Chapter 31
Gretchen   Sitting in the stands watching Speed race is the most nerve-racking experience of my life. I was sitting next to Merigold and if it wasn’t for her I don’t think I could have made it through the whole race. She held my hand for most of the race. All around me brothers were cheering for Speed encouraging her to go faster. While I’m sitting there with my stomach in knots. Hell, the kids were calmer than me. But then again this is nothing new to them. Merigold has always gone to Speed’s races and when Jace and Jax were born she took them along but made sure they had their ears protected. I had prepared for this day. I thought I was ready and I could handle anything that happened. Oh, boy was I wrong.   I was ok for the first few laps. They were going around in a circle. I couldn’t see the appeal but I was going to sit and be

Speed I know I surprised Gretchen but it was so worth it. That kiss we shared before she had to go back to work was incredible. Every time we kiss it gets better and better. Hell, everything just keeps getting better and I’m loving it. I can feel myself starting to care for Brick and Gretchen. But something at the back of my head is nagging me. I feel like something is going to happen. I just don’t know what. I decided I’m going to ignore it for now. I have Gretchen and Brick. I won my first race and I’m here to party to celebrate my victory.  I wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of that.   I had been at the party for about two hours. Chatting with the brothers. Explaining what it felt like inside the car when it fishtailed. Well, the best I could anyway. You could never try to explain it was something you have to

Brick   The party was going great. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was looking for my girl. I saw her go outside and Gretchen had followed Speed out. I figured I would sit at the bar and have a beer while I waited for them to come back in. After five minutes I wasn’t worried and sipped on my beer. But after ten minutes my gut started bugging me telling me something was wrong. I finished my beer and was about to go outside to check on the girls when Gretchen came in. Alone. Her eyes were red and puffy like she had been crying. She looked pale and miserable even though she was trying to smile. I knew something was wrong. I have never seen Gretchen cry.    I followed her as she walked down the hallway to the bathroom. Once she was inside she went over to the sink and washed her face. I closed the door and locked it s

Chapter 34
Gretchen   It has been two days since Speed found out I used to be a bunny and walked out. Merigold found out Speed had talked to Ratchet the first night when she asked for some time alone. But Speed wouldn’t answer mine or Brick’s calls or texts. And only answered one of Merigold’s. It was Sunday so we were having dinner at Merigold’s hoping Speed would show up. Ratchet went home to try to get her to come over. That was over an hour ago and we haven’t heard from or seen them yet. I’m sitting at the table picking at my food. I haven’t had an appetite since that night. Brick tried to use his Dom voice on me but it didn’t work. So he went for the heart telling me I would need my strength when we talked to Speed. That worked but I couldn’t do more than a nibble. It was better than nothing.   Merigold’s phone rang while we were eating.

Chapter 35
Brick   After Merigold came back with Speed’s medication Gretchen and she gave Speed a bath to lower her temperature and get the smell of tequila off of her. When they were done they called me in to help get Speed out of the bath. I held her close to me not caring that I was getting wet while the girls dried Speed off. I carried her to the bed then stepped back to let the girls get her dressed.  Merigold goes over to Speed’s bag that is by the dresser. She pulls out something purple and fuzzy, something yellow, and starts to laugh. “ I can’t believe she packed these.” Merigold lays the items on the bed. The fuzzy purple thing turned out to be a pair of pajama pants. The yellow thing was a large tee-shirt that said ‘ Too Lazy To Be Fashionable’. Merigold wipes her eyes. “ Kelley only wears these when either she or Ratchet was sick. I bought them for her the first time Ratchet had the fl

Gretchen   The first night we spent with Speed was pretty uneventful. She slept most of the time and barely moved. We just had to monitor her temperature and force-feed fluids into her. We slept in shifts never leaving Speed’s side. Ratchet came in throughout the night bringing us food and getting updates. That kid has been a godsend. Even though I hadn’t done much by the time the sun came up the next day I was exhausted and I knew Brick was feeling it too. I was in need of a shower and a change of clothes but I didn’t want to leave. Brick had just walked in handing me a cup of coffee. “ Brick, you are my hero. I could kiss you.” I say after taking a gulp. I didn’t care if it scalded my throat as it went down. “ I’m going to go to the clubhouse to get some clothes for a few days. I need to check on my club and make sure Viper doesn’t need me. I shouldn’t be gone for more than two hours. Rat

Speed   After the fight, I had with Merigold Ratchet and I packed our things into our trailer. We locked up and left to find a motel close by. I wasn’t sure what our next move would be but I needed time to recover and to think. Ratchet wasn’t happy with me after I explained what happened between Merigold and me. To be honest I wasn’t happy with myself. But I knew I couldn’t stay in this house anymore. It wasn’t my home. When we found a hotel Ratchet and I ordered some food but ate in silence. He was made and I just didn’t know what to say. After we ate I settled into bed to rest. Ratchet decided to stay at Matt’s house for the night. I didn’t try to protest. He was eighteen now and needed his own life. He didn’t need to be burdened with my mistakes.   I woke up the next morning alone. And for the first time in my life, I didn’t lik

Brick   It has been two weeks since Speed had a massive blowup with Merigold and threw all of us out of the house. I went by the house the next day to try to talk to Speed hoping she was calmed down enough.  Imagine my surprise when I saw that there was no one there. The trailer was gone. And the house was locked uptight. I tried calling Speed’s phone but of course, my calls went unanswered. I wanted to go look for her but I got a call there was another emergency at my club. We weren’t even open yet and someone had set off the alarm. I’m hoping it is just a false alarm. But when I get there my hopes are dashed when I see my front door and several windows busted. The cops are already there looking around as well as Fred. I walk up to him and ask “  What the hell happened?” Fred shakes his head “ I don’t know yet man. I got a call from the security company when the alarm was trigge

Chapter 39
Gretchen   I was in the kitchen helping Anna out with this week's grocery list. I was in the pantry writing down everything we needed to replace so Anna could go to the box store in the next town. As I add fruit snacks and juice boxes to the list I can’t stop the smiles that came across my face. I have been at the club for four years now and when I first got here I would have never thought we would have sippy cups in the kitchen cabinets. Or ten-pound bags of dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets in the freezer. Or a special shelf in the fridge just for the kids. We even have children’s ibuprofen and cartoon band-aids in the med room now. Electrical sockets now have safety covers. Last year they even took down the stripper pole we kept in the corner when little Kadance fell and smacked her head on it, giving her a little cut and a goose egg on her forehead. Poor thing cried and Ace lost his shit.

Chapter 40
Speed  Even though I had agreed to do a therapy session I was still unsure. I figured I do it once to get Merigold off my back and be done with it. I didn’t think I needed therapy. I handled my life just fine to this point. So there was a small issue with my love life but I just figured I would just stay single forever and it wouldn’t be a problem. Yes, I feel a tug of jealousy when I see Merigold with her husbands, or Lilly with Tank, or even Ratchet with Matt. But I’m sure I will get over that in time. As far as my sex life there are plenty of toys I could buy to take care of those needs. If I want kids later there is always adoption or artificial insemination. See I had it all planned out. Until I had my first session that is. Merigold hooked me up with Tim, a guy from the VA she works with. He specializes in PTSD cases. But he worked with men and women who had seen combat. Heroes who fought in
