in a hospital gown though she had changed numerous times, and she had to been in the shower though that was a problem for the doctors and nurses because of her rampant fear of water. She had changed the gown quite a few times, and for some reason, it didn't even dawn on him that he needed to order clothes for her. He knew that the time was coming that she would be let out of the medical Bay and into the private apartments. He needed to make sure that he got that done before she was. “Hey, speed racer,” he said as he looked at her, and then she almost started to lose her balance, and he was right by her side. His arms went to help brace her up, but she managed to catch herself, and he just kept him there around her period. Even the doctors and

Benton knew that she was becoming more drained by the moment. She and a few times, and she even stretched her back in a way he hadn't seen her do before. Just sitting there for any period of time was putting pressure on her spine that she hadn't had there in a while. Her body was still recuperating even a few weeks after the fact from not only the fall but the walk. She was in good shape probably beforehand, but she had lost muscle mass because she had not eaten anything for quite a while. She was also learning about new foods because she couldn't remember anything that she liked. Benton took out the box that he had in his pocket in the jacket that he was wearing, and he handed it over to her, and she   looked at it like she had no idea what to do with it. “This is your present, Kelly. You can open the box.” Kelly looked at the box and had no idea how to open it. The look that was on her face was everything that she was trying

The next day the guards who had been called off showed show back up. They started to take their place at the door, and they just watched Kelly. There was something in their eyes that even the doctors and nurses couldn’t explain, and neither could Kelly. They were angry. She wanted to know what was going on, and know why Benton would send them. She hadn't done anything to warrant meeting a fulltime guard again. She even could sort of understanding why she had one in the first place. She had been in the wrong place at the wrong time or in the way that he said it she had been in the wrong place at the right time. She didn't quite understand what was going on, nor did she really want to. She was just confused as to why they were there. “If you really wanna make a difference here, you should really learn how to use your numbers.” one of the guards said, finally breaking the silence towards Kelly. He was still glaring at her, and she didn't quite know

Benton showed her around the room as she looked from the spot she had stopped in. she hadn’t said a word as she looked at everything with huge eyes. She had no concept of some of the things that were there. “Kelly?” he asked as he saw that she hadn’t moved. “Is everything okay?” “Fine.” She said as she looked at him and his grey eyes. This was one of the few times it seemed she had seen him without the special glasses he wore most of the time. Today it was his entire face. She then really looked him over as he stood there, slightly confused by her response. He was taller and more well built than he seemed in the medical bay. She had to wonder if he had been trying to make himself smaller while she was in the hospital bed. “I just need a moment.” She said as she looked up to him as he moved slightly closer to her but he didn’t overwhelm her. The tension when he got closer to her was easy to feel for the both of them. He was glad it wasn’t just him feeli
